I bought a pair of these about a month ago. I had a rattle in one of the speakers. I took it out and could not find anything wrong with it. Someone suggested I try turning it 180 degrees and this did not help. I am in the process of ordering one. I took the others out to inspect them also. I had noticed at the back of the speakers where the cone connects to the corrugated paper looking white backing that is there is a power or chalking around this area. Should I be concerned? If I am going to replace the one speaker and this is a sign of the speakers getting old I am thinking of doing all while I can still get them. Does anyone know the general life of these speakers or what the chalking looking stuff is? It looks as it is either coming from the Corrugated paper or is it a glue or something where the cone and paper meet?

I have just purchased a pair of Light Oak KG5.5 One of them has a dark stain about 5 inches in diameter but the wood has not been raised or distorted in any way. The other has no stain but the wood on the top has a raised area about 8 inches in diameter. Are these speakers a veneer or ? I can look inside and the inside shell is wood. If you look at the edge of the back on the outside shell it looks like a particle board covered by a wood veneer or ? It is very hard to see the edge of the unfinished back as the edge looks like its painted black. I would just like to refinish the tops as the rest of the speakers look really nice. Ser # is 053598865 Light Oak. Can anyone tell me what they used for a finish on these or direct me to a sight that would tell me this?

I just bought a pair of these and one of them has a rattle at higher volume in one of the speakers. I have not taken it out to look at the inside yet but the outside looks fine Where do I purchase one and what is the average cost? If I buy a new one can I just put it in or is there anything else I should do when replacing it? Also I have a darker colored water spot on one and the other speaker has a raised area in the grain which I was told was from water. That one is not discolored but as I said the grain is raised. Are these veiner or wood? Can I sand them and refinish the tops?

I need some help if you cant tell already. I am looking to buy a good used pair of speakers yet I can not decide. I currently have some cheap 3 way speakers 1" tweeter 4 " mid and 2 -12" woofers in each. I have looked at alot of Klipsch speakers and always been a fan. I currently have a Pioneer VSX-505S rated at 150 watts continuous per Channel min. I am sure I will upgrade this later. I have seen all the speakers for sale locally. I need some help deciding what to get. I always have been a big fan of a 3 way with the big speaker sound. I am currently looking at someone who is selling a pair of KG5 s although I think this is a misprint and they are KG5.5 because they have the 2- 10" and the horn with a port below for 400.00 Out of all the speakers I have listed they all look good as far as specs go. Can someone tell me in order the best of this list to the last on the list understanding all of these would sound much better then what I have now. Then which of these would work well with my Receiver? Call me very confused ! HELP! The other thing would be I am understanding these are not sheilded? I would be using for surround sound one day.

Thanks so much this is the direction I thought might come up as. Yes I would like to have them set up as surround sound which brings up another question. I am understanding the KG 5.5 are not shielded? I currently have a large Sony Wega with all the bells and whistles. Is this correct? I have seen others buy a item called bucking magnets that you can get from partsexpress.com but I am not sure if I want to go through the hassle. Do you know if the KG5.5 s are shielded
