  1. the tip is the positive and the shell is the negative...that's pretty much standard in any plug.

As for Shiplemw1 I suggest you think first, almost all high tech computer chips are made in China and Taiwan further quote:" converter might have on performance? maybe add some more heat into there so you'd probably be looking at a little less power," Well this is plain @##@ because if you are not using the transformer it wont generate heat , there is a switch remeber. I see that you're an engineer also; just wanted to say that you're right about your two statements here.
  3. The manual for the 4.1's says the sub shouldn't be no closer than 10" away from the monitor.
  4. Got mine today also. And they sound really great.
  5. I also found the $90-100 price too steep for dedicated speaker stands. I went to Radio Shack and picked up a couple of microphone stands. I liked the ones with the heavy base to them and the total package was black. Also, you can get two surface mounted microphone adapters which has the female threads (5/8-27) to screw onto the male threads of the microphone stands. Radio Shack only had these adapter plates with the male threads. You could find them at any reputable audio store. And finally, you could bolt a plate to this with your speakers mounted to it. The stands cost 19.99 each with each adapter plate costing about 3 bucks. The total price would be a lot less than 90-100 dollars. You should save about 50-60 bucks.
