  1. hi, i currently have a velodyne 12inch sub 200watts. and i'm planning on getting another sub a velodyne 15inch 250watts sub. will it work? or will the 12inch be pointless? one more question, why is it that everyone in this forum always recomend svs etc... why not klipsch sub? i've heard the sub12 it sounds good. i've always wanted the the rsw10-d, or the rt-12d. the spec look good. but i havent heard them yet. what does other subb got that klipsch dont? klipsch subb's look good too.
  2. hi mr.RF62. yea i think i'm going to get the 52's instead. thanks. by then i'm probably going to end up upgrading all of them to the RF-83's and RC-64 but i dondt have the money right now. i remember someone here in the forum said to get the speaker you can afford, and right now i can only afford the 52's. the rcx-4 is good but i dont want to upgrade too soon. so i'll get the rc-52 instead. thanks.
  3. hi, i just got the rcx-4, i am happy with the sound and it was on sale but for $129 more i could also get the rc-52, there is still time to return the rcx-4. i'm always wondering if the rc-52 is a much better speaker. Obviously it is because it is higher model and more $ but is there a huge diff? or should i just keep my rcx-4? i'm using onkyo 507. i know the rcx-4 is only 75watts compared to 125watts rc-52. I will be getting the rf-62 or 82 in the future. also if my front speaker is only a single 6.5inch should i put it as "large" or small speaker in the receiver? thanks.
  4. hi mr.RF62, thanks. that's give me an option, cuz I always see great deal on them on a local store here. what do you think about the 62, could i also just turn down the ouput on those to match it? I also just got the onkyo 507's the sound quality is so good compared to my $100 boxing day sale receiver (yamaha) i got RCX-4 for only $99 canadian. at london drugs. They are the first store here to have klipsch but now bestbuy futureshop has klipsch too. thanks!
  5. hi, i just got the rcx-4 center would it be over kill if i got the rf-10,52,62, or even 82 as the L/R speaker? will it be bad match? should i just stick to the sat's or bookshelf?
  6. hi, ok thanks. i'll get the onkyo thanks for the info.
  7. i'm having a hardtime deciding. should i get the pioneer VSX-819H-K or the onkyo TX-SR507 here are the specs. http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POCEN/Products/Home+Entertainment/A+V+Receivers/Pioneer+A+V+Receivers/ci.VSX-819H-K.Kuro http://www.onkyo.ca/model.cfm?m=TX-SR507&class=Receiver&p=i the pioneer is $100 less and is loaded. you can see in the specs. its loaded and for a good price. the onkyo is $100 more. which i dont mind paying. i was going to get the onkyo because of the name and sound quality. i've always had sony, pioneer, yamaha entry level receiver. so i want to try onkyo but this new pioneer one is making it a hard choice. use will be for movies and music about 50/50. anyways will this pioneer match the onkyo in sound quality? my player is ps3. i dont play games. the pioneer looks really good. but i also like the looks of onkyo. also the sales guy offered me an $800 sony receiver for same price as the onkyo. i forgot what model. but it was loaded too but i dont want sony. i like the name "onkyo" sounds high end and expensive. SPEAKKERS ok. i could get 50% off with the F-3 and RF-62, RF-63. the F3 is $499 pair, RF-62 $500 pair, RF-63 $1300 pair. if i had the money i'd go with RF-63 no question asked. i heard them all side by side. huge diff in sound quality compared to F-3. but i also dont mind the sound of f-3's. nway's which one should i get? i could get f-3 or rf-62 now and get rf-63 later as my last speaker purchase ever. my room is about 12x16. the back is open. nways' if i get the snergy i would have to also get the centre for it. arggg i'm confused now. F3 vs RF62? huge diff in sound quality? i dont listen to jazz or classical music more on hip hop, club, techno, old songs, love songs. and loud movies. thanks.
  8. ok, thanks guys, no i dont need a pair of rc-62
  9. hi all there is a 50% sale here in vancouver on all klipsch, anyways, im short of money and i can only get either one! rf82 is $700/pair and rc62 is $300 pair. i've already got home theater speakers but not klipsch. for home theater i think centre is important but if you guys were in my position which one would you get first? i really like the rf82, (its big) how good are the rc 62? and does it make a difference compare to what i have now? for centre? (a $150 centre speaker, i think name is accoustic labs)
  10. Hi all! There is a clearance sale here in vancouver 50% off, a pair of RF-82's for $700!!!! I want to know if it needs a lot of power? i 5.1 yamaha receiver, 7.1 sony, and an old 110watts stereo receiver. i've got a 12inch velodyne sub, i want to use this for music and home theater. but for music would i still need a sub for the rf82's? i listen to a lot of music with bass. and how good is the rf82? i'm so excited. thanks.
  11. i was just looking around at the klipsch subwoofer site and i'm a bit confused. I thought "rsm" is the real power rating and "dynamic" is peak. so a sub 12 sub has 650watts of dynamic power, does that mean its really using 650watts of power and not the 300watts? if that is true what about the digital12 sub with 2000watts dynamic power 800watts rms? man thats like almost 3times more power!!! Lastly, are other companies besides klipsch using this same power rating? like on other sites i see subs that has 1000watts "peak" they must mean thats is 1000watts "dynamic" power right? because before when i see "peak" power rating i dont consider it as its true power. i know subwoofers are different from speakers. Subwoofers only come "on" when there is a "low" sound unlike speakers that is always "on" so i think "dynamic" might be true. I just like lots of power for my sub. What about pro amps like "crown" when they say 2000watts "RMS" thats must be like 5000watts "dynamic" if used in a subwoofer right?
  12. Yeah baught a 50foot 16guage instead hehehe. \HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! EVERYONE~!!! System is rocking the party!
  13. FINALLY DTS!!!! Man i can hear everything so clear surround sound is so dam good! thanks everyone for all the help! i appreciate it greatly! todd was right i just had to "on" bitstream on my dvd player. i switched to my samsung dvd player and it had that option in the setup. and "puff" DTS on the receiver came on! i was so happy!!!! now i just got to connect my surrounds. but my wire is short i'll just attach another wire to it. using 16gauge. will attaching the speaker wire make a big difference in sound? i dont want to buy another speaker wire. and is 16gauge enough for the surrounds? for the fronts and centre i'm using 12 gauge monster speaker wire. thanks again!!!!wohoo!!it sounds much nicer than the movie theater! i cant imagine upgrading.
  14. "Set the digital output to Bitstream instead of PCM" i think this might work but i have been expermenting with my dvd player and it doesnt have any settings that lets me output my digital to bitstream instead of PCM it has EQ, 5.1, stereo, LR, etc..
  15. Yes bill that is it! Perfect match. Toddvj I finally figured out how to set my receiver to DTS .. but no sound comes out but when i set it to "auto" there's sound "PCM" i always see it. i'm thinking todd is right i think this yamaha receiver should automatically detect dts but its not therefore the answer lies with my dvd player but i already went to my setup and i put it to 5.1 no sound stereo works. hmmm.. i'lll try it again. its alreay 5:30am here.. no sleep yet. last day of 2007!! i want to fix my home theater before 2008! hehheeeh. i'll try my samsung dvd player but that one has no setup.
  16. hi jbsl thanks for the reply. As of now I still see L,R on my receiver panel. I cannot get DTS.. I'm reading the manual now over and over again. Here is what i have been trying. Right now I am using a Daiwa dvd player it is set to stereo because if i set it to 5.1 I dont get vocals or voices on the movies. (took me a while to figure that out) I am now using digital opitcal output to connect my dvd player to my receiver, i dont know if its better that coax. My test dvd is iRobot because it has DTS 5.1, I still cannot get the full L,R,C,LFE,SR,SL or the DTS sign to display on my receiver. just prologic 2 and L,R. I have tried my HDMI samsung dvd player but that one doesnt have any settings that i could chose 5.1 or stereo. My tv isn't HDMI so i'm using the Daiwa one. Also I have been trying to set 5.1 on the receiver i hear the test sound all speakers work. but when i click "set" it goes back to L,R sooo frustrating. I'm thinking that somehow it is still playing L,R. By the way i am not using tv speakers, i have an F-3 system with a velodyne DSP 12 sub, its more than enough for my size of room 15x20. So anyways i think you might have solve my problem i will try to turn on the digital optical "on" on my receiver ill read the manual on how to do that. i really hope it works and not a defective yamaha receiver i really dont want to return it its a hassle and i lost my receipt hehe. thanks again for the help. i have also been searching online for an answer.
  17. The dvd player is set to 5.1 the dvd movie (flag of our fathers) is set to 5.1 and the yamaha is set to "straight" but i only see L,R but i can hear surround sound. is this normal? what is pcm? this receiver sounds really good. but i just dont see L,R,C,SL,SR, and LFE light up, only L,R thanks again.
  18. Has anyone ever heard the DLS-5000R? i recently purchased the DSP12 because it was like 60% OFF.. $699 became $299.. i didnt know that the DLS-5000R was also on sale at futureshop for boxing day. reg price is $1014.99 it became $459! so its like a $150 difference between the DSP and DLS. DSP is 200watts rms 400dynamic.. DLS is a 15inch 600watts rms 1000watts dynamic. does anyone know if there is a big difference? my room is 15x20..the DSP sounds really powerfull. i can only imagine 600watts. but its not all about watts. i know this is a klipsch forum but the klipsch didn't go on sale yet hehee. i'm already happy with my DSP but i dont mind spending an extra $150 for the 15inch. hehe. my ksw10 moved to the bedroom now.
  19. ah i c. no i haven't heard that saying.. hahaha .. that sfunny now i feel bad. oh well aslong as shes happy with her "wave" ... yamaha HTR6025B ..
  20. If i still cant figure this out. i might just get a home theater in a box, the sony one sounded good with i demo it. yesterday i was at the bose store because my friend baught the wave system. almost $700!!! for that cassete look alike no matter what i said she didn't listen. way overpriced should have been only $200 or less. but the salesperson at bose took us to their ultimate home theater system and i was impressed by the sound quality for such tiny speakers!. sounds soo good! but overpriced! $5000! i wish my system sounded that good! hehe. is the secret in the their receiver?
  21. thanks guys for the replies! i have decided to use the digital coax and let my receiver do the decoding for now. but i cant figure out how on my receiver!? so much settings. but i always see L and R on the receiver not L R C LFE SL SR.. anyone have any suggestions? i'm thinking of returning this and getting a sony or pioneer.
  22. ah ok, thanks! i'll probably have to play around with it.
  23. hi all! i have ksw10 sub and velodyne dps12 sub. in the back of the subs there is 0 or 180 switch in the back. should i switch it to 0 or 180? and what is phase knob? thanks.
  24. hi all! i dont know if i should use my dvd player to do the 5.1 sounds or my receiver? my dvd player has 5.1output. Will it be better than using my receiver to do the 5.1 sound? also if i connect my dvd player's audio using the digital coaxal will my yamaha recevier give me 5.1 sound? if i use my the digital coaxal does that mean i dont have to use the component 5.1output? how about if i want to play music? i'm really confused as how to set up my home theater i really want to experience surround sound. I just got the new yamaha 5.1 receiver, velodyne dps12 sub and klipsch ksw10 sub. tv is a 60 inch sony. thanks all! i'm just getting started in home theater. i always watch movies so i thought i would build my system to enjoy my movies even more. i use tv speakers to watch my movies but its not the same as watching in the movie theater.
