  1. Joe, Have had anyone to help me take them downstairs yet. But I can't wait to hook them up. My girlfriend was complaining that she can't remember the last time I looked at her the way I look at the speakers now. Realy! - thank you very much for truly understating the condition of the speakers. Its obviously nice to have a speaker that sounds amazing but its even better when it looks in as good condition as it sounds. Thanks, Dhar
  2. The transaction with Joe went really smooth. The La Scala are gone and Khorns are here. Joe gave the speakers a 8/10 rating...he was way way way off....The are much closer to 10 than 8. I can't not believe I have a pair of 1977 - Khorns with consecutive serial number, ALK crossover, and not even a sigle blemish in my living room. I can not believe the condition of the speakers - they are remarkable!!!!!! I just wanted to let everyone know that I am very happy with the fact that Joe did not let me back out the transaction....I would have shot my self for passing on them had I seen the condition before. I definately encourage anyone to do business with Joe. Very very trustworthy. And man does he take care of his equipment - I just can not believe how someone has kept a 30 year old speaker absolutely flawless - I mean that had to have been moved sometime. Sorry I am just very excited. Thanks to all who shared their opinion.
  3. I wanted to know which STOCK crossover is considered the best for La Scalas or Cornwall. I did a search at the forums here and someone had mentioned Type - B before 1981 for the Cornwalls. I wanted to know what people thought were the best stock crossover for the La Scalas.
  4. Yeah I was definately goint to paint the entire cabinets instead of just the sports. Just didnt know what type of paint would work best to get a nice finish.
  5. Somewhat of a random question, but I picked up a pair of Klipsch KG-4 a few weeks back for 100 bucks. The speakers are in great shape with no dent or anything, with nice sharp edges However, since the speakers are black, you can see some scratches (they dont dig into the cabs, more like some paint has come off) on the speaker cabs. I wanted to know what I can do make them look better. - What can I use to paint them. Since they are not made of birch, its not like I can refinish them. I wanted to know what I can use to repaint the cabs if anyone has taken such a projected. I just want to make them look asethetically a bit more pleasing. Thanks.
  6. To all, It's really not that serious. Joe has been kind enough to offer me an option to do a partial trade and has held the offer open for me. I will attempt to sell them my self for a little higher than 1050 (not trying to rip anyone off - just if that is what they are worth to someone). If not I will trade them to Joe next week. I am trying to sell myself to save Joe the hassel of selling. I apologize to Joe for the trouble some sale - I did have the money but unforeseen circumstances came up. Thanks for all your advice everyone. La Scala's anyone - my brother has taken my camera to Aruba and so I can't put up pictures, but I assure you you will not be disappointed with the condition - its more a question of if you want to buy or not.
  7. Sounds good guys. I am working with Joe to make the exchange sometime next week. In the mean time if any one would like to purchase a pair of La Scalas in the Washington DC, Maryland, VA area, you are more then welcome to come audition and check out the speakers. Hopefully if someone purchases the speakers, Joe wont have to deal with the hassel of selling. Let me know. I will try to get pictures up as soon as possible.
  8. Could be good, seems right around what most people say is market price: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-La-Scala-speakers-pair_W0QQitemZ150114403718QQihZ005QQcategoryZ14993QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. Thanks for all your responses guys, I will leave it up to Joe to decide if you still wants to offer me the trade option. If not, then I will be moving out the bed and sleeping on the speakers until i can make more room. Once agains, thanks for your responses
  10. I recently refinished my Cornwalls. That is part of the reason way I give them a 10/10...I bought them in raw Birch from the orignal owner. There were no scratches, no chips, absolutely nothing at all. NO woodfiller or anything of that nature, just stains, thats it. The La Scalas have one small scratch and as i said, the previous owner stapled velcro into the face of the speaker....but all around the cabinate, excellent, every corner in super sharp. Anyone in the washington dc area is more than welcome to come listen or check them out.
  11. My trade option was: 600-800 on my Cornwalls - Type B Crossover, 1977, consecutive serials - Condition 10/10 Mods: new Bob C. cast frame woofers 700-900 on my La Scalas - Type B Crossover, 1983, consecutive serials - Condition (9/10 - the previous owner stapled velcrow on to the face of the speaker for the grils) I thought the La Scalas are worth more than that?
  12. Sorry, I should have made this clear earlier...but all these speakers are not going to be in the same room. I bougt the Khorns to go into the new addition to our house. The La Scalas or the Cornwall will remain in my basement. One thing that someone I know mentioned was that, the Khorn and the La Scalas are infact a very good match, they are alost identical in regards to mids and highs. He added that since these speakers are not going to be in the same room.... I will not be missing the sound of La Scalas if they are sold... I could always get the sound of La Scalas from Khorns.... but I could never get the sound of Cornwall from the Khorns.....this is talking about the qaulity of sound, but the type of sound in general.... this I thought was interested... I strongly agree with this person. Maybe the question should be which one would you choose if you had a choice between La Scalas or Cornwalls? I will personally try to run an A B comparison myself as soon as I get a chance. I think there has been may posts on which one is a better speaker between the two alread.
  13. Its funny how the we have 2 votes for the Cornwalls and 2 votes for the La Scalas Just so you guys know the person if offering 200 more discount with the La Scalas than the Cornwalls.
  14. I have 77 Cornwall is literally 10/10 condition. (Only mod: new cast frame woofers from Bob C.) I also have 83 La Scalas in 9/10 condition. (No modes) I bought Khorns and have the option to use one of these speakers as partial trade. Which one would you give up? and why?
  15. I will update pictures as soon as I get a chance.... I should have them up by later this evening though
  16. I just bought a pair of K-horns - hence selling the LaScala I bought them from the orignal owner just a few months back. Some of you may have followed my Klipsch purchasing spree. The are in really really really good condition - they were never modified in any way - these are just the orignal La Scalas from 1983 Don't know a good starting price (I am selling them higher than what I paid only because the K-horns weren't cheap) - I have listed them on craigslist for $1150 - any forum member is welcome to them for a $1050 - dont know if that is a good price - I am welcom to negociate - but all the ones of e-bay and audiogon have been selling close to 1200-1500. Please let me know
  17. Okay, Here is the thing - I finally have the opportunity to buy Klipschorn - for $1900 - Local Pick Up. The person claims they are in excellent condition with no damage to the cabinates with ALK crossovers - he says absolutely mint. Since they are never on sale - i have no clue whats a good price - I just know i can save on shipping. Please let me know. Thanks. Dhar
  18. Any suggestions for placement. - In regards to powering them, I will probably be using a Nakamichi TA-4A receiver. Thanks for your suggestions. D
  19. I was able to pick up the KG-4s for $100. The actually drivers appear to be in perfect condition - She claims she never opened them or over blasted them at loud volumes. The cabinets are in excellent condition except for some paint marks (but no damage to the wood). The only thing missing was one of the positive terminals for one of the speakers (not the whole terminal but just the red cap) - not a problem because I will use banana plugs The lady wanted to get rid of them because she claimed they are too big - I found it funny when she asked me if I had enough space for these (its funny if you already have a pair of cornwalls and la scalas). I'm new to the Klipsch world - my three pairs were bought within the past 2 months... these I bought just because they were only 100 bucks - just to try them out even though I have no use for them. I will leave feed back one I hook them up.
  20. There are two people locally selling Kplisch KG-4 for $100 and KG-5.2 for $180...... Any one of them worth it. Just thought I ask not too expensive to play around with now. Please share your thoughts... I read good stuff about the KG-4 at About.com as one best deal for the buck in used audio...nothing so far about the KG-5.2
  21. I have a Jungson JA-88D - 80 Watts/Channel Class A amplifier. It has had rave reviews... I bought it back in 2005 and it still looks new. Last on Audiogon flew for 840+shipping in less than 2 hours. I am willing to offer mine to the Klipsch community for $800. - And it is flawless, have all orignal content, wooden remote etc. I would agree with most reviews that this amp might now be for the super highs or low low, but its truly amazing for the mids. Only selling because one, I want to try tubes and two I am more fan of the low low bass (when it comes to using solid states). Will be triple boxed.
  22. I did pick up the Marantz 1060 for $65 after negociating for It was missing the jumpers between pre out and main in......it is in superb condidtion. I have not hooked it up to the la scalas but will post as soon as I get a chance.... My la scalas, are just sitting there for now. There is no space to place them. We are getting sunroom built and thats where I plan on moving them.... Most Importantly - thank you all for your suggestions, and input. I could not be more happier with my cornwalls, la scalas, and my nakamichi+marantz.
  23. Quick Question: Someone local is selling a Marantaz - 1060 vintage intergrated amp in supposedly 100% condition. I wantedt to know if its worth the try to hook it up with the La Scalas which are sitting idle. The marantz is for 80 bucks (not too bad - and ofcourse I will eventually go to a more expensive tube setup ).... Please let me know.
  24. Just a follow up.... I tried the Nakamichi TA-2 with me cornwalls (with new Bob C. cast frame woofers)...amazing....love it. I have yet to try it with the La Scalas.... to me personally...the difference between the sonic impact T to the Nakamichi was unbelievable.... .I got the Nakamichi for not too much of a steep price ($50). Just out of curiosity....how loud can the cornwalls go before there is any threat to blow the woofers.... I dont plan on doing this...but I would like to know the limit.
