  1. Oldtimer, DKP, Arky, HundsonValleyNoah, peshewah, dachuckster, Loud&Clear, DrWho, jacksonbart, xdetroitx I wanted to thank each one of you for your replies. As you can probably look up my posts, I am still fairly new here. I have been doing research on speakers for quite some time and was set on purchasing the new RF-10 line. Dr.Who suggested that I save and buy piece by piece if I cannot afford it all. That's just what I did. Funny thing is I made this purchase sitting in Arkansas. I am visiting here. Tonight I purchased my first official pair of Klipsch speakers. I purchased the RF-7 (Maple Color) tonight at $999 for the pair. I have never owned high end audio speakers before. I still have a 9 year old JVC that is 75watt per channel, so I need to start saving again. Dont know if I will be able to use this receiver until I manage to save for something nice? Thanks for all your help and look forward learning more from you. Dave
  2. Wow- Thanks everyone for your input. Dr. Who, I think you were the original first poster to my question, and gave me advice on building up this system over time. Now with these RF-7's the only thing working against me is that you need tons of amp to push these. If I purchase these Rf-7's I really wont be able to enjoy them for quite some time, as I dont have the means to get an over $1000 piece of equipment for months. Just a JVC receiver that does about 75W per channel at this point. If I go with these lower models RF-62 or RF-82, then I could get more variety of receivers to choose from. I didnt think that this would be such a huge decision for me. I dont think my car purchase , or even house purchase had this much thought into it. Must mean that I love music and audio stuff. I am going to listen to a pair of 83, 82 and 62 tomorrow. I am definatley looking for a nice warm sound with a very balanced mid and high. I am looking for an overall performer with music and HT. Still open to your suggestions. Keep them coming. Thanks Dave
  3. Ok - Thanks everyone. Now what if I stepped it up a notch, and got the RF82. Can anyone comment on the difference between the Rf-7 and Rf-82 as far as sound? I know you will have me audition them, but there is no store where I can compare these two in my area. I love movie Soundtracks and music, but I also like to hear good mids and highs for more refined sound. I like a good balance in a speaker for HT and music. Decisions... Decisions.... to think that I was going to go for the Rf-10 and now deciding between these two? So on my list I am really deciding between RF-7, RF-82, or RF-62 Based on what I am looking for as far as sound which could be the better fit? Appreciate your input. Dave
  4. Thanks Arky and other members, I have been saving for a little while, and took everyones advice on building a system up. I was originally going to buy the rf-10 and am now at the point of deciding between Rf-62 or RF-7. Thanks Dave
  5. Thanks! Are you saying $999 for the pair or individual? They want to sell these rf-7 made in hope with a 5 year warranty for $750 a piece. Does this sound good? Is the Rf-7 in a different class than Rf-62? Thanks, Dave
  6. Hi, I was in a local store in Hot Springs Arkansas today. They had the RF 7, RC 7 in maple, cherry and black. They told me that these speakers are the ones that were manufactured in Hope Arkansas. Can you tell me if some Klipsch is made in another country? Or are they still made here in good old Hope Arkansas? The way the salesman explained it as if some are made overseas. Also, I could not get a comparison in sound between the Rf7 and RF 62. I liked the RF-62s when I heard them in a different store - its sounded well balanced, but I also liked the Rf7, especially the cherry finish. My room is around 17X13 and I love Movies (Love soundtracks). I would use it for a dedicated home theatre. Any suggestions from those of you who have compared these two or have owned both? Thanks Dave
  7. Hi Everyone, First thanks to all for your advice on saving up and purchasing the Rf-62's one by one to build up my system. I joined a few weeks back, and have been ejoying reading the threads. I dont have the RF-62's yet at this time, but will in a few more months. I am also taking on the task of pre-planning for our dedicated home theatre room. It is small around 17 feet in length x13 feet in width. I wish to build a front home theatre wall, with a stage and two side enclosures for speaker placement, as well as an enclosure for the center speakers. I am planning on having a open hole inside this enclosure ((size of speaker) where the RF-62 will slide right into and am planning for the speaker to be seen thus not covering up these enclosure holes (maybe only when not in use) Are there any problems with having the RF-62's in a dedicated side enclosure (basicaly just wood frames and maybe some material covers) I appreciate your feedback. Thanks
  8. Thank you everyone for your replies. I was misinformed. The room is approximately 17X3 which is = 200 Sqaure feet. Would you still recommend the RF 62? I was originally going to get the RF-10, but I am taking your advice and saving for the RF-62. This is an investment and I wish to do it right. Any other ideas appreciated. Dave
  9. Can you explain to a newbie what is meant by crossover? What is it and how does it work? Thanks, Dave
  10. Wow! Guys, What a great response I have received. I like your thought process of seeing this as an investment, which it is. My father-in law has had these "gigantic" Klipsch speakers for almost 30 years, and they are the best I have heard. When he put on Appolo 13, the house literally shook at take off. I am still itching to know what model he has. I think that you have made some excellent recommendations on me building up this system. I would rather take my time and do this properly. If you know of a good dealer in Austin (not best buy) please forward their info to me. Thanks, Dave
  11. Thank you for your reply James. My budget would be around $2000 (this would include the speakers and amp) I guess I could do that in building my system as I go along. I am located in Austin Texas. Would the RF - 52 fronts and the rest of the speakers RF-10 series be a bad match? Dave
  12. Hi All, I am exited to join this forum. My father in law has these hughe Klipsch Speakers twice the size of those Hereseys. They look like about 5-6 foot tall and I think they were originally in an old movie theatre in the 70's or early 80's not sure. I wonder what kind they are. Recommendations: My wife and I are building our first home and we are exited! We will have a media room (Theatre and Music) and I wish to have solution for my first speaker purchase. The room size is approx. 300 Square feet. I recently went to Best Buy and listened to the RF IV series and loved the low frequencies especially. The sound waas pleasing to my ears with both music and movies. I also like the look of these speakers as they will fit nicely in my new media room. The system that I auditioned was the RF-52 series. However the price is slightly out of range. I saw on the recommended list for Klipsch website the RF-10 series. Question 1 : Would the RF-10 be sufficient for that size room for movies and music? Question 2: If I decided to purchase the RF-52 front speaker pair with: RC-10 Center RS-10 Surrounds RPW-10 Subwoofer Would It cause a misbalance in loudness/surround etc? Interested in your thoughts on this. Thanks Dave
