music server and a good DAC for my computer
jazzbeq replied to jazzbeq's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Since my main is TT, CD should be cheap solution. So that why, i switch laptop. But for now, the laptop, play as good as my rega Apollo player? very strange? I don't know if it's the presario CQ60 Altec Lansing design for laptop or soundcard, but 500$CAD compaq laptop does a good Job. Sound card: connexant, smart audio221 -
music server and a good DAC for my computer
jazzbeq replied to jazzbeq's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
For now, i use my compac, alteclansing laptop AMD processor CQ60, i went in the audio set-up to release the 80Hz cut in it. I listen directly from the phone plug to amp and sound good. I had to tell my laptop, that i don't use headphone but an amp, so no signal limitation and analog RCA type signal from headphone plug? strange but working. Since i read good comment here on fubar, i decided to order one. I will see duh, why i always forger MFidelity? shame on me I will check locally to try the xcan, good idea. Regards JzbQ -

pointless question about witch point, you align yours laScala?
jazzbeq replied to jazzbeq's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
So far best soundstage, with laser beam, pointed to shoulder and open around 4 to 6 inches, best 10 front row, i obtain for now, still exploring best disc, for that Dan Hill, easy pointing for musician and singer. any other suggestion, except test record? -

Totally agree with that, laScala, tend to gave you the sound, you wish to have, and it is more evident with a tube amp. Stage, front row, 10 row or back row or even ticket guy if you wish. It is only a matter, of cross toe in in front/back or on the sweet spot (your listening position). I also experimented putting laScala on feet, 10 inches high, did that to accommodate configuration in my listening room. It tend to help the sound having the bottom free to vibrate with music. For now, i have put them on 4 teflon buttons ½inches high (it help play toe in toe out), the important thing, is letting the bottom acoustically vibrate with music. Enjoy[8] -

Finally, what is better, is crossing angle, 6 - 10 inches, in back of listening position But what amaze me most, by switching angle, you could choose, to be on stage, front stage or somewhere in the audience listening the music? -

So far, cross toe in in front of my listening position 18 inches is the best, will stay with this for a week or 2, will adjust the room for echoes and reverberation. but large window between speaker, i have to convince WAF[], she need to replace the drap for something thicker and of cource nicier to without re-doing all the painting, heavy mission? Well, with a laser beam(19$each, cheap) on each laScala, i had tryed different toe in toe out, so far the best is between 6 inch and 12 inch in front of my nose, precise image, but less soundstage. to be continued... -

So far, shoulder set up sound good. I will purchase a laser beam at hardware this afternoon to put one on each speaker, so crossing will be easier to figure. I will try the front toe in, with shoulder sometimes some instrument duplicate, but i had not verify it with headphone, maybe it's the recording Any good jazz mono you use for this kind of adjustment? you suggest? -
Good evening, [*-)] need you help for my laScala placement? When i align my laScala, to my listening position, should i toe in, to my ears 1or my shoulder? Should i use a central point at 1 feet back my listening position? Goal is to achieve largest soundstage possible, without the central hole created by toe out speakers? Regards, JzbQ[:^)]

2m, is better but i compared it to the sumiko blackbird, didn't heard the pearl! sorry, but i really enjoy the Red that i decided to upgraded to the 2m black! 2m blue is a killer cart! A+ 2m more balanced and more feeling, little upper high tiggling, and this tiggling help align the cart, because when align correctly, it almost dispapear! so for 99$, it is a best buy Blackbird, everything sound sharp knife, but lack or cohesion and global warming harmony! for 799$, well disapointing Enjoy

Seriously, i had surf the net for an upgrade, and for now, it seems the tercel is a good option! but was it worth it to add the cream option in it or should i stay with my Rothwell? for now? Thanks A+ or maybe i change 4 quartes for a looneys?
-
Well for now, the bellari and the Rothwell step-up does an amazing job, and it is by far the best, i had since a long time, beautiful soundstages, amazing sound and, i had to mention, i replaced the tube for a telefunken NOS, it help a bit, i guess! the only problem with bellari, if you put the volume more than 3/4 it will mess everything, this phonopreamp, play at is best with volume adjust between 1/2 and 3/4, amazing result! For now, i have no intention for upgrading, before trying something else! if someone got the Tercel in the GMA(grand montreal area) send me a mp and invite me for a listining! Option for the bellari, will probably be the leben phonopreamp, if i only could convince the dealer to sell me one and order it, he is not convince that it is a gould one. or i will proceed with a EAR or Nagra, in a year from now! Short terms investment, since bellari, play so good, will probably a Koetsu Black!` [H] but again, those option or subject to change without notice! []

Simple, maybe stupid question, but i am needing your help on the proper way to install a stepup? do you do this configuration? Cart, arm, tt, stepup, phonopreamp, amp, speaker or this one Cart, arm, tt, phonopreamp, stepup, amp, speaker? regards
-
Hi, Does someone had the chance to hear it and purchase it? what will be your comment on this phonostage? thanks Regards
-
Well i decided to keep my leben and forget for now shindo! and invest in my phono stage, instead!
-
Well, 8 Ohms, is the correct thing! thanks, more balanced and acurate without overblooming high but all spectre!

I just loved, my REGA P9 (simple, beautiful, efficient and no fuss with acrylic(plastic) thing). I was searching a TT that have a dustcover and look like a TT, not sort of Acrylic Gizmo engineer frisbee? but with my Aqvox, well i could not use the balanced input, because of the ground attach to left channel on REGA TT. So for now, i am searching for a replacement for Aqvox, and could not decided myself between few phonos solutions! and thanks for the ebay, but not a DIY mood right now! Regards
