  1. I just bought RC-63's and the RC-64 Center. I also have the Harman Kardon AVR-354 refurb from Harman Kardon. It has 75 watts of power for all 7 speakers. It is enough to drive the speakers quite well. Not to mention that the sound quality is very, very, good. I plan on geting a amp later. But for now it is a very good set up. Great Highs, Great Lows, and Great Playback! Go For IT!!!! IT will make you feel better! Brown
  2. I just have the front three. I am building as I go. If i set the center for 80Hz should I drop the mains then too? I am using a Harman Kardon AVR 354.
  3. Guy have a questions about my speakers. I have gotten the RF-63's andthe RC-64. Fist things First! WOW! OMG! All the Above. I have the ability with m receiver to set the cross over on the center and the fronts as well. i have the crossover set at 80Hz for the mains and 100Hz for the center. Is that where they should be set or should I go 80Hz center and 60Hz mains?
  4. Thank you for that wuzzzer. I have a question for you though. I have a little marantz in me too. How would you compare the Marantz to Harman kardon? I have seen a coupld refurbs like the 7002 and what not. It is a little more money then the HK. Sound quality is what I am really going for. Power is going to come later and I know that it will really wakes them up too.
  5. Thank you for that it is a great relief to know. I am going to assume that they will have the up to date firmware that goes with it. I though about buying a Refurb right from Harman Kardon that has had everything done to it and save some money. But I keep looking at the AVR3600. I assume that is the difference from the year changes and whatnot. Would there be any benefit to going with the 3600 over the 354? Also, I should not have to worry about clipping the speaker? I am just using this for a front three stage and piecing together the rest of the surround as my budget gets a little better. I will be getting a emotiva amp later. But for know I think that this is going to work.
  6. I went to the local Audio Room here in Cedar Rapids. I was listening to the 63's and the 82's on a couple of different Recievers. They used Denon and Harman Kardon. I thought the HK was a more dynamic and robust reciever and the Denon seemed a little more flat. They used a AVR3600 for a 2 channel mode and I listened to the AVR 354 for the Home Theater application. I was really impressed. He output is really my only question. See I plan on getting the front 3 and a receiver and then piecing together the rest with a amp. However I recently saw that they were Onkyo 806/807 refurb's that are going for about the same money. But they have almost double the power. What does a onkyo sound like? What is it comparable to? All of you that have these can you shed some light ont hat subject. Brown
  7. Has anyone bought any speakers from or off ebay that are used? I was considering a used pair of RF-63 for 999.00. Should I have anything to worry about. Or is it better to just buy new? Just looking at trying to save a few bucks.
  8. Ok I am with you on that note. But here is the big kicker with me and what is going on in my head. The people that I am buying the speakers from keep telling that there is no difference in sound whether I get the RF-63 system or the RF-82 system. He said that if you are using this system for Home Theater purposes then save your money and get the 82. You will hear NO difference between these systems. However if you are using them for Music then there is a noticable difference. Well the last time I heard they are still putting music in movies. And in todays mixes and processing isnt lossless audio what it is all about. I want to be have the feeling that the movie is all around me like I was in the damn thing. Isn't that why we have these things ans what we spend lots of money on. Please Someone Tell Me! I know that this has been discussed in previous posts. I would think that there is a difference. Maybe, maybe not! What do you all think?
  9. Hey now! I know that I am a little Techno Challenged. But I am absorbing as much as possible. LOL..... Everthing I have heard about that line has been rave reviews. I mean seriously.... Who else offers that type of equipment for that money? I think that I am going to pull the trigger on that set up. Processor and Amp for a little more then a grand. Hellllllz Yeah!
  10. I have definately been thinking about it. Especially if you are considering have that and the amp together. That seems like a Huge Bang For The Buck. I will be interested in what other people have to say. I have been in other forums and people really like the amps that they have.
  11. Well it is pretty obvious what do about speakers around here. Thank god for that. But to me the receiver is the most frustrationg thing to find. I guess it is better to state which one is the harder question. I know that it is for Movie/Music purposes only. I am not going to hook up a computer or do streaming radio or what ever you call it. Nor do I need it to be a network reciever. I like Denon, Marantz, Sony ES. Had a yamaha RX-V1000 and had some issues with it. Don't really know about their new stuff. I want to spend around 750.00 to 1000.00. They all claim to be the shiznit with this and that. But recievers also compliment the speakers too. What do you recommend for a RF-63/64 front or RF-82/62 front? Brown P.S. Professor Thump, What really makes these speakers come to life? What would you recommend?
  12. I am wondering if anyone has done this or considered doing this as an option. What about using RF-62's for mids and rear surrounds? you would save money doing this if buying new and not using RS-62. What is your opinions on this? Brown
  13. First things First! I love this forum and all of thehelp and advice. Here is the problem. I want to buy the RF63 Home Theater System. I know that I should never have to upgrade speakers if I go this route and it is What I Want! I just don't know if I have the roon for them without completely re-doing my basement. I have this perfect spot for a nice little home theater set up. But the is no conformity to the room. I have two perfect walls that are the front and the left side. The right side is completely open and part of the main room. The back has two parts. 1/2 of the wall is good but it then comforms into a lower ceiling and bumpout for the bar. If I get the FR 63's then I would be 10-12 ft back from the speakers that would be 6 inches away from the wall. When reclinesd I would be about 12-13 ft back with about 2-3 before i get to the back wall. I know that placement is a good part of the equasion. But for what I am wanting is this OVERKILL? Would I be getting my moneys worth for space that is provided? Or I hate to say this do I need to go smaller? I know what I want but like I said is it what I need? Brown
