Anyone here know of a technician in the central fl area (Orlando to Daytona), who works on older Marantz receivers(70's)?
Thanks!

I just bought a Pioneer SX580 fairly inexpensive. Yes I know it can't compare to your tube stuff but it is only for the garage. I hooked up a pair of La Scalas to it, and there is unbelievable humming noise, plus static when you adjust the volume. Not being a audio tech, I could use some help here. I'm really a Marantz fan, but the price was too good to pass up.
Thanks for your help,
Jay

Three things.
1. Nice shop and work
2. Have to try that Dragon's Milk
3. I have a pair of the JBL 2600's in your picture, as my computer speakers-awesome.
Keep the pics and narrative coming.
Thanks

Thanks for the responses. The Lascalas I have, were built in '88. The tweeter is a K-77, the horn is a K-55-M. I dont' know what he woofer is as I don't want to open the case. The crossover is a Type AL.
Mentioned difference was a K-400 horn. ? What is the difference between it and the K-55-M?
What horn is in '77 thru '84 Cornwalls?
Thanks !!

I know this has probably been covered in the past, but nothing turned up when I searched- albeit briefly.
What is the difference? Is it just the horn?
Thanks

Panacea's method will work, but what I would do first is try what a furniture guru I know does before he goes to the time and expense of refinishing a piece of furniture.
Get some rags and wipe down the cabinets with lacquer thinner. It not only removes some of the stain, but you get a uniform color and finish.
This you can do in a couple of hours. If you like the result, your done. If you don't, then go the complete refinishing route. This is what I am going to do to a pair of Cornwalls.

Older Lascalas with AL crossovers. Looking for spec sheets - drivers, cabinet dimensions, etc. I am hoping there is a file/folder somewhere with the specs for all the old Klipsch speakers. Thanks

I don't have a problem with the Wendell Cane, but you could talk to places that re-cane chairs, etc. Might require a new grill frame, as the plastic stuff in my Cornwalls is too flexible.

Hey Budman, What brand of spray glue?
-
Where do they use this material on a piano?
-
By "hot glue", do you mean just a glue gun?
How about re-grilling?
Thanks

Being an audiophile, as defined by Bob Crites, My suggestion is this. Pack them in boxes and send to me. We can work out a fair price, and you will have piece of mind knowing you are rid of them.
I will pay for the shipping too.

Hi psg.
Thanks for the Google tip!
-
WOW! It is all Greek to me.
-
If you look closely at Batman's car in Dark Knight, it had a killer Klipsch sound sytem. These were the grilles.

I will ditto what Groomslake said, and add that MDF is just one step up from particle board.
-
Thanks HDBR, that makes sense. I will probably strip. If the walnut is bad, I can always veneer over it.

I would like a pair of those industrial cabinets, but I have never seen a pair for sale. I have even thought of making and attaching another front to make an existing pair flush like that.

I just bought a pair of Hersey's off Craigslist. The labels on the back say HWB 57S840. According to my Klipsch file, they were made in 1978. It is the WB which I have a question about. W stands for Walnut, and I guess B stands for Black. However, I don't see a designation for WB in my file. They are Black, but it is/was not laquer. It almost looks like a stain, or maybe just one coat of paint, as the grain shows through. There is a sport the size of a quarter where the paint is gone, and the wood looks like Walnut. But what do I know.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for all who answer. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
No, these aren't the Ones, and she didn't come with them. Darn!

Thanks Bill!
I did unscrew while I was waiting for a reply, and saw the hole, so I thought it would be for wire (big wire). Will try later.
Thanks again,
Tom

It is called "mental masturbation"! There is a great deal of that on Audiogon.
