  1. I agree, you can never have too much power. I also think those higher end receivers are good for your RF-62. Some of the cheaper receivers have very bad amps that you want to stay away from. I would also stay away from pioneer. Many people do not like how they sound. I don't think they even come close to Marantz, Denon, Yamaha, etc. I have a pair of RF-62 hooked up with a Yamaha RX-V863 right now and it sounds amazing. I would definitely recommend checking out Yamaha.
  2. Pioneer VSX-9040TXH? Anyone heard of it? Is it any good?
  3. The only problem with getting the 663 is that well, you can't. The 863 is still for sale though, and for really cheap.
  4. I would say, check out the 1800 or even the 863. There has been a lot of comparison between the two and many think it is a better deal to go with the 863 rather than the 1800. If you feel the need for more power, you can always use the pre-outs and get an external amp. Either would be a step up from the 765. Yamaha skimped in the power supply area with the 765. Last years models seem to have been a lot more powerful. I recently had a 765, sold it, and then purchased an 863 without losing any money. Definitely an upgrade. At any rate, the 863 can be had for around $499[]
  5. I have the RX-V765 powering my Klipsch. It is a very nice receiver and it sounds great!!!
  6. You should definitely take a look at some Yamaha receivers. Maybe The RX-V665 or RX-V765. They sound great and they have pre-outs!
  7. I would probably try to stay away from a klipsch in wall system...they don't come close to floor standing speakers. Are you trying to stay away from floor standing all together?
  8. I would get it without spending any money...
  9. Looks great! Must sound even better![]
  10. One thing I was kinda interested in with the RX-V863 was that it had HD radio. Does anyone know if there is a difference?
  11. There really isn't anything that I don't like. I love the RX-V765. I was just wondering if the RX-V863 would be an upgrade or not...
  12. I think that is what i'll do, but if I actually do go through with it and someone wants to buy the RX-V765, then I may actually end up making a little bit of money.
  13. As some of you know, I recently purchased a Yamaha RX-V765. Because of a mistake at electronics-expo, I got the RX-V765 for only $329 new. I was wondering if I should try to sell my RX-V765 for $500 (It is normally sold for $650 and it is still brand new) and purchase a new RX-V863 without losing any money. What do you think?
  14. Have you tried to hook different speakers to the amp to see if the amp works?
  15. If it were me, I would be scared to have some guy taking a part a speaker and sending it to me. Especially a speaker that costs so much money. Also, soundseller is not an authorized retailer and they sell B-stock items. Now I am very scared. Good Luck!
  16. It would be for the main speakers. Set the sub's crossover to as high as it goes and let the receiver control the sub's crossover.
  17. I would start off with setting the crossover at 80Hz and playing with it a little. See what you think sounds the best.
  18. Thank you for providing so much information everyone! i have been playing around with my setting a lot lately. I think i am going to leave my crossover at 80Hz. Something about it just sounds good. I had everyone in my family give their opinion. It is amazing how even a little thing like setting the crossover can be so fun to play with! At the moment my speakers are set to small. I have always heard that I should set them to small and I haven't even listened to them set to large. I am not home right now, but I will be sure to try out setting them to Large when I get home!
  19. There are several Ebay sellers that sell "New" products for very cheap. Some of these are great deals and some are scams. There are a lot of sellers that may do things to the speakers before they sell them, such as taking parts out of them. This is real reason for the low price. There are some sellers that remove the warranty cards from the box and the serial numbers from the speakers. If a seller does this, there is a chance that there may be something wrong with the speaker. This seller directly states "**Warranty cards have been removed from the boxes**" If you don't think there is a reason that they are removing the warranty cards, then you are ignorant. I am not saying this in a mean way, I am just trying to give advice. I know these things because of personal experience. Yes, it has happened to me. Don't go off saying bad things about the forum members here because they are very experienced and know what they are talking about. Good Luck.
  20. I am not sure if I would trust them. It says "**warranty cards have been removed from the boxes**" That is NOT a good sign.

    Bi-Amp?

the problem, coyotee is that many AVR's now support "bi-amping" through the use of speaker C terminals ..basically the hookups for multi-room speakers. the manufacturer calls it bi-amping, but it is nowhere near what you describe. i personally bi-wire using two different gauges of wire to the LF and HF, joined into a single connection at the amp. Does bi-wiring improve the sound quality?
  22. I am not completely sure, but if it were me, I would probably go with the RB-35s because of the larger horn and woofer. I have also heard a lot of good things about the RB-35s. The RB-35s are used by Youthman as his rear speakers.

    Bi-Amp?

Thank you for all of the information guys! It seems like it won't make a difference so I won't bother waisting the time. Maybe someday if I have a lot of extra time and I come across some extra speaker wire, I will give it a try. Until then, I will leave it the way it is. One other question, I purchased my speaker wire a long time ago before I had very much knowledge on speakers. I purchased 16-gauge speaker wire. Would I notice a big difference if I purchased 12-gauge speaker wire and re-wired all of my speakers?
  24. I recently purchased a Yamaha RX-V765 to go with my RF-62s and I love it. I would definitely recommend it. It produces amazing sound with plenty of headroom. It also has pre-outs if you want to add an external amp later.
