  1. I'm planning on getting a sima sv4 converter in a couple weeks, was wondering if anyone knew anything about these. I dont want to route all of my s-video connections through this just my vcr composites to convert to s video because once I plug s video into my sony tv it overrides composites so I have to use one or the other. Can I hook vcr to sima to receiver then receiver to tv? or will I have to go receiver to sima then tv? I'm sure I can do it either way, just wanna be sure. Also how does the volume limiter work?

Here's an idea for you, I admit I haven't read anyones replies so if I repeat forgive me. I have a sony a55 dolby digital sattalite, a little spendy 350 for the receiver alone, no dish, but you could find it cheaper and you don't have to use sonys dish which is also spendy, I got a hughes sattalite dish. Look at pawn shops or get one from someones abandoned system. The Sony uses a rf remote so you can change channels anywhere in the house, in the closet underneath a blanket it works great! Also it receives 5.1 surround! For the second part if you want it connected to more tv's and this I'm not sure about so somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Sima makes a video switcher (SV-4) which converts composite to s-video, has a volume limiter and has 4 ins and two outs. would make a nice addition to any system. I'm getting one in a couple weeks, not for that reason though, so I can hook up all my s-video connections and still use my vcr. Costs 150 retail, but you can get it cheaper. Also terk makes good hd'tv antennaes. Can't list everything would take to long, look into these they should work for you in a lot of ways. My wife loves the sat. remote, & I think she'll like the volume limiter on the sima so the commercials don't blow us away anymore. Sorry just scanned replies and seen I was a little off the page but maybe this will help anyway. I think for now hdtv is wayoverrated and not worth getting into right now.
  3. I promised my dealer I wouldn't give out the price I got mine for and that is a promise I'm going to keep. I got the rf-3's,rc-3,rs-3, and ksw12 sub. I wish I could tell you, but I have to keep my word if I want deals in the future, but I got mine deliverd to my door for much, much MUCH lower, it can be done. How much lower you ask? Much lower! Be kind and courteous to your dealer, maybe even offer to buy more than just the speakers, and you might be surprised at what happens. Good luck (P.s. I'm not kidding MUCH lower, lol)
  4. Have loved klipsch for years and the nearest dealer to me was a four hour drive, I bought the reference line a few months ago out of newjersey having never seen or heard these speakers. I had a wonderful buying experience and will order from this dealer many times again in the future, GREAT service. But now I don't have to, pacific sound right here in minot as of last month is a dealer for Klipsch!! Thank you klipsch for finally giving us up here in ND another dealer. I belive we only had 1 other dealer which is in Fargo. & Yes it's the city in the movie Fargo. I only hope they can hold the inventory required so they can keep being a dealer, because here in ND the population isn't that high and the cities are major miles apart, but just having the ability to be able to see and hear a few of the speakers rather than just look at adds is another part of what selling the product is all about. If all dealers were required to stock major inventory it would take away alot of peoples ability to "get to" the product because some dealers just couldn't keep up, and if they can't sell it that means hundreds of people wont be able to see it. I'll settle for a handfull rather than none at all. 99% of people here have no idea what klipsch is, they think bose is the only HT product there is. Now that's ridiculous, so the next time you order a klipsch speaker, call & order it from ND so we can keep our stores and wake some of these frozen rednecks up to what klipsch is!!
  5. My brother is stationed at Mindrot AFB , excuse me , Minot AFB, are you in the AF or do you just love the cold? Not in the air force, was born & raised in ND & like the cold and snow - good for business, I work at jeromes body shop so if your brother has ever been in a fender bender, we've probably worked on his car. We're the largest collision center in the area, we work on everything from semi's to street rods to custom imports. I'm currently installing a widebody kit on a 97 eclipse website for the project is www.geocities.com/teamsaisoku/k.htm if anyones interested. The owner is from the AFB, he might know your brother. Thanks for the info I'll try that this weekend.
  6. Thanks 4 the fast reply, I hooked up my y adapter and man! immediate difference, had to turn my sub down! Didn't think it was that easy, have yet to try settings on my receiver, pretty confusing 4 me, I have kids and have 2 do most my settings at night and at low volumes it's hard to hear the difference, i'll try this weekend. I thought for sure I was gonna get jumped for saying I lacked bass, but sounds like it's just a matter of hooking it up right, I was thinking about using bananna plugs or biwiring my rf3's any more tips? You guys were great at responding, my first day on this board and within hours had some of my questions answerd & I hope to do the same for someone else also.
  7. Sorry I can't be of any help right now but I do share your same interest, I've been tossing around this idea with my local stereo shop and if I have any good info for you in the future I'll post it, also I'll be back to see what you come up with. Like the idea!
  8. I have a sonyda30es receiver, similar to the 333 you are looking at, I just bought the complete line of klipsch reference speakers, rf3's, center, rears & ksw12 sub, love my receiver & speakers, for the money I think sony puts out a great product tons of hookups, the only problem you'll find is that there is too much flexability, there are tons of setup options, almost makes me wish the days of plug it in and hit play were back! To let you know though I am haveing one problem and I posted it the rf3's are very weak on bass, I know i'm gonna get told i'm crazy but that's the way it is for me and hopefully I'll fix the problem. One other thing that might help you in deciding if you haven't allready yet, all of my systems components are sony and 7 years to date HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM how unbelievable is that! My favorite component: Sony da55 dolby digital sattalite receiver, this thing kicks butt GREAT remote! email me if you have any questions.
  9. First I have a sonyda30 es receiver, it's amps are 80 watts per channel, but puts out better than my old pioneer which had 120 per channel. I have the complete line of reference speakers, center, rear and have the rf3's for mains & ksw12 sub, have had the system a few months, the only thing I've done is replaced the factory connectors with speaker wire. All of my cables are monster cables including the sub interconnect. I know these are great speakers but truth is I'm low on bass, it could just be my room but I doubt it. I have all of my speakers set to large I did bump up the bass on the rf3's via the receiver. Everybody says the system bumps and they turn down there sub, I have my sub maxed out which makes it allright but without it theres no way I'd have enough bass. I'm not a bass freak, I'd just like a little rattle through the house, the rf3's have nothing at normal volume, if amplifying the subs is what I have to do then I'll do it. Would like some connection tips for my rf3's and best cable connection for my sub, I've got monster interconnect into the lfe input is this the best route for HT & music? Would hate myself if I don't use these speakers to there fullest potential, if anyone else is having this problem would like to hear from you.
