  1. Try also the "wave" and the "bass" by doubleclicking in the sound icon (the litttle yellow horn)in your taskbar. I got the Pro's 4.1 too and the SBLP 5.1, so i got them in a "6.2 configuration by using my ACS48's as center. They do ratle my computer room pretty good. Other than that, I couldnt tell you. I also don even have to go over 50% in the main volume of the Pros hardly ever, I do keep the main windows volume high tho( 90 to 100 %). good luck!. Oh I almost forgot, you'll find the bass/treble setting after you double click in the sound icon in the taskbar then click the "advanced" tab in the main volume.
  2. Try my set up, I got the SBLP 5.1 card, the Klipsch Pros 4.1, and my center set is the Altec Lansing ACS48. This Altecs will set you back only around $100 and they are worth every penny and they team up beautifully with the Pros in a 6.2 set up. By the way the ACS48 will put out 20 each sat,40 watts sub, for a total of 80 watts center!!. Remember your SBLP 5.1 has a "digital/analog" output, this is where you'll plug in your center. You'll get the full effect of 5.1 in your DVD's and just awesome gaming sound! I was just playing Unreal Tournament and even with the volume turned down it is just "unreal!!" .My mp3's sound awesome too, not mention my cd's.Give it a shot, you'll be amazed.
  3. Well, this is the 3rd case on this same happening I read here in this forum. Same thing happened to me I already sent my 4.1's for a replacement. I suggest you do the same. About the sub getting hot it is NOT an exageration, It gets hot eough to burn your fingertips, and distortion comes out from all speakers (sats, sub). It does worry me that it will happen to my replacement set, I sure hope not, I really do like my pro's. I wonder if there is a faulty component.. (the limiter?) Amy if you are reading this, what do you think, has this bring any concerns at Klipsch?
  4. The exact thing happened to my set during the first week I had them. I will be getting my replacement back soon. Look at my post in this same topic "Overheated Sub". If your set still's under warranty you should be able to get a replacement. The 4.1's come with a built in limiter that suposse to prevent this from happening, but I am afraid some dont kick in when they should, I will be keeping a close look at this as I suspect more incidents such as this might ocurr to others. You should be able to have some fun with the 400 watts packed in this 300 dollars set.Lets hope everything turns out alright. Good Luck.
  5. hehehe Paragon... There are some nice bass tracks in that mp3 and I heard them with my ACS48's (formerly center/sub), I should get my Pros back within a couple of days... Nothing beats clears sinuses hu?
  6. Here is where I read about the limiter in the Pros... btw, it's pretty good review! http://www.gamersdepot.com/hardware/speakers/klipsch/promedia_41/001.htm Txs again Amy.
  7. Amy, the setting in windows was just above the halfway point, and it was sounding really really good, nothing TOO exagerated but just a nice setting, since I was sitting right in front of the PC. I was listening too an older Police song, not anything with booming bass, and like I said, I was really enjoying it.Then, it just started distorting in all speakers ( sats and sub).Even after I tunrned of the song a staticky sound kept coming out..I then turned the power off at the sat with the dials and the static noise stayed. I read in this forum in more than one message some guys using the set a max settings, I only did that once when I first got them a week ago to test the power of the set and the point when distortion would become notisable, but before I even got to that point my computer room's windos started to rattle like they where going to break! so I backed down... with a big smile on my face. I never had to try that again since it is NOT necesary. I just got a UPS lable from the place I did the purchase for a return and replacement... I also read that the 4.1's come with a built in "limitator" not sure if thats the name of the gaddget but I belive it suposse to keep the amp from going over the limit... any fee back on that?
  8. Good call, you'll need an STEREO male to male minijack cord there...I would try both at the small expense, and see wich sounds best.
  9. Yes you can run all 4 of them nicely with the splitter suggested above. Make SURE to get a STEREO mini jack splitter, because there are mono mini jacks too, so be specific in your shopping, It should ran you under 4 or 5 bucks for a good one.
  10. I know what you mean on the sub, they do have some deep lows but for 160 watts I was expecting some chest vibes.... I Got mine a week ago and after messing with positioning and settings I found the sweet spot. I got to mention here that I used my "old" speakers (ragged Altec Lansings ACS48)for center/sub. Well, Today my Pros 4.1 surrendered to 75 to 80% on my Sound Blaster Live Plat, the sub started to distort majorly and you could had cook an egg in the back of it. I really hope that I had a deffectieve set becouse I just love the way I got them going in team with the AL's. I must note here that the Altecs are 80 total watts (20*2sats and 40 Sub) and the bass is NOT far behind the beautifull Pros at 160 watts sub. All and all they are a true sweet combo and I cant wait to get my replacement set back.
  11. My 4.1's left me stranded in the middle of a nice music session. I got a Sound Blaster Live Platinum card and I was playing MP3's 75 to 80% main volume, same on the Sub and surround dials. Everything was perfect till I started hearing distortion, severe distortion, I thought it was he MP3 at first but no, unfortunately it was my new 4.1's.... The Subwoofer box was extremely hot. I dont want to dare open it at this point. Has this happened to anybody else? or perhaps I got a set with a problem. I had them for one week, and I want to have them for a long time...I'd apreciate some feeback... Should I ship them back for a replacement?
  12. I agree with Dan,I would get a new sound card and the best one you can afford at that. Also try setting "wave" to about half way and the "treble" to 50 to 75%, keep trying different settings till you find a better one, also turn off DFX for winamp if you got it, try the eq on or off too and see what gives you the better results. But, bottom line get a good sound card. If all of the above fails, then it would be an actual speaker problem, and your new card wont go to waste either way! good luck!
  13. Keep looking in this Forum, I saw some help on Power DVD I belive you might need to upgrade to PowerDVD 3.0. but see for yourself. I Got the ATI DVD player so I wouldnt know... but there's help in this forum, look around.
  14. rol1: Do not worry about the Pro's not getting enough bass in the 5.1 configuration, belive me, they do. I placed the Pros sub in a small table in the right corner at just below ear level, and at an angle so that the vent port points in my direction. The Altec's sub is under the desk, the Altec sats (2) atop of the monitor and finally the Pros sats 2 front left and right of the pc and 2 rear (surround) left and right about 6 feet behind me. When I am cranking a bass rich tumping tune the air coming out of the vent port of the Pros sub ( at about 3.5 to 4 feet from me) kicks air at me strong enough to ruin my hair do!! hehehe, so , I'd say it is getting a strong bass signal
  15. Hehehe... gang the 6.2 set up puts a solution to one of the only doubts about getting a 5.1 speaker set or the Pros 4.1. I finally decided I was willing to sacrifice the 5.1 effects and become a member of the elite Klipsch owners gang... however, this sound card (SBLP5.1) gives me the option of adding a center channel to the melee, and this Altec Lansings I already had were just perfect for the task by providind the center channel and along with that bringing some more mids to the set. About the one 4.1 set per channel suggestion well.. hehehe, let's just say I am very happy with what I already got,and the truth is any more decibels than that could result in some serious ear damage... and I already did my share of that during al the concerts I went to during the 70's. Bottom line is, who needs 5.1 digital when 6.2 analog is just as sweet and with more kick.
  16. I just got my 4.1's yesterday and I inmediately set them up.My sound card is a Sound Blaster Live PLatinum 5.1, and previously I had a set of Altec Lansing ACS48 hooked up to it on the 2 speaker configuration. Now this Altecs are great!, belive me (20watts each sat, 40watts sub). With the arrival of my 4.1's, I was a bit undecided about the faith of my Altecs. Upon reading this great forum I realised that my sound card also supports 5.1 analog sound by using the digital/analog out as a center/sub out so my altecs are now the center channel, the 4.1 Pros would go into the front and rear outs respectively... and Gang, this is just an absolutely awesome rig!! I would definetively recomend it to anybody with a sound hungry ear. I can honestly say that I am finally happy with my PC sound. (till Klipsch puts out their own digi 5.1's!! hehehe)
  17. I just got my set of 4.1's yesterday and inmediately set them up. I got to tell you that they sound excellent. I never heard a set of 4.2's but remember that Klipsch worked a couple of things in this new set ( the 4.1's),and I am sure that this is an step forward not backward. By the way they are now available in several places in the internet.
  18. Yeah,I agree with Rocker, but if you must place them above you for somem reason, just try on having them at angle so they point towards you. That's what I did with my surround sats, and belive me you really do feel surrounded with sound!
