  1. Figured it out...it was a really stupid mistake actually due to working on installing all this crap at 3am...we had to splice two speaker wires together to make the wire for the rears longer, and when I put electrical tape around the ends of the wires I didn't separate the pos and neg wires....thus that is why both rear speakers (using the original speaker wire) would cause the short...
  2. I've used banana plugs to terminate the speaker wires. It always shuts off during the Audessy auto calibration when it's checking the back right speaker. It'll go through the process once on that speaker just fine, but when it does it again on the speaker (usually at a louder volume) the receiver shuts off. I have re-spliced and reconnected the banana plugs to both rear speaker wires and it still does it :/
  3. So guys, I spent 12 hours mounting and concealing my speaker/wires and tv/cables. It looks beautiful, except I can't do anything with it because every time I try to play something through my speakers my Denon receiver shut off in the middle of it and the standby button flashes red every .5 seconds. I looked at the troubleshooting section in the manual, and unless I'm missing something, nothing I do works. Please help. Everything is connected the way it was last week, only difference is everything is mounted. I don't know what to do. I have lungs full of that insulation crap from my attic and nothing to show for it.
  4. I figurd it out...I feel stupid though. The monster subwoofer cable has angled slots cut into the end that goes around the pre-out on the receiver. I have to twist it on so the cable goes on and holds a secure fit. Before I was just pushing straight in, which if I had pushed hard enough, I would have broke the pre-out. It works fine now.
  5. I've been doing a little extra reading. I work around TVs on a day to day basis, and I think plasmas have better color than the LEDs, but the only thing that I seem to be reading a lot of is that some plasma tv's buzz. Although I'm sure my surround sound will drown that out, it still worries me. The V10 is supposed to be the king of HDTVs right now. I'm really wanting the 50" to replace my 32" LCD Samsung . Other than the buzzing, I'm not concerned at all about heat or burn-in. Reflection would be my only problem, but I hear the V10 is really good with that. I was checking out avsforums and I was honestly overwhelmed with all of the topics...a lot of good info, but sifting through 100+ pages in each topic to find what you're looking for takes some time...
  6. Thank you, and yes I tried reversing it and putting it in other jacks on the back of my receiver. It just doesn't seem to want to go in anywhere....It realy stumps me.
  7. So I had the Monster subwoofer cable hooked up to my Sub-12 just fine, but it wouldn't fit on the back of the A/V receiver. It seems to me like the input wasn't deep enough because the cable would not fit snug inside of it. So my subwoofer didn't work. Then I went and grapped a generic composite cable and used the white audio jack and that works fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the Monster cable didn't work?
