  1. Well whatever Klipsch thnk they fixed failed. The new replacement X10s are splitting as did the original pair replaced under warranty. The headphones are now out of warranty so what are the options? Has anyone had any success in fixing these splits themselves? Hammy
  2. Hi Boberz3 I had mine replaced under warranty as the strain reliefs split. In the UK the warranty is 2 years same as yours: Warranty – U.S. and Canada Klipsch warrants to the original retail purchaser that the earphones shall be free against defects in materials or workmanship in the Product’s earphone external shell or in its earphone internal components for a period of two (2) years, from the date of purchase, if it is properly used and maintained.. Like you I use them frequently and think they are great. The replacement X10s are the 'new and improved' version but the strain reliefs look just the same as the previous ones if not slightly thinner at the ends. I try now to make sure I only hold them by the barrels and not the strain reliefs at all when touching them. Harder than it sounds as my fingers are a bit podgy Hammy
  3. What Hi Fi Sound and Vision April edition in the UK have done a review of 6 premium in ear headphones including Grado, Denon and Ultimate Ears. The Klipsh X10 and X5s were the only ones to get 5 stars out of 5. Well done Klipsch.
  4. Hi Ali, I think the delay in getting my replacements was due to waiting for the new improved version. You could try checking that they have some in stock before sending yours off, bear in mind they go to Ireland and that cost me £20 via courier. Recorded delivery may be cheaper but I wanted a quicker turn around - ironic or what? I would get them replaced if I was you as they are still under warranty. Whether the new version fixes the problem is not clear to me as the strain reliefs appear very thin at the ends, once the split starts that is it. I have a pair of old Philips earphones with strain reliefs. The plastic they use is a lot more rigid and I think standing on them would not cause a problem. That said they are not even close to the sound generate by the X10s. Good luck Hammy
  5. I received my replacements on Friday. I will try and get a picture of the packaging uploaded tomorrow. However it is clearly different from the original so there is no chance of confusing the two. I can not tell if the material in the strain reliefs is different. The cable however is different. It is noticably thicker than the original and has a better quality feel. Sadly the large carry case that came with the original is no longer included. The carry case that is included is too small for the phones in my opinion. Even with the cable tightly looped around two fingers there is very little room. Having had problems with the strain reliefs I am surprised that Klipsch have provided such a tight fitting case. Winding the cable quite tightly and still having to force it into the case can not be good in the long term. I am using the case that came with my Custom 1s instead as there is a lot more room in there. Like you though I am concerned that the fault may not be completely resolved. There is a two year warranty and I have almost a year left so if they fail again I will go down the refund route. Hammy
  6. Hi Professor Thump, Would you like to comment on my previous questions? Are X10s now being made from a new material to resolve this problem? Will my replacements be made from this new material as promised - how can i tell? Thanks in advance Hammy
  7. I had the same problem on my X10s which I sent back to Klipsch a month ago, £20 by courier to Ireland !! Klipsch acknowledged the problem and have promised replacements when they get more in stock. Two emails saying 'next week' for the replacements to be sent have not yet been honoured though. More interestingly one email stated they were waiting for stock with a new material to prevent the problem I experienced. I am tempted to ask for a refund but the sound quality from the earphones is brilliant and the promise of a fix makes it worth giving Klipsch a chance to resolve the problem. Would someone at Klipsch like to confirm that this is a correct and there is a solution being provided to this problem? Cheers
