  1. I am working on a project where I am building powered speakers for my home theater using amplifiers from the 4.1 systems and do to the nature of the configuration I want to downgrade the controls to the 2.1 pod. Right now I need 3 pods from the 2.1 systems and it doesnt matter what kind of shape they are in as the circuit board is my primary concern. If anyone is interested in selling one please send me a PM so we can work out the details. I also have to v2.400 control pods that I would be willing to trade if you are interested in them. Thanks David
  2. There are a couple of gentlemen on the net that have gone through the painstaking process of drawing out the schematics for the ProMedia systems. To date they have completed the 2.1, 4.1, and will soon have the v2-400 complete. Now they want to go a step further and make the schematics for the 5.1. The catch is due to the fact that the designators are silk screened on the board under the components the entire unit will have to be disassembled so a working donor unit isnt the best option. If someone has a dead 5.1 amplifier they would like to donate or sell at a resonable price please contact me via PM. I will provide you the names of the individuals doing the work and the website were the information is so you can verify this isnt a scam. The schematics they provided me with helped me fix my system so if I can find them a 5.1 it is the least I can do and maybe those schematics will help others since Klipsch refuses to offer or sell the schematics to repair these units. Thanks, David
  3. There are actually several issues with what you are wanting to do. First and foremost the v2.400 sub is going to be horrible as an HT sub. The design has a 40hz subsonic filter and a 60hz low pass filter. That is why the sub always sounds kind of boomy because it uses a ported enclosure with a very narrow passband. This is also why it is capable of the output it can produce. On top of this you will also have to use the control pod. The control pod contains the circuitry to sum the signals for the sub and is also were the circuitry for the sub-filter and the low pass. What I would recommend is buying a subwoofer plate amp and just mounting it to your sub if you really want to use it. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-802 http://www.apexjr.com/MnK100MP.htm Either of these would work great and they are only $100. I would look on eBay and look for a center from one of the 5.1 systems that way the drivers match. They can usually be found for $25-50. Or you could look at the real Klipsch centers like the SC-1, KV-1, & KV-2. Hope this helps, also sent you a PM
  4. I am looking for dead V2-400 amplifiers to do research on a schematic for the system and test different things to repair them. I am looking for the amps with or without control pods only. I have no use for the sub enclosure and I am not willing to pay for shipping for something that I do not need. If you have a dead one and would prefer it collect cash and not dust shoot me an email with a resonable offer. David
  5. If you have the V.2-400 contact me via email and I will give you a link to a website that has some basic diagrams including items you can check and upgrade that have failed on others in the past. I would post the link here but I don't want the Klipsch Nazis to remove it:) There are also links on the site to the pin locations for the v2-400 and the 4.1 din plugs. The problem you are having sounds like it is din plug related. I bet the pin for the +/- 15v is broken and causing an interment supply.
  6. there are several pictures of the components of my v2 400 system in my photobucket album you can look at. I am not sure if the pods are the same though. http://s308.photobucket.com/albums/kk328/dawaro2/Klipsch%20v2%20400/
  7. Do you have any interest in selling the amp from this system?
  8. does the system have an 6.5" or an 8" woofer in it? If it uses the 8" go to www.apexjr.com and look at the 8" klipsch subs he has there. You can replace it with just about any sub with the same impedance you will probably just have to alter the port to get the proper tuning. Do you have a way to check the impedance on the speaker? Does it use one driver or two? And can you give me the dimensions of the box. Get those for me and I can find something that will work in it. The other option is to buy one off ebay. They sale the base modules all the time with blown amps but good woofers. In fact here you go on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-PROMEDIA-THX-ONE-6-BASS-SPEAKER-SUB_W0QQitemZ350039469535QQihZ022QQcategoryZ32861QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. I currently have three of them that are brand new with all the cables that I bought to possibly use in another project. Contact me via email if you are still looking for one. droberts26(AT)comcast(DOT)net
  10. I have tried posting this in the ProMedia section but have failed to generate any responses. I am looking for someone that has some technical experience with the v.2-400 amplifiers. I would like to discuss possible modifications to them to use in other them applications. Because the design is proprietary Klipsch will not release the schematics so i am hoping I can find someone with enough experience with them that they can answer my questions. Thanks
  11. I am going to post this in both the 4.1 and 5.1 boards because I believe the amplifier cards in both are similar. I am looking for a schematic for either of these systems to look at the possibility of making modification to the crossover points for the channels. If anyone has one can you email it to me a droberts26(at)comcast.net? I am also looking for the wiring diagram for the din input but I think I may have already worked it out. Thanks, David
