  1. After watching the Monster 3500 mkII on ebay for weeks I stumbled on this deal. A PureAV PF60 for $156, with shipping at $18, it arrived in three days, one day earlier than the tracking specified. Looks great and has good reviews. Just hooked up my receiver last night. Don't know about music yet but with no input I turned the volume up all the way. That annoying humm is gone so it is doing something. http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=2634436
  2. I wonder if I could have missed the normal speaker jacks, it is not a complicated receiver. It has RCA jacks for the sub and the center. I did get the sub to work but it is a RS-12 and has the built in amp. I will have to look closer tonight. Update, Boy, do I feel stupid. I actually went behind the cabinet with a flashlight and there the jacks were. I had been plugging into the pre outs. I guess my punishment is the humiliation I feel for even posting this question without looking closer. Please forgive me.
  3. Hello Folks, I am hooking up my new Klipsch speakers and have come accross a problem. My RC-6 center channel has the traditional pos and neg hook-ups but my Yamaha receiver has one RCA plug for center channel hookup. Should I strip the end of a patch cord and hook both wires to one post on the speaker. Please help out.
  4. I just released my new sub from its box. As this is my first I am not sure which connection scheme I should use. And I also don't know the advantages and disadvantages of each. Should I use the RCA cables or use the "high frequency" connection? Why would I want to use this? Thanks in advance.
  5. I plan on driving them with a Yamaha RX-V659. Got a very good deal on it. As this is my first HT system I was not even sure what I was looking for. I think the KG 5.2's will continue to age with me. I have just the room picked out for them. Thanks for the advice.
  6. Well I began buying speakers here and there off of Ebay a week of two ago. I made my last purchases today and would just like your opinions while they are being shipped. Helps to pass the time hearing what others think. All speakers are new in the box. RF-62's RC-52 RS-42's RW-12d Any words of advice would be welcomed as I have not had a home theater set-up before. I will be listening to both music and HT equally. Now, how do I explain this to my faithful old KG-5.2's who have served me well for the past 13-14 years. Thanks in advance.
  7. Can someone please explain what bi-wiring is and what its purpose is? Thanks
  8. I added some updated info and new questions to the original post. Thanks again.
  9. Thanks very much for the info. So I would actually be using regular speakers for the rear surround?
  10. I have a pair of KG-5.2 speakers purchased in the mid '90's. I would like to put together a surround system but am wondering about the compatibility of the old and new. I am looking at the RC-52 for center and RS-42 for the side surrounds and then using the 5.2's for the front. Does anyone have an opinion on how these will work together? Thanks in advance. I have an update. Before I read the post below about not working well together I bid on a RC 52 center speaker on Ebay. Ended up winning it, so I am going to have to use it. I have a line on a pair of KG-3.2's that I can buy for the side/rear surround. Any opinions on whether this set up will work out? Will the RC center cause enough problems that I should not use it? Thanks again in advance.
  11. I have a pair of KG 5.2's I purchased back in the mid-90's. They have been a great pair of speakers. I recently took the grilles off for inspection and found cracks/tears in the 10" powered woofer on both speakers. The tears are in the flexible membrane that seals the speaker and allows the cone to move. Is there any way to repair this. What are my options. In searching posts it appears that Klipsch no longer stocks this part. As a last ditch fix could I use silicone chaulk(sp) of some sort to seal the cracks? The speakers work fine, maybe I should just ignore the tears. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
