  1. They are both on the way now. I ordered some cables from monoprice but I may have gotten the wrong ones are these ok to use if not can you point me at the right stuff. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023501&p_id=2774&seq=1&format=1#largeimage I know, I know, mmy wife is going to kill me!! Anyone have a spare room? I will bring the amps with me!!!!!!!!!
  2. Just wondering and trying to save on some space. Can I put my sub 12 on the bottom shelf of an audio rack? Or is that a bad idea? Would it affect the sound, if so how?
  3. Ok guys I have another question for you. I have read on here about the Emotiva xpa-5. Do you guys think I would benifit from getting one? I want to have a 7.1 set up so do I need one that supports 7 channels. Or is the 5 channel good enough? Which speakers do I but on it? Fronts, Center and my rear rf 63's and just let the onkyo power the rs 62's? How does an amp hook up to the receiver? I believe I have a jack on receiver to add an amp. Let me know what you think. Is the wattage enough to power everything I have? My receiver is rated at 100watts rms per channel I think!
  4. If you are only using 1 red and 1 black, does it matter which one you use the top or the bottom contacts?
  5. Well it seems obvious to me that his problem had nothing to do with the power of the receiver but it was an improper setting. Falcon20X You hit the nail on the head!! When I adjusted the x over from Full to 80hz it somehow turned off the dynamic eq that I was used too. So it sounded like it lost some depth in the speakers. When I finnally found that it was off and turned it back on it sounded good again!!!!!! I know my receiver is not the highest end receiver but its their upper middle grade. I just got it 2 months ago because my other one quit working and I was only powering my Bose system them. Well, things have changed fast since then, I got the sub 12 and then I found you guys and learned more and bought the reference line when I was only looking at lower end stuff. When I was looking at receivers I was looking at DENON 2308CI I think thats the model. The CC employee talked me out of it. Said they are not as useer friendly, hard to set up and have a poor on screen menu. Did I make a mistake? Should I have gotten that Denon or do I still need something better.
  6. Somehow my dynamic EQ setting was set to off. When I turned it back on I got the depth in the speakers I was looking for that I lost when I originally set the x over to 80hz on the front, center and rears. Sounds pretty good now.
  7. I was thinking of adding a second sub and someone further up commented my sub and receiver are the weaker links in my system. so it got me wondering what is better. What do you have your rf 83's crossed at and your rc64? Are they all set the same?
  8. Not sure what you mean by signal? The reference 83's ,rc 64 and rf 63's are all set at 80hz now. connected to hdmi blu ray and hdmi directv
  9. Is this a very good sub that will have punch that you can feel!! svs pb13-ultra subwoofer or what about the Velodyne what is a good model sub in this brand? Which is better for my set up and HT?
  10. I had the sub at max and the receiver at 80hz. I then turned down the sub to 80hz. I will turn it back up to the max. It seems like the mains lack a lttlebass punch.
  11. I have all the reference speakers set to 80hz right now along with my sub 12. seems like I am missing a little bass thump.
  12. I do not see where I have a setting for large or small speakers unles you are talking about the setting cross over from full to where I have them set now at 80 hz. Thanks youthman I can count on you to help me along this audio journey!!!!!!
  13. I even set the center at 80hz (THX). Can someone who knows how to set this correctly help me out. I need to make sure this is set up correctly I am not sure on how to set it, what it does when its set ect..... If I lower the hz does that make the speaker have more bass? With full giving it the most then 40, 50, 60 70, 80 ect... does higher equal more treble? What receivers would be better suited for this set up?
  14. I bought the receiver and sub 12 before I learned about the reference series. (EDIT) What would be a better receiver and sub to better match and handle this set up?
  15. The fronts and my rf 63's are set to 80hz (thx). What about the center? When its mounted above the tv what should it be set at? and rs62"?
  16. Imo, your Onkyo is not going to be able to drive that awesome HT efficiently especially if you are driving an all tower system as Large and Double Bass on! I would go in and change your Full Range speakers to set a crossover at 80 Hz (If you had a beefier power supply you could go lower} but the 50 Hz reading seems kinda odd unless you have a RC-64 for the center and are close to the floor. Well, that may be part of the problem. The rc 64 is temp. on the floor angled up, until I get my wall shelf made to support that beast. What will setting the 83's and 63's at 80hz do for me?
  17. I have a sub 12 and I have ran the Audyssey set up
  18. It sounds like something went wrong in the Setup phase if Audyssey set your RC-64 lower than your RF-83s. Fwiw, I would think your Onkyo would find the RF-83s as "Full Range," and you would need to go back and set the Crossover. That being said, you are driving the Top of the line Reference package with a {EDIT} mid-level AVR and it may not have the current to drive your speakers as efficiently as their "8 Ohm Compatible," suggests. Did you do the Audyssey Setup properly and what were the gain levels it set? Do you have "Double Bass," on or off? Where do you have the crossovers set? The fronts are at full and the center is set at 50hz, surrounds which are my rf 63's for now are at full band LFE 80hz and double bass is on. Not sure how I check the cross over settings or even how to set them up. Hopefully someone here can give me a hand.
  19. According to Amy Unger and several Klipsch dealers the rf 83,63 and rc 64 will not be made in Cherry anymore.
  20. Not sure about them ever making the rc52 in cherry but I know for a fact about the discontinuing the cherry finish.
  21. If Iput my ear to my speakers I can hear a hiss when there is no movie audio is that normal or are my speaker volumes set to high?
  22. How much does that meter cost and what does that dvd do and cost?
  23. The good thing for me is I am not fighting with UPS because the company I bought from will replace it and they will fight it out with UPS. I just have todeal with thetrouble of sending it back and being home for a signature delivery. Let you guys know more on Monday when thee tell me exactly how they are going to send a new one.
  24. Yea, thats what I was doing. But I heard the should be equal so you do not know what speaker it comes from. So do I make them equal of can I set the center up higher. I set it hight but I do not know if that is ok.
