Some La Scalas just went on ebay for $1499. See item #3022384191.
I don't think those looked too nice. Oh well, I'll give it a couple days and off to ebay we go.

I am letting them go because the wife didn't like their appearance...so I got some Belles. Actually, I think the La Scalas sound better than the Belles. I got some ALK crossovers for the Belles and that helped.
They have been sitting in the formal living room for two years and the wife is running out of patience.
Sigh...

They sound great. Anybody interested would be welcome to come and check them out thoroughly.
They weren't used that much or very hard during their babied existence in my house.

I am selling a pair of 1980 La Scalas in pretty good shape. Other pics available by email if you wish. There's a few scratches, dents, etc.
This is in another post, but it was about La Scala prices in general, so I decided to put up a specific post.
I am asking $1200. On ebay right now, there's a pair that looks really bad and the price is already over $1200. I don't want to ship, this would be a pick up item. I live north of Philadelphia.
I'll wait a couple days and put these on ebay as well.

That's a pretty impressive mod you did on the Belles.
BTW, a fellow who goes to the same shooting club I belong to makes custom speakers for high-end applications. He took a look at the crossovers and was very complimentary about the components and the workmanship.
Do you know if there's any market for selling the original Belle crossovers?

Still here. I've been digging through ebay and audiogon trying to figure out a reasonable price. Plus, I don't really look at the forum except maybe once every day or two.
I originally posted these things in hopes of getting help on the price. If you are interested in them, email me and we can work something out. If you wanted to come by to examine and take a listen, that would be fine too. I think that would be better than trying to ship them.
There's a pair on ebay now at $1000 and I think they look pretty crappy compared to mine. Other recent ebay prices include: 1336, 1125, 1275, 820, 1075, 1175.
I think I'll ask $1200 or put them on ebay.

I got a set of Belle's a couple years ago to replace some La Scalas. I still have the La Scalas. I put ALK crossovers in the Belles and now they sound pretty nice.
First Question: Would there be any benefit to putting the La Scala midrange horns in the Belles? (I know they would stick out the back)
Second Question: Has anyone ever done it successfully?

If you folks are interested, I also took pics of the sides and the backs of each speaker. If you want, just email me and I can send them.
They have a few scratches, dents, places where the veneer is broken, etc., but overall, they're in decent condition. But most important, they sound great. I have even thought of adding new elements to the horns and putting new woofers in and they'd be like new.

I have a pair of La Scalas sitting in the formal living room. My wife is ticked that they have been sitting there for about 2 years since I got Belles because she thought the La Scalas were too ugly.
Anyway, what would be an appropriate price for a pair that are in pretty good shape? I got them in 1980 while still in college.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm in the Philly area.

I've listened to Velo, Hsu, REL, a bunch of others and, a super-high-end thing that weighs 400+ lbs. made out of machined aluminum that sells for between $25K $30K. See "Forbidden Planet".
SVS, in my subjective mind, outperformed everything except the aluminum beast, which costs more than 20 times the SVS price.
In addition, their director of R&D, a frequent poster in this area, personally helped me pick the right model based on my room dimensions and equipment. (I like the personal touch.)
The SVS, dollar for dollar, can't be beaten, IMHO. It even gives other high-dollar subs a run for the money.

I love my Belles, just I loved my La Scalas before for 20 years. In other words, my Klipsch speakers have been great.
However, I replaced a KSW-300 with two SVS 20-39cs. I now know that I had never really experienced bass before.

Well, I live near Philadelphia. Just as you would suspect, the air is extremely dry here.
To remedy that condition, I purchased a pair of 20-39cs "humidifiers", with a special Samson ionizing attachment.
As I experimented with my SPL "humidity" monitor from Radio Shack, the room became very humid, almost to the point of having no windows. The "humidity" was peaking near 118-120 db and the wife immediately started complaining about our new, more comfortable environment.
The added "humidity" must have had an effect on my dvd collection, becuase all of a sudden, each and every disk had different characteristics, heretofore unknown levels of "humidity", almost to the point of aiding digestion.
So, with my Belles blasting and the "humidifiers" on full, I can enjoy a comfortable, refreshing evening, by myself. The wife usually goes upstairs to escape the added moisture and I am left by myself to enjoy the climate and to watch insects crawl out on the carpet and die.
The new, high levels of "humidity" have even caused my kid's guinea pigs to squeal with delight and run around in the cage as if they were out in the spring weather.
If any of you have "dry" rooms, by all means, buy some SVS "humidifiers". You'll enjoy the change.

So, being a good husband who is always sensitive to his wife's feelings, I went out and purchased more attractive speakers...Now, if I had only known you could make artificial corners for K-horns, I would have purchased them, because as we all know, they are even more attractive than the Belles.
Am I a good husband or what?

I got some Belles last summer which replaced La Scalas. So far, the only difference I can hear is a little roughness at high volumes with the tweeter in the Belles. Bass and midrange don't seem much different. I still have the La Scalas sitting in the family room. I am going to be doing some testing with the drivers, etc.

I use a Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player and an Adcom single-tray CD player. The digital connection on either machine sounds better than the analog on the other machine. Can't tell any difference when I compare digital to digital or analog to analog...just digital to analog.
But what do I know.

I have some Belles with a Denon AVR-4800. Would H2s work as center and rears?
Any other recommendations?

I have a KSW-300 with two Belle Klipsch. I probably need to get a new subwoofer, because I can hardly tell it's on. But, at random intervals, the subwoofer makes a deep, thumping noise. What could it be? To get rid of it, I have to unplug the subwoofer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
