  1. If you scout thier website you see for sound klipsch 5.1 thx certified(for $350) I to looked into the AW surround sound but i own a laptop from them and by far the worst customer service and quality or product and timely repair of said product I have ever seen. AW claims they are a small corporation owned by dell, well when dell took over 6 months ago 1 day i was talkin to texas to get my laptop fixed next day india. Thats only my experience with them but i doubt im the only. the $2000 dvd dvr is what you get for the package you have to upgrade to get the klipsch speakers $350 and that seems to me to be insanely over priced being the fact they are using a discontinued cpu in it. I would get a tivo befor ei would jump into that. My 2 copper
  2. I also am a noob to AV. I have a decent sized room roughly 500sq. I went with rf,rc,rs10's all around a denon avr-1707 reciever and a rw-10d sub, I also had prior a 46inch dlp samsung. I listen to rock rap classic rock and well anything basically. and it is crisp like you wouldnt believe. My system aside from the sub is as entry lvl as ya get. I have yet to turn it up past -6dbs due to the fact that it is just so clear and loud. I dont have a dedicated room for ht so i make due in my livign room. My wife was happy with the purchase when the THX sounds and screen played on a dvd last weekend (the dog started howlign and the cups on the table vibrated). These speakers (klipsch) are truely one of the best i have ever seen. What is funny about this is that I burned through 3 htib and was so irritated with it decided i would go with this type setup. my system pic is in show us your HT thread page 87 i believe. Only you can decide if you bought the right stuff. i think i went a bit heavy on the sub but i can turn it down if needed. Only hope none of your speakers buzz, it burned me for 3 days untill the dealer finally herd it and authorised the replacement of a new center.
  3. I am currious to know the amount of people in america or any other industrialised, information aged country, That actually use all HDTV hdmi 7.1 optical "techyness"(hell i bet that alot of 360 owners wonder why thier xbox came with 3 extra cables). What my prediction is that yes people in my state have hdtv's but obviously not that many due to the fact that the best buy down the street from where i live do not display hddvd or bluray players. You have to ask for them. And the local cable company has 7 hd channels only 1 or them in my eye true hdtv, discovery hd theater. i seriously think that if microsoft used the display port who would buy it maybe 1% or lower of people who would even have a compatible TV. I own a 360 premium with the component cables and happy with it, i dont care to want the displayport. I guess for you few hardcore pavers of entertainment tech might want it but why? I just got a hdtv 7 months ago and a HT 8 days ago. my cable company is still working on upgrading thier lines to carry the insane amount of info needed to have 100 hdtv lins in place of 100 normal tv lines. If you buy all the baddest *** electronic gizmos you will be far infront of the infrastructure needed to supply your tronics. Im in okc so im not sure about the techyness of where your from but here my medeocre set up is probebly one of the nicer ones in my area. now mas has an idea close to mine about bluray, USEFULL for computers just to early for home video entertainment.
  4. This is my new Home theater, I ran the cables in wall through the cable jack plate for my surrounds. It is a start but id liek to go bigger someday
  5. Her ipod is old and her phone is old so today im goign to get here a pink nano and then pick her up a new phone. I know how it works
  6. I went to 2 home audio specialty stores in my home town on sunday. I auditioned both places equally with my wife. "she is always envolved in a big purchase" Looked at every brand both had to offer. I have settled for my room size a rf-10 set up with a rw-10 sub. I have seen your posts here on the forums about how these sound but nothing like hearing them. Even definitives speakers that were more costly didnt have the sound my ears want. When the salesman turned up the system using the denon AVR-1707 which is both in my price range and wattage range i want it was unbelievable how it sounded then he said "that is only the floor speakers let me show you the full 5.1" I was sold then he put on robots and it was the scene where he just got to the big city and it was perfect. I cant wait till i get the system. going thursday to pick it up. Untill then i have to deal with this damn HTIB now it bothers me because i have herd remarkable quality. NOTE: the wife says that the grills stay off. I will post a pic when I finish the install this weekend. Again thank you for your help via inbox.
  7. This is alienwares new hd dvr tivo kinda htib, WIth klipch speakers, http://alienware.com/product_detail_pages/hangar18/hangar18_overview.aspx the only thing i was curious about is what kind of speakers does it have? It only says klipsch 5.1 thx but the upgrade is only $300.00 I would think if i was interested in buying this i would want to know what kind of speakers it had.
  8. I am only 22 so dont completely remember beta-vhs I do remember when the laser disk came out. Besides that I had one of the origionally released PS2's the old brick one. I never one time played a DVD in it and it worked until my cat jumped on the rack it was on and it fell 1 month before the 360 was released. Good friend of mine used it as his DVD player 1 year later PS2 shat the bed. I have a 360 for gaming dont want a ps3 (i think that if i had it id use blu-ray disks in it and it would crap out on me) I know my friend wasnt the only person who seen "disk read error" I am in OK and we dont have this extensive HDTV cable here, Roughly 7 or 8 stations is considered the "premium" package. I to want to dive in the world of HD-format for my home theater, (to be installed soon) Out of the many people at my work only 1 I know of who had a blu-ray player is a ps3. He told me he bought a blu-ray player that can also play video games. Is that a large chunk of what people might have done to get a blu-ray player just buy a ps3? I literally just found out about upscaling dvd players and im hooked. Cheaper then either format and I dont have to rebuy scarface. I have 1 piece of enlightenment I haven't seen in this forum yet. Vivid video ....yeah i know. They have chosen blu-ray as thier format. With a little research <god bless google> It states that the "adult video industry" selected vhs when the beta/vhs war started. Is this a hindsight of what might happen again? Also the adult video industry did not chose laser disk when it came out. When i think of new sony technology, I see it being used years later "cough" mini disk" psp UMD? The amout of information a blu-ray can have is insane for todays standards of computers, maybe not insane but leaps from a dvd capacity. Maybe this will be the next cdrom type format. I and my co-workers seem to get into technology battles every so often and this one is something neither side is sure about. I would ike to know so i can stop beating the bush and finally buy a hd player.
  9. There are a few things i cant seem to make myself buy used. Cars, videogames, computers and speakers. I was told may years ago by my high school music teacher that basically the only thing she doesnt buy used are speakers. I have no idea if they were beat up on or sat for 2 years. I dont know the breakin stage of klipsh's but my jl audio in my car took about 3 weeks to break in.When i say entry level im serious, I have currently a jvc htib that would work fine if the damn cable from the back to the speaker wire hub would work all the time. I am just looking for something that looks clean sounds good and works well. I am also going to run the in wall speaker wire from my reciever to the other side, any in wall wire will work correct? I have 10ft celings and 18 ft to get to the other wall so basically 38ft of wie from the reciever to the speaker for my surrounds. And yes i will post the pics of my HT when it is done ty for all the opinions they help
  10. One more thing My living room is open air set up I have heard from my neighbors that also are in HT say the room will never be good enough accoustically, due to the fact there is a corner fireplace and you can basically see the livingroom dining room and kitchen from my seating area. Thank you on the sugestions I will be going to my local HT stores this next saturday to try some more out. Is it best to go in to the stores saying i have ~2000 to spend or will they rip me off like a used car dealer? is there any type of reciever brand i should shy away from? I hear denon is highly recomended by many friends.
  11. I am sick of throwing away HTIB's I have been through 3 in 3 years. I want to step it up to an entry level system. I have a few questions refering to klipschs' RF10 series. Is this a decent system for my usage. I watch movies and tv on my living room surround. I have a 46inch samsung hdtv and the room size is 18ft by 22 ft. I truely like the way the klipsch line looks and I do not dislike the "bright" sound that comes with the horns. I have ~$2000 to spend on my 5.1 and reciever what shal I look into getting? I looked at denon avr1707 will this match up nicely to the rf-10 5.1 I dont like the sub klipsch has on the systems tab so I would like to go with the rw-10d or 8 depending where my budget puts me. Will this be enough to claim it as entry level? I am not close minded to sugestions though
