  1. I've been in the audio business for years and have run into this issue before with Klipsch. The high effeciency of the speaker makes any residual noise in the amp louder. The amp just has a noise floor that does not match the speakers. I have seen some pretty expensive gear have unacceptable levels of hiss through Klipsch when it sounds fine through less efficient speakers. Best solution- a different amp.
  2. The Advent 300 was a very nice sounding unit but not always the most reliable in the amp section. I have had one completely rebuilt by Dave Plummer in NH and now it is fantastic. The rebuild cost as much as the unit. It has plenty of power for any Heritage type product and the preamp tuner section is very nice. The major advantage is the compact size for the level of performance. Don't forget it has a Holman designed phono stage. A fun piece of gear that won't break the bank.
