  1. I'm looking for some outdoor speakers to put on my back patio, and I'm torn between these two: AW525 or KHO-7

Any suggestions? Also I'm not for sure if a single pair is going to be loud enough, does anyone have any personal experience with these?

  2. I have the RW12D, which is a ported subwoofer, and I'm almost tempted to buy an Icon XW-500d sealed subwoofer to put in the back of my room as well. I think sealed subwoofers sound better, but it all depends on what you're listening to. I wonder if there's any problem mixing a ported/sealed sub.

  3. uuuummmm....CC is already gone. they went belly up. i have a co-worker that was looking for a tv. he shoped around and decided on CC. we all told him to go ahead and get the tv but NOT the service plan. he ignored up and got the service plan, week later, they announce that they are closeing their doors.....he's screwed out of $300 for the warranty.....we warned him.....

The service plans are honored by a 3rd party, see here: http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/CC/524619333x0x264593/65777E4E-3103-4D1A-B2FB-17D3D2702714/Media_and_Customer_FAQ_1.16.09_for_posting.pdf

    Your friend is fine....

  4. Sorry to bump an old thread, but I figured this thread has the most information so far, so no point in starting a new one.

I'm not too happy with my bass during movies. It sounds great with music, but it seems it doesn't rumble like I would think it should.

I've also heard this port noise, I can't seem to pin it down though, at first I thought it was something vibrating on my wall, then I thought it was the grill of the subwoofer, but now after reading this I'm almost sure that it is port noise. What can I do about it?? My crossover on my subwoofer is at 120hz, and I'm not for sure what it is on my receiver, but I will check to see it's set at 80hz. It's set on Flat, but I seem to like Punch and Depth settings as well. The gain is set to 0 on the subwoofer, and 0 on my receiver. When I optimized my receiver it turned it down to -6, but I enjoy bass so I turned it back up to 0.

I guess it's all a matter of playing with it and getting it to sound the way I want it to, but that port noise is really annoying at times, and it doesn't seem like I'm over-driving it at the time since there's not much bass coming out whenever I hear it.

Let me know, this is driving me crazy!!

  5. I have the Harmony 890RF, and I love it. Works great through walls, and no problems here. Can easily change the order of where the buttons are, and reprogram them. I even taught my girlfriend how to use it.

  6. thanks and i guess what i ment was like when you move them to position them does it feel sturdy , also should i go with the 30's to be a little safer or will the 20's sufice?

You position the speaker where you want it, then hold it there. With the help of a friend have them tighten that allen head down with a pair of vise grips, and then the speaker isn't going anywhere. If you need to change it, you must loosen the allen head and re-adjust. You could break the mount if you try to move it while tightened down. If I were to do it again, I'd buy these same mounts, so yes I think the 20 is fine.

So there are brass inserts in the cabinet where you can attach the Omnimount bracket? I think that's new.

    Yes, see here: http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rs-52.aspx

  7. Well here it is! I finally got it all finished up, and I must say I am very very happy with this setup, and I can't seem to get away from cranking the volume. Let me know what you think!

  8. I have the RX-V3900, and it's a very powerful receiver, no complaints yet, but I haven't used it much yet.

Here's a thread full of information about it: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1058341

    Pros:

    4 HDMI Inputs / 2 Outputs

    XM/Sirius Compatible

    Networkable

GUI Interface / Volume over HDMI

2 Remotes (Large and small one)

    Cons:

Seems to have problem with some Motorola digital tv boxes, the resolution resets itself everytime you power off the reciever.

That's about the only bad thing I seem to be reading about it.
