  1. Hsu I see, I`ll look those up, You can`t have enough GOOD bass, can you. Of coarse I haven`t solved my main speakers yet so I may be getting the a bit ahead of myself. Thanks Jim
  2. I do like the two sub idea here. How are you guys wiring these? I have a killer MK [ 12 " ] sub that puts out plenty low end but would be interested in a second sub, what would you guys suggest for a second, smaller tighter one for a tighter bass and a little higher bass? Thanks Jim
  3. Well I just went through the " what to buysaga" plus I just returned to audo/video after a 12 yr. absence, talk about everything changing. Anyway there are many things I learned about HDMI receivers, there are 2 kinds one that just passes HDMI through and one that decodes it. There are Mfgs. that dont tell you upfront which they have, you have to dig for the info. HDMI is changing fast, I was told by Christmas HDMI 1.4 will be here. I came to the conclusion I was going to buy a receiver that did not process the HDMI, just one that passed it thru, with inputs/outputs. My bluray decodes the HDMI anyway and has 7.1 descrete audio outputs. My receiver has 7.1 audio inputs and 7.1 pre outs.Everything works just fine for me.
  4. wuzzzer The more I learn about the Fortes the more I like, placement looks to be a fit for me also. It`s time for me to get out and see whats available. Thanks for all the time you spent helping and the good advice. I`ll post how things are going and probably have more questions Thanks Jim
  5. I forgot to ask, Do you have a opinion on the $500 asking price for the origional Fortes in the craigs list, although I do think the Forte II`s may end up the better choice, to search for. Jim
  6. Hi oldtimer, Well thats good to hear they wont be like finding a needle in a haystack. I`m going to have to get busy and start looking. My sub gets the job done so I`m not worried on the low end, just so it isn`t anemic, which I don`t think is the case with the Foetes. Thanks Jim
  7. Hi wuzzzer, Thanks for the reply. I can see why you like the Forte II`s. Can they be placed against the wall with the radiators. I will not be able to place in a corner, the wall is 22 feet long. Would a separation of say 8 feet work, I know it depends on the room but am I far off? Jim
  8. Hello Roger I have read many of your posts and enjoyed them, you have knowledge I wish I had. For many reasons Klipsch has interested me for some time, I happen to have a very complete wood working shop in the basement and have a hobby of cabinet building so in researching the Klipschs I ran into many references to building their own cabinets which interested me but of coarse sound is the end result. There seems to be a "almost cult feeling" surrounding the ownership of Klipsch speakers, I like that. I have read articles relating to the upgrades some are making, I`ve never read that about other speakers so there must be something to it. Anyway I do like your explanation of the Fortes, Quartet and Chorus II`s being more articulate, I like that. What do you think the chances are in finding these speakers in good shape? Oh, "I would be interested" in what you would pick. Thanks Jim
  9. Hi, Do you think it would be tough finding 5 Heresys in excelany shape? I failed to mentiion I also have a Martin & Kreisell sub woofer that I like a lot ant it delivers house shaking bass. Thanks Jim
  10. Thanks for the quick reply, you reinforce what I`ve read regarding Heresys and Fortes. Would you consider the low, mid, or upper frequencys in either speaker to be thier strong point, do they have any weak points in reproduction? Thanks Jim
  11. Well I just purchased a new Rotel Home Theater receiver to handle the electronics and a Panasonic 50" flat panel TV and a Panasonic Bluray, now for the speakers. I`m looking to put some Klipsch speakers together. First I`m looking for 5 speakers and am hoping to put together some good sound with bookshelves, will I be able to do this with Klipsch or will I need to have floor speakers for the fronts? I`ve been reading some of the threads and some here feel that the Heresy`s and the Forte`s are good floor speakers, do any of the new Klipsch`s perform as well for dollars spent, something like the RF-7 for instance. Any help will be appreciated. Strange as it seem I`m finding some problems finding dealers in the Chicago ares to listen to. I never thought that would be a problem in a city this big but it has, Best Buy has a very few models to demo so again what is you`re recommendations. Thanks Jim
  12. Thanks guys for all the help but I finally gave in and purchased a new Rotel Home Theater receiver and I love it. I still like my old Pro logic system with seperate amps but I have to say this Rotel is sweet sounding and everything just plugs in and I still can plug in some outragious amps to the front 3 channels, its a high quality piece. Now on to the rest of the system thats the speakers and I`m looking to put some Klipschs together and I`ll bet this is the place to be for that. Thanks Jim
  13. Thanks for the reply. I don`t know how I missed the forum and thanks for letting me know. I can see where this new Prepro is generating great intrest, I`d jump on it now, like many others. It looks like, from what you posted it won`t be long. It sure sounds like it will be "the Pre pro" at that money. Jim
  14. Thanks for the reply. You use you`re coax, do you do this rather than using fiber optics? I have both coax and fiber optics and never have used coax. I there a advantage to the coax?
  15. I have a Panasonic Bluray that has a digital fiber optic output for audio. Does anyone know if I use this connection does it output the same uncompressed signal to the preamp for audio, or is the HDMI the only output that sends all the 7.1 audio info forward. Thanks Jim
  16. Hi, You mention Sean Fogg, I`m new to all this where can I contact Mr Fogg he may be just the person for me to have work done. Thanks Jim
  17. Ya I see whats going on. As I said its been a long time, people are waiting. Well I still looking so I`ll keep checking back with them but I`m not going to wait forever. Thanks Jim
  18. Ya, I see that they are still not out, wonder why? Seems like there are many who look forward to this preamp. I`m supprised they arn`t letting everyone in on whats up, their last upsate was about 6 months ago. Maybe it`s to cheap at that price, who knows, well I`m still looking. Thanks Jim
  19. Get out of here!!!!!!!! Ask a question and get what I`M LOOKING FOR, HOW GOOD IS THAT. That looks to be exactly what I`m looking for. Is it on the market now, I see it said june. Has anyone done any reviews yet. Thanks Jim
  20. Thanks for the reply. You know I may not have set the Pioneer up properly. I basically watched 3/4 movies on bluray through the Pioneer.then watched the same with my " old pro logic surround sound processer with my amps" and bluray. the sound was superior with my old stuff. I was running the audio from the optical output on the TV to my processer. I just didn`t want to spend $1800 and not have everything get better. Do you know of a pre/pro thats less than $1500 that good? Thanks Jim.
  21. First post. I have just purchased a 50" Panasonic TV and a Panasonic bd80 Bluray. I have separate amps that I want to use in the home theater because I like their sound and they are bridgeable to mono [ 300 watts ]. The rest of my electronics are gone. So I have the tv, bluray, and amps that's it. I purshased a Pioneer elite sc 05 av reciever and "returned it" because the sound is no where near my seperate amps and that was a $1800 receiver, so it looks like a receiver will not work for me. My Bluray has 5.1/7.1 audio outputs, which is perfect for using my amps. As I understand it its HDMI passes audio through uncompressed so whatever I attach to it will have great sound. Question how is everyone with seperate amps making this connection, I don't want a receiver and I don't want a $2000 preamp. I need 5.1/7.1 analog input and the same output with volume control. That sounds easy to me but I can`t seen to be able to find what I need. Does anyone have any suggestions. I very well may not be understanding how things work now but willing to learn. If this is too lengthy to answer can someone point me in the direction of a " idiots guide" Thanks Jim
