  1. Its not an 11.3 as we write but will be soon. Honest to God ladies and gentleman. There is so much going on in my life right now that is seems to take me an hour to write one sentence...exaggeration of course, but I gusss many members are busy trying to make a buck last and just plain have fun. I feel like I reached a real milestone getting even styrofoam up there to party on. Its hard to tell from the pic but the rich saturation with the bluray is unbelievable.
  2. I'm going to start calling it a theater now.
  3. Back to my dilemma. I don't, and it seems a lot of members of the forum, don't have a lot of faith in power conditioners. However, I've had two trips to the Elecronics Doctor in two weeks so I'm willing to throw a few bucks into something that is not going to hurt any thing at least, My Tech, Mike, tells me he's got some outraegous system and he believes that grounding is numereo uno in protecting it. Mike didn't dissuade me from using the conditioner, in fact Mike said he uses a better one so I'm going to go with what I can afford here. You can bet your bottom dollar, I'll be taking a good hard look at how my home is grounded as well. If your're wondering, this is my secondary amplifier (Denon 4306) shown in the picture which ultimately will be used to power the surround back speakers to give me the tenth and eleventh speakers in my 11.3 system. I won't have my 4810 for almost a week and I don't like that...at all. Woe is me.
  4. Where my 4810 seems to like spending time lately. On twenty-ninth street in NYC. Nice people who do good work and great customer service, but its about 60miles away from my HT so it doesn't sound so hot from there.
  5. Yes, agreed. Very polished system with plenty of guts. I aspire to reach that level of first class looks. I'm back to 7.2 and this picture shows a small change in configuation as suggested by the manual; The front heights belong in the 45 degree position from the centerpoint listening position. As an 11.3, a couple of small Pioneer subs are located behind the seats and let me bounce around a little during some of my favorite movie passages and serious ballsy music. Its not as if the two RT12ds don't move things that aren't securely fixed, I just like the extra bass as a bassman would. I have to tell you that its hard for me to describe how happy this has all made me. Once the projector gets here every thing else to put a proper finish on things is pure icing on the cake. Now's a good time to pick up older Reference speakers when the new series are being introduced. No way I could have gotten recent purchases otherwise. I paid cheap. I'll follow up with another little bit of my humor in keeping with the mug shot and dead Denon.
  6. Guess which Denon/Owner is going to the repair shop tomorrow? Oh well, this too will pass. I'm very much looking forward to the Epson. Are you satisfied with it...is is up?
  7. Very cool...an experienced owner. What do I have to look forward to and watch out for?
  8. Duder, Better than I would think under the circumstances. I'd go nuts if I didnt' set it up...had noise before the movers even left. The new Epson projector and Da lite screen are on the way. Its going to be very exciting for me because I have the wide set up with my AVR and it should really look and feel big. What's happening with your system; Did I miss a picture of it?. Nic
  9. How do you like the 4810? Do you believe in the wide/high speaker efficacy? I just got a second RT12d for mine. Any comments about yours would be appreciated. Nic
  10. I'm saying that the sub hums with nothing hooked up to it. I also used the power cable from my older sub that has almost no hum. The problem is not about cables. Thanks again. Nic
  11. Correct. The issue is that the sub makes the hum even without any cables connected to it. I have also switched out the power cords and switched positons in the room with the older one and tried every variation on the sub controls but nothing has worked. Thanks for taking the time to consider the problem but as you see, it probably is some issue with the sub itself. Nic
  12. Found out a goodly part of the noise was coming from my HVAC. Yes, I know, brilliant observation. Also contacted the dealer and they will replace if necessary which is what one would assume except that it was a floor model and I thought that they might give me a hard time. Nonetheless, there is a hum compared to my original sub so the question still stands. Are there differences in the at rest noise two identical subs produce that would be considered normal?
  13. New second sub is noisy at rest compared to my old one. Checked cords and power sources. By noisy I mean I can hear a high (for a sub) pitch hum/whine at complete rest. I can hear it from about fifty feet. My original sub is pretty much dead quiet although it does have the same hum at an nearly inaudible level. Please advise. Have not talked to supplier yet, Are newer subs a little noisy? Thanks, Nic
  14. I have to first say thank you to the responses. I'm realizing as I noted earlier that the essentials of insulation are over my head. I'm going to need help from someone on site to interpret what you all have stated and seem to be in general agreement is the best way to go. I really don't want to deal with angry neighbors, or much worse, my wife when she's bent out of shape. Thank you again for giving me what looks like a great solution to my problem.
  15. My first concern is the cost. But then again you get what you pay for and sound insulation is very important to me since we will eventually have neighbors and I have two RT12d subs. Also you mentioned that this is mainly for temperature insulation and are not sure that this will work for sound. I'm wondering if this is exactly what I want. I sure thank you for taking the time to advise me and I will let my contractor look at this and tell me what he thinks. Thaks, Nic
  16. Thanks for all the good information. As you know my main purpose is to keep my sound in my listening area and not in the rest of the house or the neighbors. I'm sure my builder will have no problem understanding what we are trying to accomplish as he seems pretty sharp. I just want to be sure he knows how to do what I need done. Thanks again, Nic
  17. We recently bought a new townhouse that needs good sound insulation for both the rest of the house from the HT and for the neighbors from the HT. There is currently a firewall between the two units. Please let me know of materials that you have used that are both effective and cost effective. The room is currently bare cement walls and about 16X18. Thanks, Nic
  18. I've given serious consideration to buying one and my main concerns are can I get it around the corner into my basement and what kind of picture do you see from the side angles. Please comment. Thanks.
  19. nezff, Is that 82 Misubishi 3D and if so what made you choose it? Nic
  20. duder, Thanks for the great suggestion. Totally creative. It's about 18-4 X 16. A very rough estimate of the whole thing is a thousand square. Nic
  21. Boxx, Very beautiful. I had a much smaller Pioneer in 1975 and I loved it, so I can only guess at how much pleasure you're going to derive from yours. Good listening as you've got a rare treasure. Nic
