  1. I ended up buying a Marantz amplifier instead of the yammy. Seemed to match up well . Very nice detailed and warm sound. Since its local maybe you can demo the yammy on your system. That would be the best option
  2. Hey thanks for your reply. Would this be a straight swap of the termninal and easy to install? Or would i have to drill it to make it fit? Ideally i wanted a spade but very hard to find 1 that fits.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I live in australia i dont think these companies ship overseas? Plus I was after gold spades preferably Are these spades available on ebay perhaps? There are quite a few but not sure which would fit.
  4. here is a photo of what the cornwall terminals look like http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/2172/dsc01990r.jpg
  5. I would like to buy the blue jeans 10 awg belkin cable with the banana plug and spade terminated. The problem is the spades look to big. What size spade exactly would fit does anybody know? I had asked blue jeans but they didnt seem familiar with the cornwalls. Thanks
  6. Thanks to everybody for all the great replies and advice. Would running a solid state pre amp affect the sound coming out of a 45 set amplifier in any way? Or would it totally destroy the 45 set magic sound and make it sound solid state doing this?
  7. I own klipsch cornwalls and would like to get a 45set amplifier. I wont build it specifically myself but i found a great guy who builds great valve amps locally to me. Ive heard rave reviews of the Jeff Korneff 45 set amplifier and how the sound is the best you will ever hear.I have found some information on some parts he uses and was hoping to buy similar parts and use a similar design. Can anybody help with what parts to buy and what schematic/design to use get a similar sound. 1 question I have is they say 80% of a tube amp is in the transformers, specifically the output transformers is that right. Or is it all the transformers including input? The valve amp builder i found basically uses budget/medium range parts and the sound is quite good. I heard the 300b and not the 45 set as he didnt have 1 he had built to listen to. He is happy for me to give him any specific designs or upgraded parts, transformers , tubes etc , Would the best option be to just get electra print transformers as that would give the biggest sound quality increase as I heard thats what jeff Korneff uses in his amps. Or are there better for value money transformers out there for a 45 set . Does anybody know exactly which transformers from the link Jeff Korneff uses? http://www.electra-print.com/singleended.php I want the best bang for your buck without going overboard on parts prices as some of the prices of the parts ive seen can be very expensive. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  8. Thanks for everybodys help here. I got new tweeter diaphragms from bob crites and the tweeter is now working again
  9. Thanks to eveyrbody for there help. I went and got an ohm metre and tested the drivers. The working tweeter was 6.2 the non working tweeteris reading infinity when i test it. Does this mean diaphragm needs changing and it will work or is the tweeter fried?
  10. Hi thanks for the reply. There doesnt seem to be any loose wires. The tweeters are soldered on and i dont have a soldering iron at this stage. Ive never soldered before. Would changing the diaphragms definately fix the problem? I heard tweeter diaphragms after this many years would be worn out and affecting the sound and are worth changing regardless. Is it possible it could be the voicecoil or a blown tweeter? Or would changing diaphragms definately fix the problem?
  11. I recently purchased some used klipsch 1983 cornwalls. The left speaker the tweeter doesnt seem to be working at all. On low volume ive put my ears right up to the mids and tweeters and hear nothing coming from the left tweeter. Overall the left side seems quite dull in sound like something isnt working correctly compared to the right speaker which sounds fine. I dont have any ohm testers or fancy equipment to use to test the tweeter to see what trhe problem actually is. Could it be just the diaphragm needs changing? or is the entire tweeter blown and it needs completely new tweeters? Some help in diagnosing the problem would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  12. Would the Yamaha A-S1000 amplifier work well with a pair of cornscala's as there is 1 for sale that im considering buying. If anybody could give there advice on how it would sound it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  13. how did they sound compared to the original rf-82? Do the series 2 sound better and if yes how?
  14. Have these been released yet? has anybody heard these?
  15. Hi a guy i know is selling some klipsch cornwall speakers with serial number 32x600. Does anybody know what year these are manufactured and if these speakers are any good? Also what amp could i use thats not very expensive and give me a warm not overly bright sound. i mainly listen tgo RnB . Would these be any good as i can maybe find some second hand on ebay quite cheap, NAD , yamaha , rotel , marantz. Which would be preferable? Thanks
