what kind of cable would you use?

I play my MP3's off of my computer not an MP3 player

I'm pretty sure it is just because of the way it is hooked up but whenever I play my MP3's through my computer (my computer is hooked up to my HT) I get a huming noise that gets louder as I turn the volume up. I'm new at this so please bear with me!
