  1. Joe---I purchased a pair of 1976 walnut Cornwalls for $850.00 a few months ago. Now that I have had time to really listen to them, I can tell you that they are just really wonderful sounding speakers. I have had some "audiophile" speakers in the past, and the Cornwalls blow all of them out of the water. Knowing what I know now, I would pay two or even three times the price I paid! If you have a chance to buy a pair, don't let them slip away---just do it--you will NOT be sorry...... Johnny ------------------ Johnny
  2. Klipsch Cornwalls in beautiful oiled walnut--serial #'s 9P746 and 9P747. Fellow Klipsch guys & girls, I finally got a perfect pair from a great guy in Dallas (for $850) who had purchased a pair of Klipschorns. They are powered with a Tandberg amp. & pre-amp. (150w, solid state). Let me tell you--the sound is well, I really can not do them justice with mere words. Smooth, clear, detailed, full, DYNAMIC, wonderful deeeep base, great wonderful sound stage--I could go on & on---but, I think most of you know what I am trying to get across. Maybe it is the great Tandberg amp, but I have not heard any harshness, etc. that I have sometimes read about. Mods? Well, not now--for me there is nothing to improve on. I have waited about six weeks to report because I wanted to give enough time for a fair report. I did listen to a new pair of 30's at a dealer before getting the Cornwalls--and to my ears the Cornwalls were just better. Does anyone have any more info on the Cornwalls with the serial numbers I have? Anything will really be appreciated. Thanks everyone for all the great help you gave me when I was shopping! If anyone has any reservations about getting Cornwalls---Don't---just get them! And, thanks Paul Klipsch for your wonderful contribution to sound--you were inspired by the heavens above..........Johnny ------------------ Johnny
  3. After years of waiting, I am getting a set of Cornwall I's (1976) in beautiful oiled walnut. What should I look for (and hear for) when auditioning them? Also, will the cable connectiions in back be a lot different from my McIntosh XR-16 speakers (the monster cable wire is pushed into a round hole connection)? If it is different, what will I need to do? I am really excited about this--the seller says they are in perfect condition....THANKS!!!! ------------------ Johnny
  4. I have an opportunity to purchase a set of Cornwall I's (1976) in good condition for $800.00. I have heard the I's many times but never the II's. Several posts here have given me the impression that the II's are an improvement and a better sounding speaker. I would really appreciate any information to help me decide if I should purchase the I's or wait until a set of II's become available. THANKS very much!! Johnny ------------------ Johnny
