  1. How can you tell if your caps need replacing in the Heresy II's? Thanks Nate
  2. Thanks Dennie Yes it makes a difference using the volume control it seems to be better the louder I go, its really bad at low volume. Also I tried it with the radio, DVD, and using different speaker wire with the same effect. Maybe I do need that lube, would I have to gut the receiver to apply it? Nate
  3. Hey gents, Have my system all up and running with the heresy II's and I am getting crackling on the right channel. At first thought it might be the speaker ie caps. (don't know how to if the caps need replacing speaker date is 86). Switched speakers around and the same thing left good right bad. I am using a Thorens Td 126 with a Marantz 2240 took the caseing off the Marantz looked at the soldering on the binding post it all looks good hooked back up same problem. I turned it up louder speaker worked good then started again. WTF getting a little pissy now I have no clue where to look, is it something serious or could it be something as simple as dust in the volume control. Appreciate your input Nate
  4. Hi, I want to put new binding posts on my Marantz 2240 to drive my Heresy II's. Has anyone done this receiver or something similar? I don't know what post to use? Thanks Nate
  5. Now that I am listing to the II's more I may need to get a subwoofer for it. Now I don't want huge base like I had in my cars during my high school years. I want something a little less organ moving. What would be a good match up? Also it would be running off my Marantz 2240 (no sub out) would I hook it up too my speaker "B" outputs? Thanks Nate
  6. All I have to say is wow!! what a difference then my other speakers, so clear on my 2 watt SET amp I can't turn it up to loud (my daughters in bed) I have to questions for you guys. My cousin a fellow audiophile said that I should raise the speakers about 6 inches off the ground to achive better bass and raise the sound feild up to ear level. Now would this be good or should I make the angled stands like on the III's, which would be better? Second question how can I find the date of production for my speakers? How can I insert some pics for you guys? Nate
  7. Once again thanks to all for there advice on my speaker choice between the Heresy I's and II's. I choose the II's. Can't wait to get them home and hear them with my S.E.X. Amp and also with my Thorens....................HELL YA!!! SWEET VINYL ITS BEEN WAY TOO LONG.
  8. Check out vintage Marantz receivers I am using the 2240B they are very reasonably priced (couple hundred bucks) and easy to come by. Hope this helps.

  11. Thanks to all for the responces to my previous post but I am still left hanging. Is there much of a difference between the HI's and H2's which one is a better buy? (Note the H2's are from a dealer with a 90 day warranty) Thanks guys Nate

  16. Hi guys, New to this forum. I have some questions about what speakers to get for my system curently I am running a Marantz 2240, Thorens TD126MKIII, and a Bottlehead SEX SET tube amp. The Thorens is powered off the Marantz. Now to my question There are limited Heritage class speakers here in Canada and I have a chance to pick up some Hersey I's. Reading some previous forums I may have to Change out The crossovers and whatnot with the older Herseys the speakers itself look to be in great shape and are 100% original for $550 from a private sale or there is a set of H2's from a dealer with warranty in excellent shape. Further down the road I plan on running more tube equipment but for now it is solid state will the Herseys sound good with my set up? Room size appr. 12x13. Regards Nate
