  1. Ok , which one to purchase and why? Analog or digital ? A or C weighted or any other ? What not to buy, or look out for when buying. Thanks this will help when i go buy my meter this weekend.
  2. I have no problem adding a pic when i do a new post, my problem is adding apic to a reply? What is URL ? How do you insert / edit image when replying ? Thanks for any help Chris
  3. well i give up on attaching pics to replys [:|]
  4. Its hard to see but turntable is between the couch and love seat on the coffee table . Im not sure how to send pics on a reply using the ulr . So i had to post it again under the same title ?
  5. Just a few pics to show placement , and also this what i have to work with as far as room setup and acoustics. The blank spot under the tv is the placed i tried first (didnt work).
  6. Well the turntable is playing better, still has what ill describe as a light flutter when the volume is around 12 oclock position. It is 75% better . I moved it under the TV on the stand between the spkrs . That didnt work , a humm started happening about the 11 oclock position and if you left the volume up the hum got worst real bad ! So i moved it to the other end of the couch and used the coffee table to place it on, That works alot better , but you can still see the woofers flutter a bit at a good volume as i said at the beginning. I didnt have much wire laying around so i used a old 18 guage spkr wire to extend the ground back to the preamp. I know thats small but its all i had soooo... for now itll have to work. Any other suggestions , i feel as if this should play with no movement from the spkrs until they get the correct signal (correct)? Thanks again Chris
  7. Ya Mike if you havent been to Poors you need to go its a very nice shop and the guys there are or seem to be to me are full of knowledge. They have a room (the high dollar room ) that you can go and take a listen . To me it was my first true highend experience. As far as room acoustics any suggestions?
  8. The room is 13ftx 27ft , carpeted w/very good padding over hardwood flooring.. The drapes are very heavy material. Thanks for the pic of the spl meter , ill be getting one soon .
  9. holiday inn or residence inn , this is my first time which one to stay at . ? Are they close to each other ? I want to be were its happinin lol thanks Chris
  10. Thanks Mike ill do that soon, did you get my PM ealier? I cruised over to Champaign today. Went to Glenn Poors, Champaign audio and Good vibes . Good vibes was defiantely not as i exspected[] Cahmpaign Audio was cool talked with Duane for about a hour did some listening - Rotel style Nice stuff. But the system at Glenn Poors well thats in a league of its own WOW[:-*] Listen to the Wilsons Spkrs and the Balanced Audio tech stuff Pink Floyd dark side Very Cool. But back to reality my little adventure was over all nice . Much knowledge between the 2 upper end shops. Something i never new before today, when listening to those superb systems . No EQs or even bass and treble adjustments on the PreAmps ? It sounded great, to my suprise , so here i am at home listening my sounds totaly Flat. May take some getting use to , it does make sense. Maybe i have to much over kill. Less could be better (components that is). Thanks for the imfo on the SPL .... chris
  11. The SPL meters you all speak of , who has those for sale and are they acurate? The center speaker i have is not hooked up at this time. I honestly dont know how i would hook it up to what i have ?
  12. Once again thanks for the input guys, yes it does it with the lid on or off----- i dont thyink its a ground problem now that i have these replys . It doesnt hummm its like the speakers start to rumble , they are moving when they shouldnt be .I havent had a chance to mess with it today. But i will try moving the turntable tomorrow and then go from there.. I took a ride toChampain IL today (the only place close that has high end equipment) Glenn Poor Audio, Champaign Audio ,a Good vibes which is the only klipsch dealer around i know of . Learned alot talking with those guys about the overall system. Had a good listen to what High end is all about! But the price factor will kill a guy lol. Thanks again eveyone for the replys Chris
  13. They are in phase and no supressor thanks for the reply Rick
  14. Thanks Coytee, i agree withe the bigger the better then work your way down. I would have bought the Cf4s which have 12" woofers but at the time i got a good deal on these CF3s. I want some Imfo on this Indy deal. Ive never been to a audio deal such as that. Whats the name and how do i go about getting the Imfo . That would help me out alot as far as choices go . Thanks for the reply
  15. Thanks Mike ,yes im only 7 miles south of Decatur. Small world huh . Anyway im heading over gto champaign today to just go look at gvibes and also ive been told about another true High End place , i want to say Poure or (Poor) is the name of the store . I will ask around when i get there. Sure would like to listen to your set up sometime that sounds great, and in turn your more than welcome to come and take a listen at mine . You could probably give me a lot of insight . Im deffinatley still learning about how to set this gear up. I will be heading over there about 10 or so this morning , great day for a bike ride .[] I will pm you with my # ttyl Chris
  16. I wanted to thank everyone for the replys, i never would have thought that could be the problem . I have a set of 20ft RCA cables from my old car audio equipment. Ill give those RCAs a try , they are good quality . If they dont work then ill go buy the directional RCAs. Thanks again []
  17. As far as the selection of Klipsch spkrs, I have NO experiences with any other klipsch than the ones i own. Im starting to realize these may not be for me , as far as what im wanting to do .These speakers sound super but, I want to be able to crank it really good and not have to be scared something is about to give. I know what your going to say everything has a limit. This i know and understand, as far as my CF3s 250 watts rms and 1000 watt peak . Im having my doubts , in real world conditions . Im only using my phase linear 200 w/ch @ 8ohm . About noon is the limit ill take it to on the volume . What im asking is , which of the Klipsch spkrs is the best when it comes to power handling and sound quality or cant you have both? Maybe its a issue that i dont know about such as the pl, my 2 spec 2s are being worked on as we speak so until i can hook them up this is all i have . Is it my power im running to them ? Are the older Klipsch the very large ones with the angeled back something i should look into. I havent decided yet but have thought about this , maybe somone out there is wanting what i have (the cf3s) and they have something i want (some other klipsch spkrs)? Thanks for any help Chris[*-)]
  18. Just wondering , i have feedbck when i listen to the turntable only. Its not crazy bad , you can listen to it at moderate listening levels but dont crank it up or ad to much bass . Should all my equipment be grounded together? I only have the turntable grounded to the Preamp. Should i ground the Preamp and Amplifier together and the turntable ? Also i have a older home with the standard 2 wire NO ground in the outlets . This will be a big job so it may be a while before i can change all the electrical . Does that have anything to do with it? Tanks for any help Chris
  19. Is there a way to ad a pic when you just reply? The url thing , i just dont get it ?
  20. Thanks alot , that should help quite a few of us out . Have lot ot learn about the computer and my sounds. But i can tell ya this , i love the learning process . Its really cool when your waiting for that new toy to arrive []
  21. Thanks Rob , yes they have them , $186.00 each . I may have to go that route . Never know somebody just may have one for some crazy reason. Dont hurt to try , thanks again Chris
  22. Thanks Dave , stacking is out of the question do to these Cf3s stand 41" tall each . Ive got 8ft ceilings , that would just throw my girl for a loop . Although i have thought about it . Maybe 1 day when shes gone ill get a forklift in here and do that lol. I having one of those days you just cant get your music to sound the way you want it too. Does anyone else have this problem ? It really sucks ! [:^)]
