[Possibly Have a Bad AA Crossover in One LaScala - Need Help]

Long while since I have posted in the Klipsch forums. I have watched your vids about the left speaker location and have a possible theory why it's happening. I hate typing much so if you are interested in discussing send me a PM here or over on AVS and we could discuss via the phone.  

[Dual subs but not stereo]

Quad here. Two velodynes and a Hsu Dual Drive ULS-15 system. The Hsus' for the really low end (15Hz -1db) and the two velodynes for the 30 to 120 hz frequencies. And then the added mid-bass slam from the Forte IIs.

[For movies, do you run your subwoofer cold, flat, or hot?]

I first gain matched one sub at a time to 80db then level match all four in the AVR to 80db. Which was only one notch on the plus side of zero on the subwoofer channel. I use the older analog meter and I just use 80db because it is easier to read the meter and focus on the zero which is straight up and down then trying to read +5 when the meter is set to 70db.

I run all 4 subs, the 2 velos and the 2 HSU ULS-15 slightly warm I guess . 80db for everything. I find it is easier to read the meter this way. So zero master volume on the Yamaha would be 80db.[]

I am not going to change your mind if you are really set on the Fathoms.

But if you are still researching, I would have to recommend the HSU ULS-15 subwoofers. I recently became an owner of the Dual Drive package ($2,400 in Walnut). These subwoofers are off only 1db @ 15Hz. Better specs than the Fathoms. They are extremely tight, fast and articulate. They are very good at playing individual bass notes. All of this from a 15" woofer in a roughly 19" cube which is about the size of the F113.

I have them paired up with two older Velodyne subwoofers and they intergrate very well with my legacy Forte II speakers. If you budget is at least $5000 for dual Fathoms you could actually get a ULS-15 Quad Drive package at $4000. My family room is over 8000 cubic feet and they have no trouble filling the room and the rest of the first floor with great sounding bass.

Just thought I would let you know, that if the Hsu is an option, you would not be disappointed.

[Build HT around Forte IIs or start over?]

I even have a better idea.

Keep your Forte II but make them sound brand new and go after one of the companies that make new crossovers. I went with Bob Crites from B&K sound on my Forte II and now music and movies have never sounded better. The new crossovers really make the mid range sound alot better than the original crossover. I also replace the Titanium diaphrams from Bob and after a couple of weeks of break in the highs are simply mar-vel-ous. So around $350 investment you will think you have new speakers. I didn't know you were a long time poster over here on this forum. That sub is going to be impressive with your RF-7s. As you saw on AVS I went with the Hsu ULS-15 Dual Drive system. They really make my Forte II sing, now that I own these subs and upgraded my crossovers and Titanium Diaphragms from Bob Crites B&K Sound.
