  1. No difference with a new RCA cable. Will try in a shop / Best Buy, hope to solve the mystery.
  2. I heard the noise over the phone; it's mostly white noise / static. Back to normal with the sub disconnected. I told him to take it to a local stereo to try a different receiver. Also suggested a different RCA cable, thanks.
  3. Using an RCA cable from the receiver to the sub. The sub replaced a Klipsch SUB-10 that worked for a few years before blowing out its fuses. The Quintet SL's are all plugged into the receiver.
  4. I've forwarded the questions along. In the meantime, just curious what your guess would be? I think all the speakers are playing noise. How would your idea change if just one speaker?
  5. Friend says he plugged in a K-100SW subwoofer into a system of Yamaha receiver circa 2008 and Quintet SL speakers. The speakers became noisy after that but sound fine without the subwoofer. This is already a replacement subwoofer after Klipsch support said the first one was likely bad. He may try it at a neighbor's house but wondering if anyone came across something similar? Not sure if the sub itself was working, I'm following up.
  6. Mine had a static-y volume control out of the box. I got them from Amazon and the box was pretty banged up. Not sure if I got something completely new. How were your vol controls out of box?
  7. I just got these a week ago and this thread makes me nervous. At $90 for a pair of 2.0's, they should provide peace of mind in addition to great sound. I'll give them a fair chance but I'm watching my 30 days closely and they're going back if anything is off. Mine had a small piece of masking tape sticking out from the vertical slit near the front; no big deal of course but unexpected. Back in 2001, I got a pair of Logitech Soundman X1's (2.1) for free after rebate, because they were being cleared out, and they're still running fine in 2007. They'll probably last for virtually forever. Something for $90, like the Promedia Ultra 2.0's, should match that durability at the very least.
