  1. Yes, the dotted lines on the floor plan represents the elevation section, and currently the drop down is vertical. I'll try to get that drop down section angled so the in walls can be 'aimed' correctly but I'm not sure the if the WAF will allow it since she's the architect/interior designer on the house - literally. That's why I was considering the 5650's because of their wide dispersion abilities and both the 5800 and 5650 have the "pivoting horn allows listeners to point the sound where they want it to go" feature which if I have to leave the drop down sections verticle could then allow for better aiming at the very least. Another thing I was wondering is if on the verticle section could the grill be mounted like normal, but then behind it in wall the actual speaker be angled downward 45 degrees to be correctly positioned to compensate for being mounted on a verticle wall? I'm just not sure how it could be mounted securely while not being attached to the grill? No rush on the flush mounting the center details, a week will be great.
  2. OK I've finally got a rendering of my ceiling elevation, the drop down section where the red speaker lables are shown is three feet in height: Living Room ceiling Also DrWho if you have a chance to get those details for the best way to flush mount the center channel in the wall I'd appreciate it.
  3. Another good bang for you buck 720 plasma with increased sized is the 58" Panasonic TH-58PH10UK, it's the professional model and is a couple hundred under your $2,500 sending limit.
  4. I'll get a rendering of the ceiling so you can see exactly what the the installation area looks like as soon as possible. I do know that the drop down section is three feet so mounting speaker vertically or horizontally would be fine. Also your points about dispersion made me look closer at the 5650 versions, the 'S' version has "two vertically stacked Tractrix® Horn-loaded tweeters pointing in opposite directions" as opposed to the "W" version which has "square 90-degree by 60-degree pivoting Tractrix® Horn" just like the 5800 W. So would the wide angle of dispersion by the 5650 be lessened by going with the "W" version?
  5. WOW! Thank you both for the excellent input! I'm reenergized now with these new options. theplummer, actually my wife likes the Fortes since they match well with the wood floor that will be in that room and adjacent hallway - I guess she sees them as decorations [] I've also been reading a lot about the 5800's and my local dealer has a room with five set up in to check them out, I think I'll go by at lunch today and check them out. DrWho, thanks also for your input I really like your idea because I can keep my existing fronts which I LOVE! I do have on have one question for the four surrounds, would it be possibly better to go with the 5650s for the side surrounds becuase of their wide range? I was going by this comment by Professor Thump: That was from this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/94787/962186.aspx#962186 So would be better to go with the 5650s on the sides espeically since I'll be mounting them higher than desired and go with the 5800s in the rear? Also DrWho I'm very interested in the best method to flushmounting the center channel speaker, so when you have time please post the pictures you metioned that go into more detail. And yes this is new home construction. Thanks again to everyone and this forum is a life saver!
  6. Thanks all that does make sense and you are right because of a hall on the left there's no wall there so that's why I was going to mount the side surrounds in the drop down portion of the box cieling and angle them down (that's really not clear in my 2-D plan that I have attached sorry about that). So for example on my right rear surround would not actually be on the exterior wall it would be two feet in from the exterior in the three foot drop down section that forms the boxed area - so it's really in that boxed in area in the ceiling in the 9 foot drop down section angled downward. I agree it's not optimal but for that room it seems the best I can do for placement of the side surrounds.
  7. OK so you are saying take the current KLF-C7 center I have and get another and make these my left and right surround? I thought that the C7 didn't match my Forte's timbre wise so it wouldn't work? That's how this all started [:|] I could go with KG 1.5s for all four surrounds as a step up from the KB .5 or the KG 1. Just wasn't sure about how mounting a 1.5 in the wall would do being rear ported? And WAF is never gonna allow for a Forte mounted sideways for a center - but I have to admit I do like the idea - I just can't make that work. I think my best bet is to sell/trade my C7 and get a Academy but now I'm confused on my 4 rear surrounds? [:S] Would KG 2.5s mounted horizontially work? I'm just not sure how the "Bass reflex via rear-mounted port" would respond to in-wall mounting?
  8. Thanks for the excellent information! I didn't know about the KG 1, I saw the KG 1.5 but it's ported so the KG 1 will be perfect like you said. Good find on that Academy! Thanks again for all your help.
  9. I notice the KGs are rear ported like the Forte, would it be possible to mount these in wall as long as you made sure insullation wasn't right next to the rear bass reflex port? Possilby keep it about a foot away.
  10. Thanks that makes sense, I'll start looking for an Academy to trade my KLF-C7 for or sell it out right and also try to find four KG .5s In you opinion what would my C7 be worth? It's black satin and in perfect condition. Also what would be a good price for an Academy and the KG .5s?
  11. Thanks for the insight - given my current front speakers I have to work with is there a 'best' choice to go with of the available in-wall/ceiling spearkers? Thanks for the reply, I'll try moving it around to see where it sounds best - I could go diagonal to where it's shown now and avoid the corner if I need to.
  12. Go with the Panasonic TH-50PF10UK, this is the professional model so it doesn't have things you don't need like weak built in speakers you won't use anyway or a tuner. It also comes with dual HDMI connection, component, and PC input also an empty slot where an additional connection such as hdmi could be added if needed - very flexible. Get your HDMI or component cables and wall mount from Monoprice.com they are high quality and by far the best prices around.
  13. I'm considering going with two R-5800-W for my left and right surrounds and two more for my rear surrounds. Would this be a good choice to go with the C7 center and Forte II main fronts I already have? Also this in going in a new home and the living room dimensions are 19' 7" x 19' 4" with a box ceiling where the center high part is 12' and it drops down to 9' on the surrounding sides. I was planning on putting the surrounds and rear surround in the vertical part that drops down from the 12' to 9' since there's a hallway on the left side and not a good place to put them down lower in the wall. The 5800 do allow for some directional adjustment so that will help. Just wondering if anyone has tried this placement and how well it worked? Here's a layout of my plan for the room and speaker placement: Thanks for any input.
  14. Thanks for the reply, I'll go with the C7 mounted below the monitor, that's what I was leaning towards anyway. No the C-7 isn't ported, just not sure how easy it would be to find a pair of those now? But you are correct I do want to have my rear surrounds in wall.
  15. What rear surrounds and sub would best match my existing Forte II fronts and KLF-C7 center? Also I'm planning on going with a 58" plasma and my wife doesn't want to see the C7 if possible above or below the plasma so I could have the the grill painted to match the wall and mount it flush with the wall or would it be possible to mount it behind the plasma? I'm planning on putting the plasma on a articulating arm mount so it's not going to be right up against the wall and I'm building a new home so I'll be able to build in a space behind the plasma to mount it without any issues. My only concern was would you lose your quality of sound since it would be behind something? I could angle it up or down so it's not firing directly into the plasma? This might be a really bad idea so I could just mount it above or below the plasma but just waned to get some thoughts on this first? Thanks
