  1. After a few years away Ive returned to Klipsch for my mains!! and Im so glad to be back. I just picked up some used black RF-63's from craigslist. They have a few dings but nothing a little sharpie cant fix and i got them for $500. Im now in audio heaven!! Im experiencing the same magic that I did back in 1994 when I spent my first real paycheck on some KG 3.5's and a harman kardon receiver. Ive got these RF 63's hooked up to a Kenwood KA-9100 vintage integtrated amp and they are the real deal, best speakers Ive heard in my difficult listening room by far!!! Ive been lurking in the forum for quite a while and was able to pull the trigger quickly on these due to the many opinions and reviews in these pages. thanks everyone for sharing your insights and knowledge. I do have one question about my amp. Im liking how the KA 9100 sounds with these but cant help thinking that more power and maybe something newer would make them reach their full potential. Any ideas? I could go for a power amp since I do have a high quality pre/pro. I really like the idea of a refurbished Mac power amp from the 70's or 80's but have never heard one. Open to suggestions...
  2. I got to solve this dilemma myself this evening. My local dealer had a demo pair of RB-61's for 349 and he let me take them home for a shootout with the B-3's. It was closer than I thought it would be but the RB-61's definitely sound more refined and just a little clearer in the highs. They also seem to go just a little bit deeper and play a little tighter in the bass dept. Add in the more versatile front port on the 61's and we have a winner!!! I think I got a good deal on these as they list at 499. Ive seen some on the internet for a little less but its worth it to have the peace of mind of the authorized dealer and for the opportunity to actually hear these in my own house. The last Klipsch I owned were some massive RF-3ii's that I had to get rid of when I moved into a small apt and I never thought I would be able to get their sound in a much smaller package. Happily Rockin out now!!!
  3. i was just quoted $425 for a brand new pair from an authorized dealer.
  4. I was able to "buy" a pair of B-3's at an authorized dealer for 278 plus tax. I told the salesguy I wasnt sure they would work in my space and mentioned that Best Buy allows full refunds if not satisfied. He waived their normal credit only return policy and said I could have full cash back if I dont like them. Well, I do like them but now Im wondering if I would like the RB-61's better. I just called another dealer who sells Reference series and he said he would sell me the RB-61's for 425 plus tax. Has anyone heard both of these speakers? The specs are close, with the RB-61 having a little more bass extension but it seems as if the drivers are totally different. What can I expect the RB-61's to do better? any input appreciated....
  5. Ive had KG 3.5's and RF-3ii's in the past and had to get rid of them due to moving into a smaller place. I never really gave the RB's a chance because I didnt think I would like bookshelf speakers that much. Well, Ive recently acquired a great sub (Velodyne spl 800r) and have it matched up with some old Celestion bookshelf model 110's. The sound is pretty good but I cant help thinking that the Klipsch RB series would give me more dynamics and punch for my classic rock records. Ive searched quite a bit but cant find a ranking of the front ported RB series. Mostly interested in knowing how the RB-75, RB-81, RB-61 and RB-35 compare to one another in the Klipsch hierarchy. Would appreciated input from anyone has experience with any of these speakers...
  6. I currently am running my KG3.5's with a nice vintage HK 730. I listen to a lot of rock 60's to current and keep reading that the Forte II's are one of the best rock sperakers ever made. With this receiver would I see a huge step up if I got some Forte II's? Rob
