  1. So, If I'm replacing fronts, I should also replace the Center channel? This also means we cannot mix and match Icon/Snergy/Reference series. I currently have Snergy speakers but reference subwoofer(RW-12d). What about the rear channel? When I compared the specs between Snergy SLX and XL-23( which is the suggested Center for Icon), Snergy SLX seems to be better power handling rating as it rated 100w versus XL 23 which is 70watts only.
  2. Hello All, I currently have Klipsch Snergy SLX 7.1 home theater system with RW-12d subwoofer hooked up to Denon AVR 3808. It's great sounding system for movies but lately I'm being listening to lot's of 2-channel stuff and its' very good considering the speaker size but I feel something is lacking( probably the lows) and I wanted to upgrade my front's with better Klipsch speakers. I currently own Snergy SLX - http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/synergy-slx-overview/ http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/synergy-slx-reviews/ As per the review, it's great for movies and very good for music and I must totally agree to it as I own this system and been listening to it for the last couple of years or so. Most importantly, I don't simply want to upgrade to another pair of speakers and would like to see reasonable improvment Since I live in Condo and my living room( 20 ft length by 15 ft wide) is already packed, I would like to know what are the best choices for the front without compromising sound quality. Based on investigation, I have nailed down to these 3 choices: 1) XF-48 - Sleek Icon series currently selling for great price I do like the fact that they don't occupy that much space still providing floor standing sound especially for Condo. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/xf-48-overview/ http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/xf-48-reviews/ 2) RF-62 - Reference floor standing speaker 3) RF-82 - Reference floor standing speaker ( Not sure if it's overkill for Condo over RF-82 ) 4) Any other suggestions are welcome I can't find that much professional reviews for RF-82 & RF-62. I did found one for RF-63 and had great say about them. But lot's of customer/users of RF-82/RF-62 seems to be happier. For XF-48, there are both positive & negative professional reviews, positive from Sound and Vision but not so great from ultimate AV magazine, there is also a complaint about near wall placement issue compromising sound quality. Here are my doubts/questions: 1) How does the XF-48 compare with Snergy SLX? Snergy SLX have 4.5 woofers vs. 5.5 inch woofer in XF-48 and I'm not sure if there is a great improvment moving from SLX to XF-48. Snergy SLX is an LCR speaker versus XF-48 is been considered as floor stander. 2) XF-48 - Do they sound like real floor standers such as RF-82, RF-62? 3) How does one compare RF-82/62 with XF-48 with respect to Sound quality and Size? Any other feedback/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paddy
  3. Thanks a lot for help. I visited one local electronics store and just got HK AVR 445 for just $199 which is a demo model and I think it has more watts than HK AVR 247/347 but it doesn't do HDMI upconversion which I don't really need as I have HD upconversion DVD recorer cum player which even upconverts and displays my regular cables pretty good. My only outstanding question now is AVR 445 doesn't do HDMI Audio processing and I'm not sure if that's a big deal as this receiver is at steal price and I can always buy the latest receiver when the all the HDMI 7.1 PCM audio is up-to-date in the market.
  4. Tenor, Yes, I do agree there are lot's of factors to consider not just the output alone. I'm not planning to buy KSW 12 which I'm not even considering at all. I'm asking between RW-12 which is very similar to RW-12d except for the digital control and they sell it little cheaper than SUB-12. Actually I was considering the SUB-12 but after feedback from you folks, I'm really thinking about going to RW-10d or SUB-12. Thanks.
  5. Fish, I'll definitely try to listen to them all but having hard time as lot's of shops like BB they haven't hooked up HK at all but they do carry HK AVR 247 or 347. Yamaha is hooked up to Quintet SL but it's not inside the AV ROOM. So, lot's of noise outside. There is one shop they carry HK AVR 445 w/Klipsh speakers and it has more output than AVR 347 except for the HDMI Audio processing but I'm not sure abou the deal as I'm not sure if it's future proof considering the HDMI and HD arena is already in the picture. Thanks for your feedback.
  6. Hello All, I just bought new Snergy SLX LCR home theater setup and regarding the selection of the receiver I have some questions and need help. There is a great deal for HK AVR 445 which does only HDMI switching and no HDMI Audio processing but the price is steal as everyone is saying HK is great. They do carry HK AVR 247 which is lesser watts but provides HDMI Audio and Video processing. At the same time, I'm also considering Denon AVR 1908 or 2308 and Yamaha AVR 661/HTR 6060. Based on my reading people are recommending Denon or HK rather than Yamaha as the Yamaha seems to be bright. Here are my questions as I'm kind of inclined towards HK AVR 445 but since it doesn't do HDMI Audio processing my concerns are about the future where the 7.1 PCM output via HDMI providing high quality sound I really don't want to buy receiver just based on features alone but want solid receiver that goes well with Klipsch in particular and does HDMI Audio processing really matters. This is because I reviewed HK AVR 247 manual online and it did not say whether is supports 7.1 PCM, Dolby True HD, DTS True HD etc. but I did find it in Yamaha and Denon receivers. Denon also seems to be supporting HDMI v1.3 versus Yamaha supports HDMI v1.2a while HK is way behind in HDMI support. Based on many people's feedback it seems like Yamaha receivers are bright, Denon is Neutral and HK is warm. I really don't understand what does it mean by that may be because I haven't really listened to them with Klipsch speakers and not sure if I can as the local shops they don't carry all these receivers with Klipsch speakers in the demo room and that's why I would like to hear feedback from the real Klipsch community and their experiences rather than just going with reading the review. Thanks and your help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Paddy
  7. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I appreciate your feedback and now I understand the real difference.
  8. I'm just newbie here and thanks for your response. My room size is 15 x 17 and I live in Bay Area, CA. Here Best Buy is the only store which sells SUB-12 and they discontinued it and their online pricing is $429 and it's backordered, not sure how long it takes to deliver. I just looked at the specs for SUB-12 and RW-12( finally found in discontinued section) and it handled little bit lower freq better than SUB-12. I'm posting the specs. for your review also I have noticed that RW-12 is front firing vs SUB-12 is Front firing. $100 is not an issue as I thought reference series RW-12 subwoofer is better than SUB-12 and currently sold for lower price but need to hear from people who used both these sub woofers like you. Do you know where they sell SUB-12 for $400? 9. Hello, Should I go for SUB-12 or RW-12. RW-12 seems to be the discontinued model from Klipsch and the newer version is RW-12d. When I reviewed the specs the only major difference between RW-12 and RW-12d is the user presttable settings and modes. Is there any way we can change the crossover from the receiver to achieve the same performance in RW-12 as RW-12d? I need help to choose between SUB-12 or RW-12 as RW-12 is selling for just $299 versus SUB-12 is for $500 and I thought RW-12 is steal. Thanks.
  10. Smokem, Thanks for your feedback. I still have one question which is Quintet SL LCR looks almost same as Snergy SLX but I do see some price difference and that's the reason I asked if both performs equally well or if Snergy SLX is better. Secondly, can I just buy two snergy SLX for the front and use the Quintet SL LCR one for center and two for the rear with the remaining two satellites for 7.1 surround Thanks.
  11. Hello, I have just purchased Quintet SL 5.1 with SUB-12 but I did notice that Snergy SLX 5.1 with KSW-10 SUB in on sale. I noticed that there is substantial price difference between two but since Snergy SLX is one sale, I'm not sure if I should go with Quintet SL or Snergy SLX. Can anybody provide information on Snergy SLX 5.1 Home Theather LCR speakers?? I also recently purchased Harman Kardon AVR 445 on sale but ther e is the current model which is AVR 247. Based on the specs. AVR 445 has better wattage/power. Does any one can comment on this? Bill H you have helped me previously with Quintet SL. So, your feedback is appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
  12. Bill, Thanks for the feedback. My apt size is 16x15 and definitely I'll consider RB series but I have question, can I use quintet for 5( 4 rear and center channel) and just buy those RB or snergy for Front channel or since I just bought this brand new it's a good idea to return and upgrade to those series of home theather itself. Seems like HK is way to go...How do you compare HK 247 to 347? The only reason is because I don't see much of difference in terms of specs. but the prices are way different.
  13. Hello, I just recently bought Klipsch Quintet SL speaker system and since this is my ever high-end system setup with Klipsch, I need help in choosing the receiver. I'm specifically thinking between Harman kardon, yamaha or Denon. I need people feedback on receiver selection in particular to match with Klipsch speakers. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Paddy
