I recorded some music onto cassettes using a Nakamichi deck. It was every bit as good as good vinyl. Most cassette decks were crap... and doomed to failure.I had forgotten how seriously everyone seemed to be taking cassettes as a hi fidelity medium.

I still use a Nakamichi, and have a lot of NOS metal tapes. The sound is great!!

There are also good and bad pressings in vinyl. All the cleaning in the world won't help an album that sounded like crap hot off the press.

That sucks, I agree that their hardware isn't anything special, but their design is second to none IMHO. They're built at the same places many other computer brands are built, with the same parts. One thing they have going for them is they control their hardware, which keeps the chances of having software conflicts to a minimum.
Since I've completely swithched to Mac, my headaches have diminished due to their OS. That said, I haven't tried anything on Windows past XP.

i found a patch, that allow the movie watching, but now, no kid could use my server.

And worse part, no apps on apps store to replace Front Row entertainement center!

I went to an Apple TV box and haven't looked back. You don't need a computer connected to your intertainment system.

At the beginning of PINK FLOYD'S, WISH YOU WERE HERE track (on the album of the same name) you can hear David Gilmour clear his throat prior to the beginning of his vocals. No effort was made to remove the sound.

Yes it's an old quarter cut oak library table. It looks saggy, but it's due to the drawer sitting lower. I need to fix that.
I'd rather have a nice rack to sit the bits on, but I don't have a space to store the table. It has some sentimental value

It isn't 150 wpc, or even new, but this would drive that music well on those speakers:
Fisher 500C Stereo Tube Receiver, Original Tubes, Mint
You would be surprised how much sound 35 watts will get you from a tube amp.
If you really must make your ears bleed, Onkyo Pro and Onkyo Integra both have 100 wpc stereo receivers. Anthem has one that is 225 wpc. OUCH!

That's definately a great receiver, but I wouldn't feel comfortable using it without a refresh. The dollars will add up.

Good Thread guy's. I was definately under the mis-conseption that MC cartridges were just nastalgia. I honestly never looked into it because of that, but what djk says makes me very interested. Many quality vintage preamps & receivers have inputs for MC.
Not "jacking" the thread, hopefully still relevant, what would you guys suggest as a good entry level MC under say $150.
By the way djk I am 100 percent down with your avitar!!
You can't beat this price on a DL103. The problem with this company is it can take a few weeks to get your cartridge, but you will get it.
You'll need a higher mass tone arm due to the low compliance of this cartridge.

I'd steer away from their entry level tt's. Now a P3-24 is a solid table. For the price of a p1, you could get a vintage table that would be much better quality wise.Anyone familiar with these? I stumbled upon the brand last night. Their entry models are inexpensive and supposedly high quality. I found a web site that sells them directly but I don't think they're authorized.

I had a lucky day Tues. I found a sealed Classic records 200gm Led Zeppelin IV at my local record store for $30.
They sell on eBay for over $200!
