  1. Hi Dr, Just saw your post. What's the latest? Wondering if you ever got to see Pals or Horns. Nic
  2. Rudy, Thank you, lucky and industrious man! NIc
  3. Please, Make and model of rack? Nic
  4. b, regarding the choice between the RF82 and 62; They seem pretty similar. I noticed the larger (1-1/2" difference in the drivers and greater power handling abilty of the 82; these are far from deal breakers as it may even suit you better especially depending on which way you go in the future) nature of the 82 and you have a moderately large space to fill. I think the 62s will do the job. I have no listening experience with the 62 so I'm responding here for more help. Thanks for the message; I'm glad to see you're using the Forum. Best, Nic
  5. H, You should love it. Glad to hear of your satisfaction with the SVS; I bet its some potent unit and I'm glad to hear it meets your needs after trying so many; I've been though that myself. Mine won't be here until something like next Tuesday (1/16/12) which happens to be MLK...I have a dream where every person can get blown out of their shorts by a good sub! I think you are really going to enjoy the 95. I had a string of bad luck with BD players including the first 95 (it was probably due to my impatience but I didn't want' to take any chances since both my Pani BD35 and a Pioneer were rejecting discs even after firmware fixes). I was so happy to have a player that, at the very minimum, played discs; it also loads faster than anything I'd had previously. It has so many features that I will never use because all I want to do is listen and watch...in that order. I was also instructed by Corey at Audio Advisor (a very sharp guy) to hook up the stereo rca besides the HDMI so that I would get more DACs working...does that sound right? That's how I remember it anyway. Its just as well that I have to wait since I'm using the time to get a few things in order befroe it gets here and my brother is going to come over and help me with the set-up and with mounting my projector above in the ceiling as it presently sits on a table where it is partially blocked by my center; The Palladium sits up high on little adjustible legs and sits on a tall enterainment unit to begin with. I guess you know what its like to wait for a piece of your system that you've been wanting for years. That's how it is for me now. I was told that there was a price increase by Velodyne Jan 1 and they had to get special permission from the President himself to get me the old price; He was at CES and that put my delivery off by a week. I do believe I got a great deal. Thanks for you time and interest. N
  6. Hi Henry, Love it but I'm thinking about getting the Sony 7000ES Bluray 500 disc player and selling the Oppo. I imagine its not as good of a player but good enough and I can spend more time in my chair without the danger damage and grime to the discs. I'm not sure yet; One consideration is a better juke box in the works? The Sony is discontinued so I should look into if they are going to have something new and better. I also have a modded Sony DVD/SACD jukebox for those kinds of media but I would prefer if Icould put all my discs in one good player. The Oppo is a great player. It just doesn't fit my needs.
  7. psg, nice and simple...thanks, Nic
  8. Still waiting. Long story not worth your time. Probably wont have it till next (1/16/12) which will be almost two weeks after placing order. Grrrr!
  9. Mustang, I would be worried except I thinK the big monoblics will do the trick. Nic
  10. Bill, Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm really looking forward to delivery day. Thanks again, Nic
  11. Happy New Year and happy me. I got a great deal on it and I should have it in a week or so. Truth be told I've lusted after the Velodne DD-18 for nearly two years and when Audioholics picked the plus the Subwoofer Product of the Century...I mean the year, I could not resist. All things considered it was the only decision I could make. Thanks again for your help and guidance. This was a tough one and hopefully I won't be disappointed as I would make this decision a hundred times over. Since most of what I have is black or dark I took the piano gloss black. I love the way everything dissapears into the darkness. Nic
  12. Again, thank you all, I believe I wll order a sub this morning, Nic
  13. Will, Not having heard anything close I agree wholeheartedly. I also understand the head honcho at Audioholics reference sub is the DD15+. Nic
  14. J, That' great that you are all getting new subs. Willl sure be looking forward to your impressions. N
  15. All, As Stephen suggests, it would be great to hear these subs. I would be most appreciative if someone could give me a listen of the U13, DD15+, DD18+, or F113. Thanks, Nic
  16. All, It seems as if no one thinks the Velo15+ is the way to go. I think is is much better looking but that's not what this is about. I'd gladly go for the much better sounding/preforming of the two. It won't hurt to save $1200 either. N
  17. gnat, I really appreciate all the good info. I'm going a little crazy trying to decide among the top three or four. Right now I'm in SVS mode but that could change in ten minutes. They all have thier plus and minus. I love the looks and maybe the sound of the Velodyne 15+ because I'm imagining it to be musical and go pretty deep too. I'm afriad the SVS won't be musical enough. The JLs seem to have a great auto correction sytem and plenty of good sound. I can probably get a pair of the F112 for 3k. U So now the HSU is in the mix too. Thanks again for your help and any other comment you want to make would be most welcome. Nic
  18. All, I would jump on the SVS PB 13 except for 2 things. In AV Science forum someone wrote "...where it can be beat is how tight and musical it is...". The other problem for me is lack of auto correction (hope I'm wrong on this). N
  19. elite, As much as I even like saying the word Krell, I'm pretty sure I'll never own that one for 12k. It does give one pause for thought though...wouldn't it be nice? I'm still temped by the 15 plus; My affinity for Velodyne peaked during obsessive reading of a UK review that spoke mostly in superlatives. However, judging by the responses to my questions in this thread and Audioholics reviews, it seems like SVS is the way to go. I really only need one new sub as I'm very happy with my Paradigm Sub 12. It has just about the sound I want. The RT12d only sounds best to me when its blasting loud yet strangely it's articulate some of the time and others creates some very unpleasant hollow sounds. With the SVS I'm very much a believer in the potency and depth (which would be very welcome presences) of the Ultra but I'm concerned that it is going to lack the musicality I want. With the help of the very solid Sub 12 the 13 would pound my medium size (25X16X8) room effortlessly if I wanted. My listening/watching is about 50/50 but that music portion is extrememly important and I would be very disappointed to spend and have the result be bloated or bland. I have no real reason to rush this purchase as antsy as I get about it sometimes. Thanks all, Nic
  20. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into helping me. This should be the last of it. I keep reading review after revew that two (2) JL F112s are really nice because they are small enough to be plenty quick and the two of them are big enough to push some air. I think this might be the way to go. What do you think? They seem to be made with lots of care and are really solid. I heard an F110 a while back and it was pretty impressive. If the two 112s don't make a lot of sense I'm just going wait until something seems really right for me as my current set of subs are decent enough. In fact if a Paradigm Sub 12 or 15 came along I'd ****** it up as I love the sound from the sub 12 I own; Its got plenty of bottom and is very musical. I guess that's what I'm expecting form the F112s but I could be dead wrong. Any 112 owners out there? Thanks again, Nic
  21. All, Not sure if this is more interesting or more aggravating but who would say (2) JL F113 trumps them all. Two are great I'm sure but how does one JL stand up to one SVS? That's the real question now. Thanks again, Nic
  22. All, My overall impression of the two was based more on the final Score Card than anytihing else. The SVS has better numbers unless I am misinterpreting. I realize the entire review is to be considered yet for someone who has trouble absorbing and choosing the most important information the score card is appealing but somewhat useless unless its verifieed by you who understand entirely. Thanks again. N
  23. If I make my choice using the Audioholics review of each sub its almost impossible to choose anything but the SVS. It appears to be a monster at a very attractive price. As much as I love the Velodyne name and look of the 15+, it doesn't seem to cut the mustard by comparison. Help please those of you who know what you are doing as I'm still young (57) and impressionable. I've already received approval from the one who wears the pants (the Boss, the High Poobah and Muckity Muck) for the 15+ so $ are not as important as performance. Maybe when the house actually does fall down, she'll see the value of a great system. Insurance company here I come! OK, enough Tom Foolery. Please help and thank you in advance. Nic
  24. Blues Fans, Lots of good music for you. Nic
  25. Stephen, Thanks for the intelligent response. Nic
