  1. Curious. If you have a 5.1 receiver that's rated at 100 wpc, but then you add an external amp to power the front l/r. does that mean your 5.1 receiver now has 500 total watts to drive the center and surrounds, so each of those channel will receive roughly 167wpc?
  2. Yeah, if you're in a large city then it's a good hunting ground, but if you're in the surburban areas, not much to see. I've been trying to sell my Yamaha AX596 without any luck.
  3. That AVR-2809CI sure looks nice. Crutchfiel is selling it at retail, but they give the Denon BD player for FREE ($800). Quite a deal. I am trying to sell some of my existing A/V equipments on Craiglist, hopefully I can raise enough funds for either this Denon or the Onky 7 series.
  4. anyone familiar with the Denons? which Denon series would have preouts?
  5. thanks for the clarifications. that make sense.
  6. really? i thought i saw preouts on the 5 series (507 and 576). maybe i weren't seeing the right things.
  7. no, i watch movies 70% of the times. listen to music by 30%. so i am looking for an avr that's more appropriate for HT.
  8. i don't really need hdmi 5.1 or 7.1 is fine (i am currently only using 5.1) no bluray movies 70%/music 30% (roughly) i guess as long as i stick with the major brands (Onkyo or Denon), i should be fine?
  9. ohh, another question. if i want to upgrade the receiver, what is my best option? considering that I will get an Emotiva Amp to power the front two? I wouldn't want to spend to much on the new receiver, as the Emotiva already cost $300. so my price range is probably $300-$400 for the AVR. and I don't need the fancy features, just good quality sound to power the center, surround, and sub.
  10. thank guys, for the quick responses. according to Youthman, i guess i won't need to look for an external amp as the SR504 won't support it. however, the information was certainly very helpful.
  11. sorry for the stupid question, but are these good amps? are they klipsch quality? also, i currently have the Onkyo TXSR504. will these amps be compatible with my current receiver? so i would send the 2 front channels to the amp, and let the receiver handle the rest of hte channels?
  12. sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread but what's reasonable amp to power a pair of RF3 and an RC3II? am i looking at something in the $300-$400 range for a good quality amp, or is it going cost me upward of $500? thanks
  13. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/features/549093503/klipsch-rt10d-black ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyone interested, check the above link.
  14. hopefully, i can find that price near the holidays. it will be a while though, but i should be able to get by with my current Onkyo HT system; ;which is pretty decent imo.
  15. thanks, i've contacted eric, he quoted a price that's $50 higher than ebay. i will have to keep hunting as my budget can't afford a speaker over $300.
  16. thanks for the response rick88. i was hoping that your answer would be the rc-52 (save it about $150) but i'll try to hunt for a good price on the rc-62.
  17. Hi all, just joined the forum. I've been reading the forums for the last severals and would love to get some help. Currently, I have a pair of RF3's that I've been using the last 6-7 years. Absolutely love it. Anyway, I haven't got a chance to expand my set up due to various reasons (financials, kids, time, etc.) Now, I am looking to create a 5.1 HT setup with my RF3's as the front pair. Reading through the posts the last few days, it look like the RC3 and RC35 are the matching centers, though some suggested RC7 as the better option. As you know, it's nearly impossible to find any of those; unless you're looking at the second hand market. Right now, I am looking at the RC52 and RC62 to serve as my center speaker. Can you tell me which one of these two would match best with my front RF3? If there are other center speakers that would match better with my RF3s than the above, please let me know. Thanks much!! BTW, I am using a pair of Polk bookselfs as my surround for now.
