  1. I just sold my old Polk subwoofer, $100 toward my new setup!
  2. What's your overall budget? What's more important to you? LCD's will continue to drop in price especially right before and after Christmas but right now there are alot of people dumping out of some very nice audio gear and there are deals to be had if you have patience and want to end up with a better set up for half the price and buy clean used equipment. My overall budget is about $1,200. Right now I am kinda leaning toward the speakers, but i'm not sure. I also have an old, crappy-ish, projector that I normally use for movies. I was thinking that I could get the speakers and then buy a used TV in a few months. Does that sound like a good idea? I have never bought a used TV before...
  3. I currently have an old 32 inch JVC tube TV.
  4. I can either get a full 5.1 F-3 setup or a new 46 inch LCD TV....Should I keep the speakers that I have and get the TV instead or will the new speakers be worth it?
  5. Thanks for the advice everyone!
  6. Thanks for all of the quick responses everyone! I really appreciate it! I will be sure to follow through with the upgrade! I live in Tempe, Arizona.
  7. I have a pair of old SF-1s with b&w surrounds, a polk subwoofer, and no center. I am pretty sure I am going to upgrade to a full F-3 setup with F-3 mains, C-3 center, S-3 surrounds, and a sub-12 but i wanted to make sure this is a worthy upgrade. I am not able to afford anything more than the F-3 speakers and I am going to keep my Yamaha RX-V520 receiver. Will I hear a very big difference? Is it worth the money? Thanks, Jake
  8. Ooops, I meant it would take one or two years for the F-3 setup, for the RF-62 setup it would probably take 3 or 4 years.
  9. Actually, I think I am falling more toward the F3-setup because if I were to get the RF-62 setup, it would probably take me over a year or two to purchase all of the speakers.
  10. The problem is that even if i were to get the F-3 setup, I would still have to separate out my purchases and get a new speaker every month or so...
  11. Is the RF-62 system all that much better? Is there a very large difference in the sound quality between the RF-62 system and the F-3 system? What is your opinion? Is it worth getting the RF-62 system over the F-3 system? I can get the F-3 system through Vanns.com for amazing prices. I can get the C3 for $179 opposed to the $499 for the RC-62. Also, for the surrounds, I can get a pair of S3s for $199 opposed to $780 for a pair of the the RS-52s. Finally for the sub, I can get a Sub-12 for $350 opposed to the RW-12d for $799. Thus, is the RF-62 system worth all of the extra money? (I am on a tight budget, the more I can save, the better)
  12. So there isn't a matching center for the VF-36? Thats pretty weird?
  13. Between the RF-62, The F-3, and the VF-36, would the RF-62 still be the best in your opinion?
  14. Which do you think sounds better between the synergy and the Icon V?
  15. Although, I have heard that the Icon-V line was made of some lower quality parts and didn't sound quite as good...
  16. Thanks for the quick response! Do you think they will be making new models soon or in like a year or so?
  17. I would be comparing them to the Icon-V series...
  18. Any idea what speakers will be replacing the Synergy line? They are fairly old (they have been made since 2004), and I would expect a refresh on them soon. Any word yet?
  19. Let us know how your speakers sound together when you get them!
  20. So the the Reference is a lot better sounding than the synergy and icon-v?
  21. Could there have been something wrong with the C-3 or the S-3? Do the people that have them like them? Does anyone know if they are going to be replaced soon?
  22. Then the Garage Sale section of the forum is your friend (or Craiglist). Would I really be better off getting something used or would I be okay just getting the cheaper synergy series?
  23. Does any one know why they discontinued these? Does the F-3 system sound as good using the C-2 and the S-2s?
  24. Sound quality is what is the most important to me, but I am on a very low budget. I will be using it for mostly music and maybe a movie once a week. I don't really care all that much for size and aesthetics. I will most likely have to buy a speaker every few months and eventually have a full system. Right now I have a pair of old SF-1s.
  25. Is there a very large difference in the sound quality? So the Icon V is better than the Synergy but worse than the Reference?
