  1. OK - so last night I move my turntable from my circa 1993 Sony all-in-one home theatre processor (that rocked many halloween parties in the 90's) to my 1996 Krell KAV 300i and notice there is no phono input. So, as many have done before me, I just hook it up to one of the aux jacks, ground it to my power conditioner, and pop on Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" (my 17 year-old daughter's favorite - go figure...) and I have to crank it up half-way just to hear anything. Ok, so I'm the last guy on this forum to find out that phono jacks provide extra amplification, and am proving to be somewhat of a greenhorn, but now what do I do? Every Phono pre-amp that I can find either looks like a 9th grade soldering shop kit, or runs $3K and up. What do I do???? Please help Klipsch Forum Gods....you're my only hope..... Dirck
  2. Thanks vman...I'll try to track these guys down. Dirck
  3. Thanks vman71! How can I tell if the xovers need replacing? Can you recommend a good source? They sound pretty good - possibly a little garbled as I push the system into the stratosphere, but that could just be my eardrums melting.... This forum rocks - again, thanks for your input everyone!
  4. Thanks Groomlakearea51 !!! That snds like the right thing to do... Dirck
  5. paully Interesting idea.... thanks! Dirck
  6. Thanks for the heads-up oldbuckster... My GREAT preference would be to fix the one I have, but if I'm not happy with the options, I'll let you know. Again - thanks!
  7. Daddy Dee, Thanks for the info. Exactly how would I cement a patch on the inside? Re: the CD player budget, anything up to $300 would be acceptable.... Thanks again!
  8. Hi Everyone - I'm new to the Klipsch family through my recent aquisition of a pair of Forte II's. First of all - they sound awesome.... But, I have two questions: - The passive radiator on one of the speakers has a slight tear on it - less than an inch long. Will this affect the sound? If so, can this be mended or does it need to be replaced? - I currently have them plugged into a Krell KAV 300i. In addition, I have a Rotel RB-980BX that I could hook them up to as well - any thoughts on what would do the Forte's the best justice? Oh, and one more question, I have a $99 Coscto special CD/DVD combo player, and OBVIOUSLY I need to get a quality dedicated CD player. Any suggestions for the best deal out there, either via eBay, CL or new? Thank you in advance for any insight!!! Cheers, Dirck
