I wanted to take a moment first to thank the members here for not bashing myself here as well. I will not go into the details of that auction (which is now gone I see) mostly because I am still in awe about the whole thing. The crazy thing about all this is that the 601 did leave a LOT to be desired in regard to build quality but it really did sound very good for a $300 tube player. All the initial reviews as well as customer feedback indicated the build quality was junk. Nobody is denying that.
The JD100 is actually the 4th generation Jolida player. The 601 was the first, then came the 602 and then the 603. The 603 was the plastic silver unit. This also sounded very good but there were issues with the Sony transport and Sony would not stand behind them. The JD100 was Jolida's way of getting out from under the reputation caused by the it's predecessors and was designed and built from the ground up.
