  1. thanks for the source....will check it out...what I would like to do is terminate the cables on wall jacks at each end for a neat appearance then jump from the sub to the wall jack...I might buy some extra RCA's and practice a bit....
  2. I have a rt-12d that i need to run about 50 feet of cable to. Up two 12 foot walls and across the space about 15 feet plus some slack......I have to make up my own cable.......I have been looking on a couple of websites that sell bulk cable but do not know what is my best option...I prefer not to buy a pre-made cable.....How difficult is it to make up the RCA connections....soldering iron?
  3. yep....registered it today for my rt-12d sub I had to turn the thing upside down to get the serial number.....not to simple easy of a task doing it alone.... I would have gotten it off the box but the dealer said the box was damaged when it came into his shop (he had to order it for me) so he took it out of the box and played it for a week to make sure nothing was wrong with it...he through the box away....
  4. oh by the way....Beavis rules!!! are there any dvd's out there yet of those nuts?
  5. Not to beat this to death but....the manuals do need a little work.....nothing in the manual states the binding posts are to point up. I would think with (especially for a over tv position) the binding posts would point down to reduce strain on a banana plug connection....... If you look close at the picture (figure 2?) the threaded bolt is shown at the rear (or front) CENTER not offset to either side of the horn......is there not any room to provide to holes placed between the woofers? just seems odd.......will hook it up this weekend.....hopefully I can get my sub hooked up too.....
  6. I posted my messages last night....this AM I had a little time before heading out to work to read the Owner's manual.....It stated to check for wood beetles prior to installation (I translated that from the chinese instructions)...(i did not read anything about the binding post position...a bit of common sense once the "kickstand" is taken into account.....I did find the bolt in the package and realized what the holes were for. The one closest to the drivers to point the speaker up/the one closest to the binding post to point the speaker down......BUT........ Why are the holes off center of the center axis? Simply to avoid the horn? That is what thru me off...I would have figured the holes for the kick stand would be located along the center axis which is probably the center of mass of the speaker....i guess the 60 lb speaker is heavy enough so the kick stand position won't matter that much......Wouldn't it be better to provide two kick stands each located between the two woofers to provide greater stability? At least it would have kept me from freaking out all paranoid and stuff thinking i got swindled by some factory reject....apologies to Klipsch....I am sure they would not allow any "seconds" to be sold......
  7. the speaker is on a shelf above my tube.....the speaker cable terminals are slanted down to the floor....the holes are on top in the wood....two holes spaced about 12" apart on an angle....one about 3" from the back edge and the other about 4.5" from the back edge.....should i contact klipsch directly?
  8. I just purchased a new RC-64 from an authorized dealer, not from the internet. The dealer did not have it in stock and had to order it. I was informed of its arrival (two weeks late) and recieved it brand new, in the box wrapped in Klipsch plastic. The top of the speaker has two 3/32" drilled holes on a diagonal....is this the way it comes from the factory? If so why are the hole not plugged? Did the dealer arrange to get "seconds" to save a few bucks? What are the drilled holes for?
  9. gotta rt-12d sub...just purchased..... need to run 50 to 60 feet of cable from my denon 3808 receiver to it.....coax? is'nt there some audio cable for this......single strand w/'shield?? anything to buy off the net??
  10. so.....my tv screen reads my 130 wpc denon 3808 is putting out -20 dB.....does that mean it is putting out 13 watts?? or is it -20dB from its reference level....(reference level not in spec) I want to listen to what 1 watt into my RF-83 speakers sounds like per the klipsch spec.....don't know the recording level of the cd....that is probably necessary to know..... comments??
  11. thanks......I think I am going to put the 52's on the two columns rather that hang them from the ceiling behind by chair.....read on one of the forums that theyt should be place on a wall....I guess for the bass response....seems odd though...I thought ports behind the speaker affected response versus placement close to a wall....these are sealed speakers and the angled drivers pattern at 180 degreees....might do some experimenting.....
  12. thanks for the info.....I finally bit the bullet and purchased my surround system. I talked the wife into tolerating floor standing speakers instead of the bookshelf......I got the RF83 fronts, RC-64 center, RS-52 surrounds (space limitations) and the RT-12D sub......I might trade in the RS-52's and get the RS-62's if I can find a ceiling bracket for them....I have not taken them out of the box yet....only had time to hook up the fronts.....My wife was amazed after she heard the fronts playing.....She agreed to have the surrounds suspended from the ceiling.....can't wait 'till the weekend to get up in the attic......Driving them with the Denon 3808CI....
  13. This is my first post to the forum. This is also my first time researching for audio equipment since 2000. I had some nice Infinity's, a Klipsch center and surrounds and a small sub driven by and onkyo reciever. All got washed away by Katrina. Oh well......now I can have fun buying new stuff.... I cannot decide what to get or how far I want to go with my new set up. I am in a new house but plan on building a new home in 3 years or so with a home theater so my wife won't holler at me when I crank up the movies/tunes.....anyway....research has brought me from a bose system all the way to tube amps, b&w nautilus speakers, acoustic analysis, etc....too much info.....(but fun) besides the wife is getting impatient...... I have decided to stay a little above middle of the road and not go super high end for now if ever......my budget is about 5k to 6k. my tv area is about 24 feet wide and my "chair" is about 16 feet from my 61" samsung. twelve foot ceiling. the room (behind by chair) opens into the kitchen (no walls only columns) and extends back another 26 feet or so with 10 foot ceilings.....floors are hardwood with rugs, kitchen floor is ceramic tile...generally the space is pretty reflective (big sofas though) I do not have a place to put my surrounds except in the 10 foot ceiling about two feet behind my chair. no place to put to more surrounds at all. I would like to get a 7.1 receiver (denon 110 watts/ch or maybe 130 watts/ch) so i can use it in my future house (if the wife squaks about the home theater room) where i will plan for the extra two surrounds.... will there be any issues using a 7.1 receiver in a 5.1 setup? I am seriously looking at the Klipsch reference rb-81 set in my entertainment center positioned close to the floor, with a rc61 center over the tv and the reference series 8" ceiling speakers.....any idea for a sub? probably a klipsch rw-12d or something similar shoved in the corner... i listened to both the klipsch and similar b&w's and found the b&w's a bit muffled....like the klipsch better...they jumped out at me...they look cool with the copper woofer too.... I would appreciate any advice....much thanks.... any ideas or advice?
