I have the same disease you do. I spent a month comparing receivers and I ended up with an Onkyo tx-sr805. Plenty of power and Dolby HD, DTS HD, THX UltraII certified. You can also biamp the fronts but I am not sure you will gain anything. You might be able to find an 805 in your price range but if not checkout the 705 or 605.

That should work but if you are buy a new receiver why not future proof yourself with one that processes Dolby HD and DTS HD?

The whole Transformers dvd sounds amazing. The D-Day landing in Saving Private Ryan is good to it is like the first 20min. It is a little gory but sounds good. The last half of Mr. and Mrs. Smith has a good sound track also.

I currently am using a Yamaha HTR- 5835. It has a rms of 120w. It doesn't have any hdmi or Dolby HD, DTS HD. What is the ideal rms for these speakers? Is thx worth the $? I want to spend less than $1000 and ideally $800 or less.
