  1. If you would place your speakers on your side walls, from your other pics it looks like your front speakers are very close to each other and the center speaker. What you'll end up with is a very cramped soundstage in the front of the room and a very wide soundstage for the surrounds. Is there any way you can move your front speakers farther apart from each other? With the component rack and the aquarium I can't set the fronts any further apart. I think I will just pass on rears for now, I am pretty pleased with the sound I am getting right now. I will hem and haw about the rears and see what the wife will let me do.
  2. Thanks for the input everyone, looks like I have some decisions to make, and I gotta see what the wife will let me do. My wife loves my aquarium hobby, but just doesn't understand the home audio hobby at all... it's an uphill battle.
  3. I though that rear speakers were supposed to go behind you? If they went where the lamp is they would be right next to your head, not behind you at all.
  4. The first pic shows my component rack in the far back corner next to the RF-3 The second pic really shows why I can't just run the wire along a corner all the way to the wall and down to the speaker
  5. One problem I am having is that I love the fact that when using any upconversion through the receiver it will show on the TV my volume level. But if I just use HDMI or component where there is no upconversion taking place it will not show the volume level on the TV. I just like being able to see on the TV what my volume level is, because I can't see my receiver display from my couch.
  6. That's not really the problem side, it's the other side that would have the left rear speaker. I'm beginning to think this is more trouble than it's worth, I would love surround sound, but I can live without it I guess.
  7. I don't have an attic above my living room, The bedrooms of the house are on the second floor. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  8. The wall stops for a pathway into the kitchen and then begins again, so I can't run it along the baseboard. I am in bed now, so any extra pics will have to wait for tomorrow to better show the situation. Thanks for your help so far guys.
  9. I see what you mean about the S-video to HDMI. Any other fun things anyone has figured out on their Denon receiver that they wish they knew how to use from the start?
  10. but how would I get the rear left speaker wire to the speaker? The kitchen has hard wood floors, across the ceiling? I don't mean to be difficult, but I just don't know how to get the wire there across a hard wood floor since the kitchen does not share the same wall on the left side.
  11. having solid walls is not the problem, it's just getting the wires there without having wires draped in unattractive manners that is the problem.
  12. The speakers right next to the couch are a no go, the the right rear would get knocked over because it is a high traffic area. This is a pretty difficult situation to get rears in. I may just have to go without surround sound, kind of a bummer. I am from Minnesota originally, Roseville specifically, where you at in MN wuzzer?
  13. I have a rather odd situation, My living room is connected to my kitchen, sitting on the couch (main seating area) the kitchen is behind you. So working out a good situation for rear speakers is difficult, and even more difficult is getting speaker wires anywhere near where I would like to put the rear speakers. As you can see in the pictures, a good place to put the right and left rears would be on the top of the cabinets, which I would love to do. Would I be better off doing some sort of wirless rear speaker system? If so, which brand and model? Any ideas are appreciated, I'm a little new to the high end home theater. Thanks guys!
  14. I have a Denon 2308 receiver, and I am no exception to the many people that have problems reading the Denon manual and understanding the details of the set up options. I am confused about understanding whether or not it is upconverting my video signal from S-video to HDMI, and to what level it is upconverting it to, the on screen menu seems to have the information, but it is not explained very well on the on screen menu or the manual. If there is anyone here on the Klipsch website that is familiar with this reciever or one like it I would love to get some pointers on this receiver now that I have quality Klipsch fronts and center.
  15. It works out ok for me since my couch is 18 feet away from the TV, so it is far enough away that you don't have to have your head tilted back to watch TV
  16. Here is a pic after I mounted the center channel under the mantel, and with the RF-3 towers looking hot.
  17. Other than a couple of broken speaker grill pegs (go figure) that were still embeded in the peg holes, the speakers are in perfect condition. Just got the chance to really let them sing last night when we rented an action movie, they were simply awesome! I glued the pegs back onto the speaker grill covers with plastic epoxy and they are good as new. I am VERY happy with the RF-3 towers!!!
  18. So I was cruising craigslist and saw a set of RF-3 tower speakers for sale, went and checked them out, asked what he wanted for them, the guy said "$100 for the pair" I almost fell over myself giving him the money. I am so excited, it made my year to get a deal like this!
  19. There really isn't too much detail to be gained in a photo, though I will post one once I am home and can take a good pic. Basically it's an installation of the RC-3 center channel on th underside of a shelf without using the wall.
  20. Very good point that I had NOT thought of, so I assume I would Just have to unscrew the horn and rotate it? Or is the tweeter aimable in the horn? Thanks for the detail keIA!!
  21. silversport- The perfect matching is what I am really excited about, The bass response issue is actually not a big worry of mine since the L/R speakers that the RC-3 speakers would be replacing have a low pass cut off of 92 Hertz, so I know it will be an upgrade from there. As far asThe RF-5 speakers you mentioned, they are just out of my price range right now.
  22. I have an RC-3 center that I have to move from sitting on top of the mantel to (hopefully) hanging from the underside of the mantel. I have to do this to make room for an LCD screen that I just bought. I am wondering if I will just have to fabricate some sort of C bracket to "float" the RC-3 under the mantel, or is there some sort of bracket that you guys could direct me to that would be good for this application? ANY and I mean ANY ideas on how best to do this would be great! And on a a side note, the wife hates that I am going to be drilling into the mantel at all, so any ideas that are the least destructive to the mantel are very appreciated!
  23. I am using a SUB-10 to fill all bass below ~90 hertz, so the lacking lower bass response of the RC-3s may not be an issue. I think that I'll go with the RC-3 as my mains, if it doesn't work out very well then I'll just sell them and upgrade. I'll let you guys know how it sounds, I am excited to see how the efficiency of the RC-3 as mains will improve over all midbass response.
  24. So I am pretty new to the whole Home Theater thing, so be kind please[] I am wondering if it can be optimal to use the same speaker as center channel and right/left speakers? I already have an RC3 center channel and can get two more that are in great shape for my right and left speakers, could this kick butt? Thanks for your opinions guys!
