  1. Two years ago I bought my first plasma, a 50 inch panasonic model th-50pz700u for my living room. I was so happy with it that a year later I bought a newer model 47 inch panasonic plasma for our bedroom. The living room set gets used anywhere from 3 to 8 hours daily. The bedroom plasma maybe 10 hours a week. Both continue to have bright, clear pictures.....especially for sports! I use a blu-ray player with the living room set and it is awesome! About the only thing I do not like about the plasma sets is the power they consume.......my 50 inch eats up over 600 watts when on. It does get warm.....but the picture remains clean and sharp. Also, the panasonics have a optical digital audio output that make connecting to my yamaha AV rcvr easy and cuts down on cable clutter.
  2. For my birthday(Dec 31), I went thrift store shopping with my sisters. At the 7th store we went in, I check out the electronic section and I noticed the chrome chassis from across the room. There sat a mc2125 and a mx-113. I quickly picked up the pre/tuner and put it on the 2125 amp, then picked up both pieces to take to the register. I only made it a couple steps (so heavy) then a guy there had a cart for me and took me up to the counter to write up my ticket..$24.94 for both pieces....they were marked with a grease pencil on the cabinet. Right next to this pair was a late 80's marantz cassette deck and matching rcvr. They were marked $29.95.....they looked newer then the macs...I passed on those.... Got them home...the volume knob on the 2125 just spins around, but turns on when plugged in with green lites. The meter lights also lite up OK. The mx-113 powers on OK, dial lite OK and tunes in stations OK. I did notice that it is missing the label plate for the push button functions on the front. Can I order a volume knob for the 2125 and a label for the mx-113?? I have kidded my wife for years that I'm gonna bring home a huge McIntosh power amp I find at a thrift store......and it really happened... on my birthday!! When I know it is working correctly, I have a pair of Mirage M3 speakers to try with it. It's gonna take me a few days before I can check out both pieces.... I am still pinching myself. Once in awhile there are still gems out there. I have since had both pieces serviced and am now looking for some great speakers to "Complete Me".
  3. Hi all. My first post here... I have a McIntosh mc2125 amp and a mx-113 tuner-preamp. I am trying to find a good match of speakers for this combo. I had the 2 Mc pieces serviced here in AZ to bring them back up to spec. I have a set of KEF's 104.2, Mirage M3, and a pair of DCM TF-600's. The room is a bedroom, size is approx 20 x 10, carpet floor. Speakers can be 12 to 18 inches from back wall and 8 ft apart. I think the M3's need more power to sound better. The KEF's just don't seem to sound that good. The TF-600 sound better, but still lacking a depth or presence I seem to be looking for. I don't know if horns are for me or not, but I'd like to try. I have never had any horned speakers before. I am hoping to check out a pair of Forte II's soon, but not in my house. So...I am looking for a recomendation for a speaker to match up good with my 2 McIntosh peices. I listen to classic rock, some jazz and new age. Not alot of vocals....but Nora Jones is nice. Thanks for any advice. BoB
