  1. By all accounts one of the best EL84 amps on the market. And my experience with it has me believing that to probably be accurate (although I clearly haven't heard every EL84 amp out there). Dead quiet on my 101dB OB speakers. Passive attenuators, which is taken out of the circuit when wide open, per the manufacturer (I emailed them to find out). So easily used as an amp only with a pre of your choice.

This one has Hashimoto output, choke and power transformers, Cardas RCAs and binding posts, Furutech AC inlet and Mundorf and Jensen caps. See attached build sheet for details. Uses 2 EL84s, a 5AR4 rectifier and 12AX7 driver. Has 4 and 8 ohm taps and one input. I have a Schiit Sys that I could possibly throw in if you need additional inputs. It worked great with this amp. Puts out about 6 watts, which easily drove my speakers to deafening levels (will easily drive Klipsch). Also has a headphone input. The hole next to the headphone jack was apparently an LED that was removed, per Finale.

Included are a NOS set of Arcturus EL84s and a Sovtek 5AR4, as well as 5 or 6 pairs of Russian EL84s, a pair of VM EL84s, a potato masher 5R4 and an Electron 5U4G rectifier. In a nutshell, enough tubes to set you up for life. No power cord is included.

    Great review here:

  2. I built this a few years ago, and spared no expense.  It's upgraded with Goldpoint dual mono attenuators and a Goldppoint selector switch, upgraded RCA jacks, silver wire with teflon sleeves and Superior Zcap capacitors, which were the recommended caps in Troels Gravesen's workup of the GG preamp (http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/GG.htm).  It also has a custom made faceplate from Front Panel Express, and a really nice blue LED pushbutton power switch.  The preamp works perfectly and sounds terrific.  It's currently set up for 18dB gain, but this is easily changed to 12dB or 24dB with the swap of 4 resistors (which I will include).  I paired this most recently with Quciksilver Horn Mono amps (very nice pairing), but have also used it with Welborne Star Chief 45 monoblocks, Alan Eaton 45 monoblocks, a First Watt J2 and I'm sure a couple other amps I can't recall.  It pairs easily with a wide variety of power amps.  Asking $750 shipped.  I have more photos if you'd like to see them, just ask and I'll email them to you.

Check out my listing for the Quicksilver Horn Mono amps.  I'm preparing for a retirement house downsizing, and going to a Rogers integrated tube amp to reduce the number of components I have.

    Thanks ... Tom

  3. I purchased these from Joesportster a few months back, after he bought them new from Quicksilver and only had them for a month or two himself.  Joe only put 20 hours on them, and I'm sure I don't have more than 30 or 40 hours on them.  They come with the original receipt and warranty card, so you can register them as new.  I have the original packaging as well, so safe shipping is not an issue.  I also bought a set of JJ KT88 tubes for them, so they will come with the stock Tesla EL34 tubeset as well as the KT88 tubeset (can't decide which I like better).  I can also include some generic power cords if needed.  These are $1500 + tax and shipping from Quicksilver.  Get them here for $1425 + split shipping, including the extra tubeset.  Add 3% to cover fees if using PP, otherwise I'll take Venmo or Zelle (or other traditional forms of payment).  I also have oak amp stands on brass feet that I made for these (they are red) that I'll sell for a deal if interested.  Just let me know and we can work something out.

I use these on my 101dB OB speakers, and they are dead quiet.  But I'm preparing for a move to a smaller place in anticiaption of retirement, and am going to a tube integrated (Rogers).  Just won't have the room for so many components.  Check out my posting for the nicest Transcendent Sound GG preamp you'll likely find as well.  It makes a great pairing with these monoblocks!

I have more pics if you are interested, just let me know and I'll email them to you.

Appreciate the Kind Words, I am watching out for Tims next project, have conversed with him a few time. Very NICE and forthright .

He has a killer pair of monoblocks ... I tried them out on my big speakers, but they had waaaaaay too much gain for my system.  That said, they were a quality build, and I would gladly welcome them into the listening room if I had the right speakers.  Tim'a a stand up guy and a quality builder for sure.

  5. Bump for Joe and the Wauwatosa Tube Factory LA LUCIÉRNAGA and the Stone Image Audio SUT.  I was the former owner of both, and friends with the builders.  Both are great pieces and punch well above their price point.  I'd be happy to answer any questions about either, having used them in my system for a significant amount of time.

its past 7 days go online and file a lost package claim. Every time I have a situation like yours I file the claim on line and suddenly the package gets moving. As mentioned above it is traditionally the sellers issue if the buyer does not get his item. A lost package is hard for the shipper to deny an insurance claim

    Good Luck with it

Thanks, Joe.  I did file a missing mail request today .  And the buyer and I have been in constant contact to ork through this.

  7. I sold a cartridge to another forum member here and shipped it via USPS Priority Mail on February 12th.  It shows that it moved through the USPS system once (in other words it left the origin post office and was scanned in at the next stop), but has since been at a standstill with no updates.  What's the typical protocol in these situations?  I'm not at fault for not shipping it, but feel bad that it hasn't made it to the buyer.  That said, it could still make it, but the lag time is getting ridiculous.  Any input would be appreciated ...

  8. UPDATE:  You may have seen this one for sale earlier this year.  The cartridge was sold and shipped, and then it went into USPS Priority Mail purgatory.  It amazingly ended up getting shippedt h 3 months later!  But he understandably made another cartridge purchase in the meantime, so this one is back with me, and back on the market.  It is in the same excellent condition it was in when I originally sold it for the first time.

Perfect shape with less than 50 hours use. Was deciding between this and the Zu Denon I just sold when I got a deal on a Soundsmith Zephyr that I always wanted. I'll cover PP fees and shipping in the CONUS. By the way, I've run an OC9/MLII and an AT33/PTG, and the OC9/III is probably my favorite of the 3. Definitely better than the OC9/MLII.  I have more pics I can email, just ask.
