  1. I have the Panny TH-500PZ800U (also a TH-50PX600U). You should be fine calibrating these by disk. I tried calibrating the Vierra by disk, eye, even had a pro come over with a laptop and funky equipment. Nothing really changed it that much, whereas the Kuros absolutely came to life when it was calibrated correctly. You won't get near the best results calibrating the Kuros by disk (unless its specifically for the Kuros) or any set standards. I hate to make someone regret their purchase or pine for a screen they can't afford, but whatever paper specs or reviews say, the Kuros just looks better. There's like a whole other thing happening with it beyond paper specs and beyond any other display - the colors are more true and vibrant, but above all the details are sharper and clearer and its just smoother and more balanced. The key word is perfect. Everything is always so smooth and perfect down to the tiniest detail on the Kuros - imperfections can be seen on the Panny (or any other screen) in color, sharpness, and detail. By the way, I'm in sales at Pioneer. (Just kidding!!)
  2. Thanks a lot for your help Coyotee! I'd love to check out your setup, I'll let you know if I can get away! Space and aesthetics are a bonus, not a priority, but if the Palladiums are very close to the Jubs, I might have to spring the extra bucks for the WAF. Then I can have my cake and eat it too (literally). The P-39Fs are really beautiful, now I'm leaning that way. You recommend a Klipsch sub over something like the Epik Conquest or even a Gotham? Any recommend for the rear & center to go with P-39s? Thanks again for your help - you lunatics have an open invite to check out my system in Atlanta when its done!
  3. Thanks for the tip - I think I'll go for it! I meant the company is small, not the subbie. It's big, but not HUGE like the Danley.
  4. The Elite can really look like nothing to justify its price unless its set up to do what it can do. When I got that first Elite 1080p plasma, I was distressed at first, and thought it was defective, or that I had gotten suckered into paying for a brand name. Once I figured out how to open up the magic, it hasn't ceased to amaze me in 3 years. For something used so much, can't even put a price on the enjoyment my family and I have gotten out of it. One thing I noticed (and don't like) about the Panny is that it doesn't give you anywhere near the tweakability. All things being equal, the Panny will be close to what you see in the store when you take it home - not necessarily the case with the Elite.
  5. I'd be goin for the Conquest. Strongly considering ordering one if/when he gets back to me. I don't really want a huge subbie like the Genelec or Danley, so the Epik seems perfect. But if he's small and overloaded, should I be concerned about quality assurance?
  6. Hmmm.. thats a tough one. The Kuro is definitely better picture than the Elite Pro... but its subtle. It's not like the Panny which I could throw up from looking at now - the Elite Pro is still dazzling, and I'll still use and enjoy it for years to come. The Kuro has better black levels, and it makes everything seem a bit richer and clearer and truer. But if money's tight and that Elite Pro is functioning perfectly, you can't go wrong with it. Maybe try to talk them down to $2k - they are desperate to get rid of it!
  7. I would have ordered the Conquest already, but it says 4-5 weeks, no update on their blog in 6 months, and I can't get them on the phone. Anyone know what the deal is over at Epik?
  8. The Palladiums are certainly more wife friendly, but how do they measure up to the sound of the Jubs?
  9. David - The Kuro I have is the newest model. I've had the original 1080p Plasma, the Elite Pro-FHD1, since it came out almost three years ago. What's the model # of the Kuro you are considering?
  10. Whoah... Bill... I'm awestruck just looking at that, let alone listening! These good for rear speakers too? Which center and subbie would you recommend? Thanks for the info, and the welcome.
  11. By the way Youth, which speaker is that in your picture?
  12. I don't know , with my itchy trigger finger and all that . I have looked at the Kuros and the Pany Vieras . Maybe it's just the way they are setup at BB but I don't see enough differance to justify the Kuro's price . The Vieras claim to have 100k hours half life as well . Meaning that it will perform as specified for 11 years continuous . But at the rate tv's change these days I might just pull a breather and wait , or not ! That's strange - The Elite has me so spoiled I literally can't even look at the Panny in my bedroom. It's like night and day to me. As far as TVs changing - I've had the FHD1 for 3 years (man they go by fast), and I am sure I will enjoy it for many years to come without any degradation in picture quality. Thanks for the welcome Youth! I hear ya about the debt. I'm no expert on projectors, but from what I've seen, the KURO looks better. I'd hate to give up this picture quality even for a huge screen.
  13. Jubilees, eh? The only Jubilee I see listed on the Klipsch site is the KPT-Jubilee® 535 Stage System. Is this the one you are referring to?
