  1. Sony XBR what ever it may be (crt, lcd, lcd proj) is always a great product. One thing about there LCD line is that they share a manufactering plant in Korea with Samsung and possibly Sharp now. There XBR's are always the most visualy appealing to the eye based on cabinet design. One thing to keep in mind is that when you view a TV in a store they are pre-set out of the box to be super bright and almost always have visually appealing sources playing on them. It's when you tune them to the real world that you get the real verdict. For instance I bought a Sharp 46 2 months ago out of the box it was absolutely terrible for everyday viewing. Brightness cranked way up and contrast and backlight were also cranked up. This is a 1080p panel and with some adjusting I got what I felt was a true picture. Now I compared to Sony XBR and Samusng and both were very competive. XBR was about $800 more though and I couldn't justify the difference in price. The cabinet was gorgeous though and that was worth a few hundred to me. With the new 120hz LCD displayes motion blur is almost non-existent so they are really putting the pressure on Plasma. Those 3 brands are all worth taking a look at as long as you can see them for what there worth in the real world. P.S. Sony Esp. XBR is notorious for clouding, Sharp has been known for banding issues and Samsung has the infamous blocking problem (pixelation).
  2. While Denon makes a fantastic product it is correct that the made in Japan versions are better sounding and they should be because they cost a lot more than the made in China versions. Someone mentioned HK and that's a great match for Klipsch. HK has always had less features than say Denon but in the budget lines they have always made up for it in sound quality. Now im not saying Denon is bad because I own it's just HK combines better with Klipsch atleast for my ears. Take that for what it's worth. HK direct from ebay (refurbished units) offers a competitive price. Everything is on an individual basis your ears are probably different than mine so listening first is always a plus.
  3. Nice system and what a change for a polk convert. I think Klipsch are one of those speakers that can benefit most from the right receiver pairing. With that being said HK is a wonderful match. Warm sound mathched to a bright speaker is very nice IMHO. Onkyo's biggest draw right now is they have the video side of the home theatre market cornered. HDMI and all of it's step children versions are what Onkyo is using as it's marketing factor right now. Which is brilliant! If audio is what your after then both are great products but I feel HK is a great match for Klipsch speakers. Just a forum newbie giving his 2 cents is all............ Plus I spent countless days playing with different speakers and receivers just to see what they have to offer. A small perk of working in the industry for a few years.
  4. I was thinking that too but I am one of those get a good deal and work with it types. I do appreciate it though because I know if I need to I got a good deal and can use it to get exactly what I need. I am already so excited about talking audio!!!!! [] All it took was a couple years away from the main stream and the itch was back in full force.
  5. Thanks for your response Bill. That's what I figured about the timber matching. Only if they had invented ceramettalic a few years before......... It was worth a shot considering the price on a top of the line Klipsch center. I may still pick it up even if to have to build around. May give me a new project []
  6. Let me introduce myself first as I am new to the community here. I am 29 years old and a big fan of audio especially the Klipsch line. I worked for 3 years in a higher end (higher end meaning we carried reference, polk lsi, infinity kappa and the good velodyne subs) home theatre store and really loved every minute of it. I have since moved on but still have a passion for audio. My current set up which was bought direct from Klipsch during a sales spiff program is RF-15's and RB-25's. These speakers have been sitting untouched for 4 years now (still in the box) and I have finally decided to put them to use. Obviously I am missing the two main components of any home theatre system the center and sub. The sub I have figured out and I am going to get an HSU. Nothing against the Klipsch line but there subs have always left something to be desired in my opinion. The center is what has me in a quandary. I know what the perfect timber match would be the RC-25 but as you can tell I already mixed that with my other 2 any ways. To the point..... I am unfamiliar with the Legend Series specifically the KLF-C7. I have the opportunity to purchase this speaker in mint condition for $180 (good deal???). Would this match the Reference line I have now or would the Ceramettalic and Poly Carbon Graphite cones that the KLF-C7 has be a bit of a mismatch?? I do know I am matching a monster center with some of the smaller Reference speakers and that concerns me too. Well any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe
