  1. I just got in 2 RVX-54's and 5 RVX-42's. All the boxes were beat the hell up and one of the 54's box had a huge hole in that box in the middle and other various damages to the box. I have hooked up all speakers and they all test tone when running a receiver speaker check and sound like they all work on movies. Is there any way to tell though if a tweeter/woofer or something else inside speaker was damaged in transit?? I wanna know if I should send back for replacements or not.

  3. I think I might have hooked them up wrong. So the wiring is set up different the the other speakers were I would connect the wires to the black and red next to each. You are saying that I should be connecting to ones that are black on top and then the red directly below it?
  4. I just got my RVX-54's today and don't know if it really matters or which binding posts to connect the speaker wire to. Do I use the top ones that says HF or the bottom ones that say LF??? I am using speaker wire directly from my receiver to connect to the speakers, no bi-amping.
  5. Going with the xf-48's for front L/R and the xl-23 for center. There are not any surrounds made for the Icon series, atleast not yet (are there some coming?). The xb-10's are what are on the recommended systems page for the Icon series. Would those be a better match than say RS-42's or Synergey S-3's? I'll be using for all 4 surrounds (Left, right, back left, back right). Didn't know how the icon bookshelves would make for surrounds? OR would xl-23 for surrounds sound even better??? I'm lookin' to buy Friday so any help is greatly appreciated.
  6. The system I'm about to pull the trigger on is: ICON xf-48 front left/front right ICON xl-23 center channel RS-42 pair for side surrounds/pair for back surrounds Would the RS-42's be good to use for the surrounds with these fronts? There is no ICON surround speaker, only a bookshelf that can be used as the surround. I figured the bipole wide dispersion surrouns would be better.
  7. Do the xf-48's blow the rvx-54's away? Looking to buy asap but nobody has the RVX line to demo. Store I went to today said the RVX's weren't that great. I do love the xf-48's so far. What seems wierd though is the amp in icon's can go to 110w, my reciever can do 130w per channel, wouldn't that be better??
  8. I'm looking for some sleek, powerful floorstanders for my fronts. Reason I'm looking for something without much depth to is because the way my theater room is setup the left front will be in the way of the entry to the room so I don't wanna have to barely dodge something everytime somebody enters like I do now. However, i'd like to get something that is gonna be a huge upgrade over my theater in a box I have now. I haved demoed the xf-48's a few times at Ultimate Electronics and really like their punch. I am still now sure on the self powered thing though. I wanted to hear the RVX-54's but they don't have those anymore or anywhere around here to demo. I'd love for an employee or someone else to chime in and let me know how the RVX-54's, especially compared to the new Icon XF-48's? I don't wanna buy the RVX-54's and think to myself everytime I watched something that I was missing out somehow by not going with teh XF-48's. I have only found one place online that actually has the 54's. Thanks in advance.
  9. ok, but how do these speakers work having speaker wire going from them to receiver? I want to use the THX Ultra 2 mode on my 805 to matrix 5.1 mixes to 7.1, how would the way these speakers are hooked up affect that if at all? I guess I'm mainly just confused on if the receiver can detect the speakers and all that since they are self powered? I have really like the xf-48's as I auditioned them multiple times so far, I was gonna use a xf-23 for the center, how are those for L/C/R duties? Much of a downgrade from xf-48's???
  10. I thought I was all set on what speakers I was going to go buy in the next few days and then I got to thinking and researching and am now confused. If I buy the Klipsch Icon xf-48's for front left and right duties how do I go about hooking up to my Onkyo 805 receiver? I have never had a self-powered speaker before and I noticed they have actual A/C plugs as well. If I just run speaker wire from my receiver to these speakers with that be good to go and I won't need to plug in the powercords? Reason I ask is I don't have the plug ins in the front of the room for the powercords and I want to run the speaker through the receiver. Thanks.
