  1. Wow, thanks for the response Bigdog, I have to admit out of the 4 i liked the SVS sub until i saw the price. I may try to call them and see if they will be willing to work on the s/h costs with me. I'll need to check out the receiver im going to purchase to see if it has a crossover. Thanks again.
  2. Ok guys, ive done several days worth of research and i can't seem to decide which way to go on the subs, so i was hoping maybe some opinions would help me decide, or if anyone has any personal experience with these subs. These are the 4 i've narrowed it down to: Option 1: Klipsch RW-10d $399 (b-stock), free shipping from where i would purchase. Advantages: Matches setup aesthetically, guaranteed good build quality/quality control, manageable size. Disadvantages: Paying a premium for the Klipsch name, only goes to 28hz. Option 2: HSU VTF-2 MK3, $494 + 65 s/h. Advantages: 12" sub, ggoes to 18hz, HT publications review extremely well. Disadvantages: Cost, size, weight, having to pay for S&H. Option 3: SVS PB10-NSD, $439 +65 s/h. Advantages: Most aesthetically pleasing sub, reviews/sound quality supposedly VERY good, highest power output, manageable size. Option 4: eD A2-300 $350, free s/g. Advantages: Lowest cost of all options, reviews extremely well, 12" sub, goes to 18hz. Disadvantages: Large, very large, hideously ugly, custom built so order to delivery time would be much higher. I thank everyone for your opinions. Right now i'm kinda tossing between the eD and the klipsch since they're closer to the cost range i'm looking at, but if i will see a substantive performance increase from the HSU or SVS, i am not disinclined towards paying the extra.
  3. Cool, that makes me feel a lot better, because to be honest, i really didnt want to spend the extra 300 or so on the rs-52's when the time came around.
  4. Subs dont really work that way. That being said both the sub and port do move some air, so if you have any thing nearby that could flap, such as a plant or window blinds, etc, i would point it away from those. Also keep in mind the amp is typically mounted to what is typically considered the "back" of the subwoofer, so you could always use that as a point of ref.
  5. Hi guys, was hoping for an answer to this question. I'm about to purchase a marantz sr5003 and a pair of rf-62' as well as a rc-62 center. The marantz produces 90w per channel and has the ability to bi-amp the front speakers. Now, i'm assuming the biamp is really more for just louder playing or is there actually a quality difference in the sound? I'm concerned b/c the RF-62's are only rated for 150w RMS, and in theory biamping them would be putting 180w into them, which im assuming is too much and would greatly increase the chance of blowing the speaker? In all reality is 90w going to be plenty to drive the speakers or should i consider bi-amping etc. Also, side question. I was planning on a pair of rs-42's later down the road for my surrounds. They are rated at 75w RMS, of course the Marantz is 90w RMS, is this going to overload those speakers? Will i be better off playing it safe and getting rc-52's instead? Thanks for all your time guys ;-)
  6. Hello all, i'm shortly going to become a member of the klipsch community (w00t!), but i'm trying to hammer down exactly how much i wanna spend and realistically what i want. I have been posting for a while at avsforum.com and recently discovered this klipsch official forum, so i thought i'd come straight to the source for the answers :-) Basically the point i am at is that i have been told that there is a pretty substantial difference in the sound between the rf-52's and the rf-62's. Now i've scoured the web and i can't seem to determine any major differences aside from the obvious (6.5" vs 5.25" woofers). When i suggested saving the money on the rf-52's i was advised heavily to bite the bullet and pay extra for the 62's. I was hoping some of the experts here could go a little more into detail about the differences between these two speakers outside of what the website shows (power handling, etc). So far the only thing i could find is that the 62's have a ceramic motor? for the tweeter vs a neodymium or something along those lines. Outside of that they look pretty much the same with the exception of size of the woofers and overall dimensions/power handling. Either way. I also was looking into picking up a sub, probably won't go with a klipsch sub as i've again been strongly reccomended towards companies like SVS, Epik, eD, etc. I was looking pretty heavily at the eD a2-300 and was wondering if anyone had opinions, if this would match well with the klipsch setup, etc. I thought i should mention i'm about 95% positive ill be going with a marantz sr5003 receiver for this setup, and i will add the rear surrounds later. The primary use of this setup will be movies and tv shows via my HTPC and occasional gaming/blu-ray via PS3/XBOX360. I also will be using it very occasionally 1-2 times/month for music listening (lots of industrial, EBM, electronic styles of music, etc) for when i'm cleaning the house or what not. Ok, and two final random questions. Were i to end up with the 62 series over the 52, would i be doing them a major disservice by going with rs-42's later down the road vs 52's or 62's. etc? Also, since im purchasing a 7.1 receiver but i only intend to do 5.1, will i be able to biamp the fronts? is there even a point in biamping, etc? Sorry for the ton of questions ;( Thanks for all of your help guys!
