  1. Sorry, but I would have to disagree with you on that one. That seems kind of a silly reason not to buy a quality amp. "Most" new consumer home amplifiers do not have a gain control, its just the pro amps that all have them. As far as not wanting to tolerate a hiss, Im not sure of your listening room or distance you sit from you speakers, but my RF-7's only have a slight hiss that can only be heard when you have your ear within about a foot from the horn, and I have an XPA-3 running them. OP, good luck with your decision, just giving you my opinion.

  2. Well, I would not purchase one right away. Personally I would wait and get everything set up, give it a couple months and go from there. If you feel like you are not getting the full potential out of your speakers then you can start looking. I have some RF-7s and I dont think there is a decently priced receiver that could ever push my RF-7's to there potential. There was a dramatic difference when I added an Emotiva XPA-3 amp to my system to run the mains and center. You have chosen some very equipment so far, and have a pretty nice sub, so you should be pretty happy with movies. Just give it a chance for a lil while and you can always add one later. Good luck.

  3. I see you are using an Ipod, Im not sure what format you are downloading in, but if your not downloading in the highest format, Klipsch speakers are unlistenable to with poor quality music. I can very easily tell a difference at higher volumes. I am pretty sure you are using the highest quality based on your knowledge and equipment list, but its something to look into.

  4. Good stuff guys....I wasnt too too interested, just checking on them. Im pretty happy with my KG-4's for now, until I find something I really want. I do feel my next speaker purchase wont be Klipsch for my 2 channel music, but well see.

  5. Hey whats up. I have RF-7s and an RC-7 powered by an XPA-3 and I think it is just flat out awesome. Plays very well at lower volumes, punchy, dynamic, in your face when it needs to be. I am looking to do the DeanG mod for all three speakers in the near future. For you, I think the XPA-2 would be a definite improvement over the B&K for what your looking to accomplish. However, I think the XPA-5 would only be a marginal imporvement, but it should be a little bit more "lively" compared to the B&K in my opinion. Where you live by the way?

  6. Hey whats up...I also have recently read people complaning about this as well and I do not know why a big deal is being made of this. I have an XPA-3 powering my RF-7's, and RC-7 and I have VERY good hearing and am very picky about my system. Now, there is an audible hiss, but it is only noticeable withing about 2 1/2 feet and only with my RF-7's, only from straight on, and if your not looking for it you wont hear it. The amp gain on both amps are 32db, so I am assuming it would be the same. I would say get yourself a pair of UPA-1's and get ready to be blown away, I know I was with my XPA-3. I also am looking into getting a UPA-2 or two UPA-1 for my two channel syetem.Good luck

  7. I would say as long as it is in good condition and everything is working properly go for it. I have a Marantz 2226B and have used it with my RB-61's and it sounded great. You dont "have" to use an external amp to drive your speakers, espically if you find a 2245 or 2270. If they are in good condition they should be able to drive almost and Klipsch speaker properly. I have also used my 2226B with my KG4's, which are 4ohm and it did just fine. Good luck with your search.

  8. I have an XP-3 with my RF-7s and RC-7, but I guess if you wanted to go bigger and badder I would just get an XPA-2, I have heard they are a total moster compared to the XPA-3. If I had the need/cash to get an XPA-2 for my RF-7's I would. I dont think your gonna do any better for performance/price for your speakers.

  9. Hey whats up...I have some RF-7's, and an RC-7(thanks Daryl), and recently purchased an Emotiva XPA-3 to power them, my Onkyo 707 will be powering the rears. The XPA totally changed the RF-7, they are complete monsters now and it is crazy awesome! I highly recommend it, if you have any questions lemme know and I will try and help.

  10. Hey whats up man. I just got my new ED A5-350 yesterday and its a monster. So far its doing an awesome job for music but I havent watched a movie on it yet(to much football on). But seeing how its kinda geared twoards movies, I am sure its gonna be awesome. But it is also very good for music. I dont think you can do much better for preformance wish for the price than it. It doesnt have the best looking finish on it, but its good enough. And seeing how you dont care how big it is, even better, cause its alot bigger than I though it was gonna be. haha. I also have RF-7's and an RC-7 center, and the mains seem to blend very well with them, but I am pushing them with an Emo XPA-3. Good luck with your purchase. Also I dont know how good SVS customer service is but ED's is awesome! Bunch of cool dudes over there.

  11. No problem, I will take some pics and let you all know what i think....Im pretty darn excited. As far as the tv, I could not pass up 61" of HD love for $1100, the tv is gorgeous, but my next tv will definitly be one of the new led tvs. And if any of you wanna put your system to a pretty good overall test, go watch District 9 on bluray, pretty intense. I thought I wouldnt like the movie, but it definitly grew on me.

  12. So I have been eyeing alot of new stuff over the past couple yrs and oddly enough during this month everything that I was interested in has been discounted and I feel really good about all my new stuff, as soon as everything comes in I will post some pics. In the mail is an Emotiva XPA-3($519), an Onkyo TX-SR707($469), and an ED A5-350($700). Stuff I already have are some sexy RF-7's in cherry, an RC-7 in cherry and some RB-61's in black for surrounds. Other odd stuff is an PS3 slim, HD cable box an a 61" Samsung DLP. Any thoughts on all my new gear? Anything you would have done differ? I am always on the lookout for the "bang for the buck" deal, so I cannot wait to get everything up and running!!! :)

  13. Wow sounds good...I wish I was making the same money I used to, but Im gonna have to save for a lil while. I really want to get a bundle pack(which they said they were gonna do next year) and get the UMC-1 and an XPA-5. My receiver is doing an okay job with movies right now, so I should be able to hold off until then. I reaaaallly want and XPA-5. hahaha...

  14. So I noticed you have an Emotiva amp to go along with your RF-7s. I also have some RF-7s and an RC-7 and some RB-61's for surrounds. Which amp do you have? How does it sound? I have been seriously considering getting an XPA-5, but recently I have seen them coming out with the UPA-5, which would save me a few bucks, but I am leaning twoards the XPA-5.
