  1. Wow - my high-school jazz band (or college, for that matter) didn't have a bass player like this. Geoffrey Keezer is also "pretty good"...
  2. I was just listening to a Zoot Sims number this morning ("Somebody Loves Me"). Amazing stuff.
  3. Funny, but this is my cliche image of an audiophile... I find a lot of folks here get fairly heated over the "loudness wars" and other fidelity-degrading effects of modern recording practices. One of the reasons for the question is to get a ground-floor truth of what people really think that come to this forum.Chris
  4. http://radar.oreilly.com/2009/03/the-sizzling-sound-of-music.html [^o)] http://i.gizmodo.com/5166649/ipods-and-young-people-have-utterly-destroyed-music [] Do you agree with the key tenets of the authors' message: that some/many people prefer recorded material with artifacts introduced by the recording media process (particularly MP3 and vinyl)?
  5. Different version, JB (cheating a little - on DVD-V).
  6. I don't think Art Tatum played anything that wouldn't knock your socks off. This one is a "re-performance" from last year--in SACD surround on a new Yamaha piano using recent recording technologies. I couldn't listen to old Art Tatum recordings for long because of the recording technologies used. This one has my full attention: highly recommended. Chris
  7. This title grows on you--it's great for checking out general system balance.
