  1. Well, it's not a good idea to buy some other speaker, my gf will not understand why I bought big speaker for.. nothing.

No, the sound is not very poor but can be better.

Does some you notice some change after 100 hours ? Does the speaker need some time before they can "sing" ?

Some say yes and some say no, to "break in" time. What amp are you using? Are you still using the 45-50 wpc AVR?

If so, that are still way underpowered. Try something with about 200 - 300 wpc, as you can never have to much "head room".

I'm not saying you need to play them louder, I'm suggesting a bigger amp to fill in the bottom end, without having to turn the volume up too much.

  2. Thanx for the feedback, I still have both amps hooked up,.

Stupid question, for the sake of evaluation, could I run speaker leads from both amps to each speaker.

ie two leads to each speaker terminal and switch from one amp to the other to be sure my ear is correct.

Funny thing is my 2 channel room is my home gym and the only place on the planet that I have privacy.

It is the only place I can listen to what I want, when I want, volume is not part of the issue, but I cherish the

space and the quality of what I listen to. I'm sure you all can relate.

The Cambridge tuner and amp are awesome, I have local radio and I have tons of cd's, so the added features of the Onkyo are not

biggies but would be nice to have if I can preserve the sound.

So, can I hook the two amps to the speakers for quick switching??

    The short answer.... NO!!!! no.gif

  3. ******************** PROBLEMS ********************

    Well, this is about my
general presentation, let’s speak now about the problem I’m facing :

    -
    - Lack of “live”
    feeling

    -
    - Lack of “bass”

    -
    - Lack of “surround”,
mean lack of feeling that each instrument is “split”, the sound image is like
    compressed

    Ok I’m disappointed, perhaps
I am to hard with my wishes (I play guitar as well and went to a ton of gigs)
but the point is that some “lowest gears was better in the shop”

    That’s it !

    What can I improve ?

    Thank for your further input
    !

Welcome to the Klipsch Forums Druss, we're glad you're here. [<:o)]

Speaker placement is critical. Try to get the speakers spread out as far as possible, as this will give you much better stereo separation/soundstage. Toe them in toward the listening position. This will take time and patience. Small increments and listen for a while, move a little more and listen for a while and so on and so on. I think I fooled around with placement for a couple of weeks (with my La Scalas) before I found the right placement.

I too think you could use more power. Even though "Klipsch" speakers don't require a lot of power, I think you are under powering those fine speakers and not getting the bass you desire. Try switching the speaker setting to small, instead of large and this will reduce the load on the amp. I know it will also reduce the bottom end/bass, but lets get the speakers sounding good first, then we can go back to the large setting and see how it sounds. You may need to add a subwoofer latter on, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Don't worry too much about the wires/cables now. As long as you have everything connected properly, we can work with what you've got. DO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BOTH SPEAKERS CONNECTED Plus (+) from the AVR to Plus (+) on the speaker and Minus (-) to Minus (-), as this will cancel out your bass if you have one backwards.

Keep us posted and congratulations on your new speakers! drinkingcheers.gif

  4. Hey QK, always good to see you. Well, you don't have many choices, so I suggest you pick up the Sansui and give it a test drive. I've always heard good things about Klipsch and Sansui. If you don't like it after a month or so of listening, you can sell it and try something else.

You've tried Marantez, so give the Sansui a a fair chance, you just might love it.

  5. Hey Flicker, You should ask this question in the "Home Theater" section. yes.gif

A Receiver is a "Processer" (also known as a Pre-amp) and "Amplifer" in the same box, so you don't NEED an additional amp. As a matter of fact, the Pioneer Elite you mention has 9 channels (9 amps) and should be plenty of amp for just about any situation, at 140 watts of class D power per channel.

But at this price, there are many options. I like Pioneer Elite, but you should also look at Marantz, Denon, Harman Kardon, etc...!

  6. The most critical aspect of an interconnect is the length. If the interconnect is not long enough to reach from the componet to the Pre Amplifier, you will definitely hear a difference.

That is funny! Nice one CT!!

  7. Clueless? You sound like the smartest guy on the block!

If it works, don't fix it! Really, what else could you want? I spent a few years chasing a better speaker. Then one day a pair of La Scalas come up for sale from the original owner on Craigslist. $1100 and $300 for new crossovers and I'm done looking.

Are there better sounding speakers? There might be? Do I care? HELL NO!!! My system sounds better than I could of ever imagined and I'm done chasing speakers. It's a great feeling.

As Cal said, go buy some new (to you) music and enjoy your Audio Nirvana!

    Congratulations by the way! [<:o)]

  8. Thanks, that seems to work.

Looking at the files they are about 10 times the size as the AAC format (42kb vs 4kb), which means if I convert my whole library it will be 170gb vs 17gb. I have a 32gb iPhone so thats not going to work. What is everybody else doing in that regard?

    Mike

Choose your songs/playlists carefully and load the ones you want "this week" or "month". All of my music is ripped "lossless" and it sounds great where ever I plug it in.
